The College Club of Boston - בוסטון

Located in one of the best neighborhoods in Boston and only a 5 minute walk to the subway. The building was charming and well maintained. The hallways on the upper levels creaked when you walked on them and added to the historic feeling of the hotel, in a good way. I was in one of the rooms with a shared bathroom, but never saw anyone else using it so there was never any issue. It was nice to have a window that opened to fresh. It was very clean and the staff was friendly.

This is a perfectly nice stay for some people, but not for everyone. The staff was nice when you had a question, but not very friendly. Their office closes at 10pm, so they left me a voice mail with the code to the door and said my key would be on the entry table if I didn't make it there before then. The location is fantastic. I had a single, and didn't mind sharing a bathroom, but there was no bathmat on the marble floor and you had to be careful after a shower. The room was very nice, and perfect for my needs. They did have free wifi, and a continental breakfast, which was helpful for me. There was no tv, and you can't control the temperature in your room, neither of which I knew ahead of time. This didn't bother me, but my Dad couldn't stay here without control over the temperature.

This is a great place to stay for a person interested in Boston history. Relatively recently revamped (2008) rooms, halls with reading nooks, breakfast room, and bathrooms done in detail to tribute the College's early members. Almost made me feel like I was a boarder in a women's college of the early 1900s, but with all the modern conveniences you'd expect. I'll definitely stay here again given the chance! Only drawback was the office closed before I could check in (6:45 p.m.) but was easy to check in by calling the number on the door.

Incredibly wonderful location - close to business, multiple T lines (subway), shopping, & the Boston Public Garden (1/2 block away). Beautiful, historic building. Helpful staff. Free, fast Internet.

Would have liked someone available at all times - guests were wonderful and helpful but longer staff time daily is needed. Boston is an amazing town!

The room was fantastic --cute and quaint--, but the bathroom's shower was out of order so I had to use another floor's shower. Despite that, still totally worth it. GREAT location.

It was clean and very quite. A normal conversation over the phone with my wife elicited a soft knock on the wall at 10:30pm to indicate that I was disturbing my neighbor. Then I realized I could clearly hear every movement that person made in their sleep. No television--fantastic! and I would imagine that music would also be out, except with earphones, even though there is a CD player in the room. It was a roomy space, about the size of an apartment. If one wants to read, write, study or sleep, it is highly recommended. If you want to have a conversation in your room after 9pm, not the place for you. Nearly perfect for me. I was able to read and go to sleep without distraction.

I take the subway blue line then green line and get off in Alington st from airport. With short walking distance to the club. Poblic Garden and Boston Comm are in a few minutes. Upscale shopping area also in a block away. My room is in the back of the building, furniture is sort old but function will, shared bathroom are nice. If you are only getting the places in down town area, this club with reasonable rate, breakfast, convience to public transportation, I would highly recommand to anyone just need a room to stay overnight and a good breakfast before you go on.

Overall I enjoyed my stay. The room was huge and nicely furnished. It is in a great area of Boston. The staff seemed nice enough but the guests seemed seemed to be all a bunch of Miss Hathaways from The Beverly Hillbillys except not quite as nice. I was in the breakfast room alone when a young lady entered and upon given a nice hello I was greeted with a cold stare. 5 more ladies entered over the next 20 minutes- none of them saying a word to anyone. I thought that was a bit strange. I felt like an outsider. The public rooms are roped off for private events so it's either your room or the breakfast room. The rooms are very quiet. The whole place is very quiet so when I watched a movie on my I Pad I was inclined to keep it very low. Overall I would stay here again.

The accommodations and the location were wonderful. Imagine yourself in the 19th century visiting your wealthy grandmother. The brownstone townhouse has 16 foot ceilings, antiques, elegant mahogany staircase and exquisite small pieces arranged beautifully. I felt as I was in some 19th century time-warp and it was lovely. The staff were so kind and the tea-room was cozy. It was a unique combination of coziness and luxury. I highly recommend it.

The rooms are nice, and quaint. Breakfast usually includes coffee, juice, toast, pastries, yogurt, hard boiled eggs. Snacks are available throughout the day. Would definitely go back and recommend.

Very charming B & B. Would stay again and have already recommended this hotel to friends.

Our stay was fantastic. Cute little place in a great location.

what a charming old style quirky place - very personal - wonderful. One of a kind. Not for everybody though. You have to appreciate this style and treatment.

Overall a good stay... my 3rd there in the past 6 months. Would have stayed another time but they didn't have a room for my dates. If you are looking for simple accommodations in a great location, it's worth trying. My pet peeve is persistently bad internet service (true for all 3 visits). Office staff said they are improving bandwidth, so this may not be a problem in the future.

I would recommend this hotel for business or personal travel. Nice facilities with a clean though dated bathroom and fabulous location near Public Garden.

the room pictured on the sight was not the room we stayed in even though I was told it would be by two different people I talked to. The parking cost twice as much as I was quoted over the phone also by two different people.A fowl odor that came out of the bathroom sink bothered my wife but I really didn;t notice it much.

We were there during hurricane Sandy. College Club was flexible about holding a room for us in case of flight delays, although it wasn't needed in the end. Room was spacious and very much like an old style Oxbridge college room. Note, no TV in the room but free wifi. Breakfast room downstairs has coffee, tea and cookies available all day.

Enjoyed the location and the room was historic. The price was the same as the Westin which had better accommodations.

This Back Bay townhouse turned bed and breakfast has charming rooms. The twin bed and shared bathroom work fine, especially for the price (there is a larger hotel room option with private bath also available). There are only two rooms per floor sharing the bathroom down the corridor. While there is no TV, Wifi works great, and the clock radio that also played music DVDs as well as the bookcase of older books added to the room's charm. The continental breakfast spread in the breakfast room was superb. The building is imbued with history: the College Club of Boston was founded in 1890 by a group of college-educated women, and its current membership boasts a roster of many impressive, prominent local women, whose photos line the stairway, giving inspiration. And who could not appreciate their philanthropic work in supporting a scholarship fund for Boston public school students! I bought their cook book supporting these efforts as well. The College Club is also just a block away from the beautiful Boston Gardens and the Boston Commons beyond that and only a few minutes away from the Arlington T stop on the Green line. Just a wonderful find!

We loved staying at the College Club of Boston. We would stay there again,but would inquire about any events going on ( such as a very loud wedding on Saturday night). I would advise the CC to add that possibility on their website. We were unable to have a quiet evening or sleep. It is a lovely venue for an event, but CC should control noise level , areas wedding guests may use , and hours of the event so the hotel guests may enjoy their time there.

I believe that choosing The College Club of Boston for my stay was an excellent decision because not only is it perfectly situated for getting around, but the building is a landmark, located on one of Boston's most prestigious avenues. The rooms are beautifully restored; redecorated by local interior designers, and the atmosphere laid back and peaceful. It is a lovely place to stay surrounding guests with charm and character, steeped in the history of years gone by,

We needed a place to stay between looking at colleges. We'd traveled a week at lots of hotels and B&Bs. This was by far our favorite. It's gorgeous, stately, quite and very comfortable. The location could not have been more perfect. We had ample shopping ,

If you're tired of hotels that all feel the same, try sleeping in an 1800s bedroom in the heart of Back Bay. Great location, very accommodating staff.... definitely a return location for me.

Very cute little place. I picked this place because I was able to get the one person room with the shared bathroom which is about the least expensive room you can find in the city of Boston. But it also is in just a fantastic area of the city. It's in walking distance of pretty much everything you will want to see in Boston with Fenway not far to the west and Boston Common just a couple blocks east. Safe neighborhood and clean inside room also.

Charming place without amenities. Would like a TV, but plenty to do outside!

I liked it very much. I needed a low-cost, low frills place to crash for one night. The College Club filled the bill quite nicely.

This was honestly the cutest and unique hotel i have ever stayed in. The location was also 100% perfect - right near the arlington subway station, and literally around the corner from newbury street and lovely gardens at the end of Commonwealth avenue. The lovely unique atmosphere was great, and the included breakfast and all day tea, coffee and snacks was a very welcomed first which i had not had with any of the other 6 hotels i stayed at on the trip. The price was great - by far the most reasonably priced hotel in boston i could find. and you get alot for the price you pay too - well worth it!

I would recommend this hotel for its great location in a very safe and elegant neighbourhood, just a block away from the upmarket shopping and bars of Newbury Street. Our room was amazingly spacious, very comfortable and clean. Both bedroom and shower room were a touch dated, but that is part of the charm of the College Club. Ideal for anyone trying to avoid the impersonality of hotel's chaines.

Loved the old style Victorian feel

basically big bargain. recommended. but don't expect more than you pay. the room without bathroom is very inconvenient. I was almost locked out from the room many times.

good value

We very much enjoyed our stay, in a different type of accomodation.The welcome was truly personal and we were literally made to feel very much at home. It is of course a unique site, with a long history. The location, just at the edge of Boston Common could not be more central; but for all of that it is off a main thorough fare and thus quite quiet. There is only a continental breakfast available on site, but teas and coffee through out the day. The central location means that there is access to a huge variety of resteraunts. The Club is of course not suited to everyone; I would suggest it suits the mature traveller - and by this I mean those with mature attitudes, not necessarily those of age! All in all, I would heartily reccommend this location.

I relied on the hotels.com description, and should have googled the hotel first. The College Club of Boston is an old women College Club. Technically it is open to both genders, but as a guy in my early 30s in town for business I was not fully comfortable in this place. I feel like kept getting looks from some guests. Minor annoyances: The man at the reception was not interested in talking to me or providing me advice (barely removed his headphones to talk to me), there was no iron/board in my room (I had to go to the staff laundry room), the breakfast was dissapointing for a B&B, the rooms are beautiful for the style but my window A/C unit was really loud and worked intermittently. On the plus side, the internet was fast, the place had its charms, and the location was perfect. Yet, I don't think I'd rebook this place if I were in the same situation.
