Hôtel de Glace - קוויבק

Freedom to walk around the hotel and see all the rooms during the day. Blue curtain rooms are all the same - an ice bed and an ice table. These are the least expensive at $400 a night. The red curtain rooms are more expensive and each one is decorated with a unique theme. An ice bed, table and some other pieces of ice furniture. These rooms are stunning and creatively designed. We checked in around 4:00, had the tour and went to the session on how to sleep in your sleeping bag. We went into town to have dinner. Staff recommended a place and made reservations for us. They had an ice sculptor at night and we were invited to try a hand at our own ice sculpting. Had a drink in our ice glass in the ice bar, had a jacuzzi before bed (need to increase your body temperature) had a coffee in the lobby then went to bed. Felt a little claustrophobic in the sleeping bag and had to loosen the neck and hood part of the bag. Was quiet and we made it through the night. Did not feel cold at all. Slept with merino wool long johns and yoga pants and top. Kept my scarf and hat on all night but took my mitts off in the night. It was a unique experience - a bucket list must.

The breakfast was absolutely terrible!! But other than that, the staff and the Ice Hotel experience was outstanding. Must see!!

It's a fun experience to stay at the hotel, and to walk through it and see all the work that went into constructing it. Sleeping in the cold was not problem as I have gone winter camping the mountains of Colorado, and the sleeping bag they giver you is terrific — but if you want super-comfy conditions this is not the place for you. There's not a lot to do other than look around and hang out in the bar at the hotel itself, so plan for other activities while you are there. There's snowshoeing and cross-country skiing nearby, and Quebec City is just 15 minutes away.

Before you spend the night here, spend some time sleeping in a mummy sleeping bag. No matter what they tell you the room is cold. You are sleeping in a freezer. It is a real neat place to tell your friends that you lasted the night.

We had an amazing time during our stay at this hotel. You have to know what you are getting yourself into. Bring the right clothes, have the right attitude and you will thoroughly enjoy your stay. The staff was wonderful, was available 24/7 and recommended great outdoor winter activities such as dog sledding. Also the ice bar was a fun way to get to know other brave souls who were going to be spending an evening at the hotel.
