Great location we could walk everywhere, very nice older home, the room was great and roomy, the porches were comfortable, the breakfast food was fine (we pretty much just had bagels or toast and coffee. The pool was very nice as well. Overall we were very pleased and would come back again.

We stayed for 2 nights in room 9 - front of the house with double french windows and wrap around balony - very nice!!!!! from the minute we parked the car on the drive we were greeted by very friendly and accomadating staff - the house is old but very well maintained very light and airy - beautiful high ceilings and original features. Our room had a fantastic size bed - must have super-kingsize lovely and comfy and beautifully clean - ONLY draw back- we brits like a cup of tea!!!! and unfortunately there were no drink making facilities in the room - which would have been really nice - HOWEVER- Carol and Cindy were more than happy to make you a hot drink when needed.The continental breakfast was more than adequate fresh bagels/muffins/waffles/fruit/cereals etc.The swimming pool was lovely and warm just like being in the bath!!!! - pool towels are provided.The location is central and supberb - turn right from Truman into Duval you are a short walk away from mallory square and the sunset quay or turn left - a short walk to southernmost point. we left our car parked for the 2 days and enjoyed walking around and then using one of the very informative bus services -(we used the green and orange bus!!!) which is hop-on and off bus and a great way to see what key-west has to offer as i am sure you would miss some of it if left to your own devices. We had a fanastic stay and loved everything - would highly recommend this B&B - especially if you could get room 9!!!!!.

The B&B itself is nice; however, it is on a busy street (US 1) and there was too much noise at night. I booked a higher priced room on the second floor because of the wrap-around porch. It was lovely sitting outside at night, chatting with our neighbors. Unfortunately, the porch lights are on all night, for safety; and the light came through the windows of the double doors that open out to the porch. I could have read my book, lying in bed, without turning on a light! The next day we found out that the outside shutters could have been closed. The next night we closed the shutters, but light still comes through. Black-out curtains on the door windows would have been better than sheer curtains. The staff was very nice; breakfast offered a nice variety, including made-to order Belgian waffles. Very close to Duval Street and the southern-most point in the U.S.; all within walking distance.

La Pensione Inn B&B was in my very top favorite of places I have ever stayed. The amenities were great, the location was perfect and within walking distance to everything in Key West. The room and property were clean. The staff was professional. I would consider staying here if we went to Key West again.

The heating and a/c did not work until the final night. The staff tried to help us all they could. The location was right on Hwy 1 so it was noisy. The pillows were hard. No television except for breakfast. No eggs at breakfast but we had waffle, fruit, bagels and dry cereal.

Great classic Key West Mansion, private pool area, with coolers and bikes available on-site. Plus the biggest bonus: off street free parking just blocks from Duval St. Plus, can't say enought good things about our host. She was very knowledgable and helpful, and always friendly! We will be back, just don't stay in room 9, it's ours!!

We had a fabulous stay at La Pensione, my husband and I loved the old world charm and the attention to creating an outdoors feel with splendid balconies and terrace for breakfast. We were so impressed that there was no TV in the bedroom- LOVED that. We also liked the personal consideration for us as we were late arrivals.

First visit to Key West and Cindy and the staff were great, knowlagable about the area and very pleasant.We will return to Key West again and will stay here again....

The room was clean, location was about 2-3 blocks off of Duval. I stayed for only a few days but the staff was helpful.

Great location for visiting old town. If flying into Key West, don't bother renting a car, everything is within walking distance. Staff was very friendly and helpful.

After choosing La Pensione rather blindly... What a wonderful discovery!!! Cindy and Frieda were exceptional hosts!! Cannot wait to return!!!

we could not have found a better place to stay

Cindy at the Front Desk was wonderful. The Inn is within alking distance of Duvall so it was very convenient. No tvs in the room so be prepared to read a book.

This is a lovely B&B with a wonderful staff! Just a few blocks from Duval-perfect if you want to be close enough to walk home but not close enough to hear the partying til 5 am! Cindy, Frida and the rest of the staff were friendly, helpful and just genuinely nice people. Our room (#5) was very nice-very spacious and clean. We barely knew we had neighbors until we sat down at the breakfast table (must recommend Cindy's 'love waffles':). The pool was nice and you can rent bikes on site. We will definitely be back!!!

Loved it here. Relaxed within ten minutes of arrival on the island. La Pensione is a very charming inn. Our room (#2) was was very private and we had our own entrance. Noise was definitely not an issue for us. The staff was so friendly and helpful with recommendations. Cannot say enough good things about them, especially Cindy. She ordered taxis for us when we needed them and we were even able to rent bicycles right from the Inn (truly the best way to get around town or to the beach.) There was no tv in the room and that was for the better. The locations is awesome! There's so much to do on Duval (which is an easy walk away) and if there had been a tv my husband and I probably would have been tempted to stay in our first night from jetlag but we went out and had a great night out on the town instead. Our rate was more than reasonable and we would absolutely return here or recommend it to friends.

We were met by Cindy, a most gracious host. Accommodations were excellent and breakfast was convenient and satisfying. We would have appreciated access to the kitchenette for something as simple as a glass of water. Instead we were offerred a vending machine. Pool was clean and inviting.

A very quiant and relaxing B&B...just a 5 minute stroll to Duvall Street and all of the action of Key West. Our room was very clean and spacious including the access to the wrap around porch. Cindy was a VERY gracious host and full of local knowledge. Only downside was the small menu for breakfast...a minature continental...could use more fresh fruit or maybe yogurt.

Everything was excellent except the breakfast. I found the breakfast not very interesting: decaf not brewed but instant / fruit not very ripe / dull bagels/ hard-boiled eggs. Other than that, the staff was friendly, the location unbeatable with off-street parking, the decor charming.

Overall the location , the service and cleaness have been very good. Unfortunately the two nights we spent there were rather short, because you can hear a lot especially from the room above. It sounded, like there were changed the furniture during one night.

La Pensione Bed and Breakfast was a great place to stay for our long weekend. The entire staff was friendly and welcoming. They were able to answer any question we had, from great places to eat, to church schedules! The roosters were a bit loud at night, but Key West is full of them. A special surprise was the omelet chef on Valentine's weekend. We were not expecting such a fabulous breakfast! We will be back!

Just want to say that my daughter and I stayed at this BB on our trip to the Key West. It is a lovely BB with a very comfortable room and bath. We stayed in Room 9 (largest room) which had a nice balconey overlooking a main st. going into Duval St. It was in walking distance to the downtown area. The A/C worked extremely well, I would recommend if your a light sleeper to bring ear plugs at night. I use them all the time so I might not be the best judge for that. Breakfast was filling. Fresh fruit, cereal, waffles, boiled eggs, toasts, bagels.....coffee, tea, juice...etc..It was a very nice stay. The pool is not heated so we were unable to use. They do have bycicles to rent. They also reccommended our sailing adventure with Danger Charters, which was an awesome pick! we had only 13 people aboard compared to the other local charter adventures that looked like 50plus on them. Our crew was both experienced and Knowledgeable in our Kayaking(was so much fun ) and snorkel. Our only disappointment is that the snorkeling was not what you can find in the BVI's. Coral is brown, not many fish. The water in Dec is around 70, but they did have wet suits for us all to use so that made it a bit more comfortable. That was disappointing, but there are other sails to do and I would definately use them again, even if it was just to do and evening wine/sunset sail. All in all, the BB was great staff was friendly and helpful,and would definately stay with them again.

Staying two nights at La pensione Inn B&B made us really wonder about the hotel rating. For us the four star rating seems like at least wo stars to much. Worn out bed made it impossible to sleep. Air condition worked firts the second night (after many complaints from us) the pool was not funktion etc.etc

Charming old hotel built in the 1890's. Nice location for attractions, except for busy street. Lots car noise.

Just spent the 2011 Christmas Holiday at the La Pensione Inn in Key West. What a lovely facility that is close to Duvall St, and yet has so much charm. Cannot wait until I return for another relaxing stay. Great service. Great staff. Enjoyed my stay very much.

La Pensione is centrally located on Key West A bit of a hike to the waterfront bars, but not bad (and they rent bicycles on site). Our king sized bed was much appreciated, the room was very clean, the small pool area was well maintained, and the staff was extremely friendly and helpful. We enjoyed sharing tourist suggestions with the other guests at breakfast and getting insider info from the hotel staff. The on site parking was much appreciated.

The room was very charming and spacious with high ceiling, more than what we expected. Breakfast included with a variety of fruits and cereals. The inn keepers were helpful and very nice. This inn were one of our highlights of the trip.

just getting back from Key West, we stayed at La Pensione. Although the Inn was quaint, we felt it didn't have the same charm as other B&B's we have stayed in. There is no personal decor or knick knacks, nor "homey" feeling. As opposed to waking up to the smell of eggs cooking downstairs, we walked down to a very small tray of fruit and 4 hard boiled eggs and bagels to self serve. To accomodate the 9 room Inn, we felt there should actually be 9 packing spaces, not 7. Parking was difficult with the risk of being towed. The pictures on the internet were a bit deceiving as to how the room appeared in person. One bonus was thee was internet access in the room as we brought our lap top. No problems with noise for us, I think our main contention overall was what actually was offered and the room itself. If the room was decorated and more personal and made you feel more at home, we may entertain the thought of coming back, but, we have stayed at other B&B's and this was just not for us. Priced right per night, but you get what you pay for. If you're looking for somewhere to sleep only, then this may be right for you. If you are looking to be catered to and want to feel at home, you may want to keep looking.

B&B was very clean and the hosts were very friendly. The location wasnt right on the tourist road (Duval St) however is was very close & you could rent a bicycle or scooter which made it very easy to get around. The room and bathroom were clean, but a little basic especially the in bathroom (just a shower stall with a curtain). But considering the price of all the 4/5* hotels this was a good option and I would stay there again for a short break. Had a swimming pool in the garden, which we didnt use, but looked refreshing.

We had a wonderful stay with just enough help and conversation with staff , while much of the comfort of home. Simple and clean with easy access to key parts of the island.

Everything was clean. Staff was super nice. Walking distance to Duval street. Beautiful area. Planning to stay at the same place next time I go. Loved it.

Very Nice place, clean, the staff is extremely helpful and friendly. House is conveniently located on Truman Ave but that has its issues, Truman ave is very busy and all emergency vehicles use it, so both nights we were woken up a few times by sirens blasting what felt like right in our room, garbage truck in the morning again sounded like they were in our room. Walking to the main part of Duval is a tab bit far but easily solved but riding a bike instead. Overall we enjoyed our stay but would be much better if the house was a few blocks over off the main Ave.

We had a wonderful stay in Key West. The hotel is clean, friendly and well situated. Well worth the price! Towels for pool and beach if needed are available free of charge, which i thought was a nice touch. There was no TV or kettle in our room, but to be honest this did not detract at all from our stay at all. The location is good. We could walk to Duval street, the old harbour etc. Overall for the price i think this hotel is excellent.

I went to Key West with my BFF Debbie for a girls weekend getaway. I choose this particular B&B because of the location, price, and raving reviews from previous guests. The reviews were all right! While I would recommend this place more for a couple, we still were very comfortable. We staying in room 3 located poolside. The hotel rents bikes which we used one afternoon. The breakfast was simple but delicious. Waffles were really good! The best part is the hotel is located a few blocks from Duval which saved us on Taxi fare. I will definitely be back again, but maybe next time with my boyfriend.
