AdaM Hotel - רייקיאוויק

Except that there were no reception sometimes, it's quite nice and convinient to stay there. My room was quite small, but I got everything I need there, kattle,cutlery microwave and a small sink in my room, so it's really like stay in your own accommodation. The only shortage is the none 24-hour reception and actually they didn't told me their reception opening time, so when the main light oh my room broken I couldn't find anyone to help just used the bedside lamp instead.

Upon check in the owner guy was so rude to us for no apparent reason. Pretty much everything in our (twin) room was broken in one way or another. As soon as I sat down on my bed it broke - I weigh 65kgs We had to ask the owner guy I think to fix it he was angry then when they had a look at the broken leg you could clearly see like 12 nails in it where they'd 'fixed' it previously! The fridge hummed abnormally loud, we couldn't use the wardrobe cause it was tettering on the edge of collapsing. But we did get it for pretty cheap compared to other prices we saw on the net. The shared shower was clean and we got fresh(ish) towels nearly everyday. It's in the best location, other than that I'd go elsewhere next time.

Great location right across the street from the main cathedral makes it easy to find after a crazy night on the town! Also a 5 minute walk to the main shopping/party district is very convenient, as is the grocery store located underneath the hotel. However, the rooms are not exactly as illustrated. My first room was tiny and the tv did not work, so I was moved the next day to a larger room with a working tv, but that fridge door would not stay closed. I had to push all my luggage up against it to keep it sealed! That being said, the rooms are very clean, the hotel is quiet and very safe, and for a city as expensive as Reykjavik, I can't really complain about the overall stay. For the price, the wonky rooms were more than balanced out by the great location, cleanliness, and amazingly hot water!

It was my worst hotel experience, the price was big, the room less than small, share mini bathroom, durty and unconfortable, the aperence of the hotel starting by the reception was defenitly horrible. The mini bed was very unconfortable with a fifty years old mattres. Definitely a waste of money, hope that hotel.com remove this guesthouse from their list. The person at the reception when i complained about the room told me just that if i did no like it there were many more options in town.

The complete lack of any services other than a very basic room with almost all amenities not fully functioning falls well short of any acceptable standards. Not recommended.

The hotel has the best location in town .. you can find it without map or any help from GPS based navigation. It is directly in front of the land mark Church in the center of town and at the highest point . But the room sucked. Shower was awful. Moldy smell -- The water from shower bathes the entire bathroom with some places in the floor elevated such that the water will not run back to the drain .. so the entire floor is drench.There are no shelves for placing shampoo etc .. The room smelled poorly. The pillows stunk. The price was low but the quality was lower. There are many other things that were were sub par , but I could happily over look these problems if the shower was nice and the pillows were comfortable and smelled good. So .. I say 1 out of 5

Great location. Manager is rude and enter room with his own key . Rest of staff was great and helpful

This is a cheap place to stay if you are in a small group and don't plan on being in your room very much. There are shared bathrooms for two rooms. There was a microwave and a mini-fridge in each of the rooms. Think of it as a college dormroom.

I seldom read any comments of hotels, but this time I had to read if someone else has complained about Adam Hotel. I am usually satisfied with quite a few things in hotel accomodation, but this time even basic facilities did not work. I ordered two 3 bed rooms for my family of 5 person. At first they told me that they have only one room for my whole family. After a conversation they found a small rathole with one bed to compensate the other 3 bed room. I did not see any hotel personal ever since during our 5 day holiday. So there was nothing to complain about coldwater, cleaning of the room etc. I just wonder how this hotel will stay in the list of hotels.com and how they will pay me back the other 3 bed room fully paid reservation .

We arrived to a locked door and was over a phone asked to wait for 15 minutes and after 15 minutes of waiting we were told to wait another 30 minutes before we could even get in to the hotel. Then we were told that he did not have the room for us and that it was Hotel.com who had made a mistake, Instead he would give us a room 5 kilometers away!!! He was rude and first after a call to Hotel.com did we get what we already had payed for. The room was fine and the location is really good but we are not going to stay there ever again.

I feel very confident recommending this hotel because of the price. It was SO cheap and the location was great. It's a little weird that there is no front desk, so checking in and out was a little confusing. Also, on the site it says there are hair dryers in the room. The actually do not have them in the room, but I asked the owner and he found one for me to borrow. The rooms have a mini kitchenette area with a fridge, microwave and a few things like bottle openers and what not. Also, the hotel is directly over a super market. I will stay at AdaM hotel the next time I travel to Iceland. You can't beat the price.

On the first night of our stay we arrived at 1 am. The person working at the guesthouse told us that our room wasn't available. He suggested sleeping on the street, but after much argument, he said that a room would be available at 6 am, so we left and returned at that time, essentially losing a night that we had already paid for. Our flight out was at 1 am. We checked out at noon and asked the proprietor if he could hold our bags until about 9 pm so we wouldn't have to carry them all day, to which he reluctantly agreed. When we returned promptly at 9, he stated that we had broken a door and he would not return our bags until we paid him $2,000 US. The damage to the door (which obviously took place long after we checked out) was minimal. He stated he called the police, but did not ask them to come. We insisted that he call them again, and he refused, and also refused to give us the number for the station. When one of us began to walk to the station, he stated he'd "let it go" for $500 us. We insisted on getting the police (who stated they were never called by the proprietor in the first place), who came and made him release our luggage. We barely made our flight. Needless to say, this is awful treatment from anyone, and I hope hotels.com considers taking this guesthouse off their list of approved places to stay.

Very basic. By U.S. standards It is more like a dorm

The Pros: Staff were able to let us in early to our room so we could sleep off jet lag, great location, had kitchenette in room, we got a good price for having a private bathroom The Cons: Our room was musty/smelled like mildew, and the bathroom smelled like bleach. A little on the worn out side, and the room is pretty cramped. Choose it for the value, wouldn't want to spend a lot of time in the room, but adequate for sleeping.

I usually cannot be bothered to write reviews, but I feel that I owe fellow Reykjavik visitors a warning. This hotel has smelly rooms covered up by massive amounts of chlorine poured into each zink, toilet, etc. Definitely not three star material. The pictures are hugely misrepresentative. Rude manager and disillusioned "receptionist" (there is no reception...). Thank you, hotels.com, for helping me to get out of this hotel after one night (I arrived after midnight, didn't expect to find a hotel elsewhere, but couldn't wait to leave first thing in the morning). I will make use of your services again because of your friendly and professional service. So, don't stay in this "hotel", it isn't worth the money you think that you are saving...

Very basic, but clean, safe, good hotel. GREAT location -- steps away from beautiful church, views, cafes, bars and restaurants. Kitchenette was clean and very useful -- there's NO stove or microwave though. Recommend it for low-budget travelers, you'll have great access to everything and no problems whatsoever.

In the heart of the city. Handy to shops, restaurants, harbour, old part - traditional houses and streets.

I had not read previous reviews before I made reservations. Given the expectations induced by them, I was overall pleasantly surprised. It appears that the place is being remodeled and quality has improved, but the shower stall in our room did not yet any surrounding walls in one of the two rooms for five people we rented. The key to the front door needed to be pulled out slightly before working. The owner showed a bit of a temper over car parked in the yard but the issue was amicably resolved when he realized the car wasn't mine. The staff person we dealt with mostly was pleasant. Clean towels are provided every morning but no other room service. This is more of a guest house than a hotel. However, the convenient location near a landmark church, the free internet, the presence of a small kitchen area combined with a food store located around the block in the same building, the in-house availability of cheap car rentals, and the low price are features that are hard to beat.

Sentral beliggenhet, enkel standard.

Hotellet har veldig bra beliggenhet, rett ved Hallgrimskirken, med en liten matbutikk i kjelleren og en lokal restaurant på andre siden av gaten. Det er kort vei til det meste, for eksempel Laugavegur og bussterminalen/busstopper. Standarden på hotellet var nok litt lavere enn de tre stjernene som var oppgitt, men det var helt greit. Vi fikk nye håndklær hver dag, og personalet var veldig hyggelige og hjelpsomme.

Litet rum och ännu mindre badrum. Slitit . Plus i kanten er att det finns kylskåp, vattenkokare och micro på rummet. TV satt so högt på väggen att det gick inte att titta på det utan att ligga i sängen. Nya handdukar varje dag.

AdaMs var en blandet oplevelse. Beliggenheden og prisen var meget pæne! Det er desuden fantastisk at have en lille lejlighed til sig selv med nøgle, så man ikke skal gennem en reception hver gang. Ulempen er at man ikke altid kan få fat i personale, hvis man har brug for hjælp. Værelserne var ikke rene. Gratis internet og en lille kiosk på selve hotellet, med alt muligt.

Eine Wochen hatten wir ein "double room with shared bathroom". Ausser neuen Tüchern zum Duschen und einen Abfallsack bekommt man nichts (auf täglicher Basis). Gereinigt wird nicht. Betten werden nicht gemacht. Es ist ca. 10 Minuten zu Fusse bis man im "Party"-Viertel ist, ansonsten ist man innert Minuten im Zentrum. Man ist sehr frei mit dem kommen/gehen (eigener Schlüssel) und kann tun und lassen wie es einem passt. Ideal für junge Leute die KEINE Ansprüche haben. Betten sind guter Qualität, auch ist es ruhig. Frühstück hatten wir nie dort. Personal eher unfreundlich (wobei korrekt) und war bei uns nicht erreichbar als wir auschecken wollten.

Det er det værste hotel, jeg har prøvet. Hoteldirektøren var uforskammet, uvenligheden selv, påståelig udover alle grænser - og burde ikke have ansvar for hoteldrift. Værelset var på ca. 6 m2, med en enkeltseng på 80 x 190 cm,og der var knap plads til kufferten.Skulle dele uhygiejnisk bad med 4 andre værelser. Adgang til køkken, men dette blev brugt af person, der slet ikke boede på værelserne, så der lugtede konstant af dårlig fedt, bacon etc.

Følte oss lurt i forhol til beskrivelsen.

Billederne af værelserne og beskrivelse af værelse m passer slet ikke med virkeligheden. Prisen er helt urimelig sammenlingnelig med andre hoteller med samme pris. Det er ikke et hotel - det er et guesthouse af væste slags, hvor der skal betales for morgenmad. Hotellet ser ikke ud til, at være istandsat de sidste mange år. Værelserne er sølle. slidte og har skader. Hotelles ejer har heller ikke i Reukjavik det bedste ry for venlighed og service. Jeg kan slet ikke anbefale stedet, og jeg valgte også at flytte til andet hotel samme dag jeg ankom. Turist trap af den værste slags

Tilfreds med opholdet.Synes der skulle friskes op på hotellets facade der er yderst kedelig men kunne blive rigitg fin.

Hotels centrale placering - og standard var lige efter mit ønske.Kunne forestille mig en anden gang at bestille værelse her.

Mit ophold i Island var pga. Landsmot. Men det var et skuffende værelse. Meget lydt til naboer, meget småt, og sengen blev ikke redt under hele opholdet!

It is NOT a hotel. It is a guesthouse. No microwawe or hairdryer as stated. Was nothing like the photos. Had to share shower/toilet. The shower badly needed a plummer! The "Cleaning-lady" AND her large dog came into my room without knocking (well, the dog couldn't knock, and I guess the cleaner couldn't either). The landlord could not spell the word service. It was so bad it was almost funny! Could hear at least two people snore from other rooms at night. Positive things: The internet worked, it was quite cheap and the positioning was good. But cannot recommend it and will never go back there!

立地場所のわりに料金が安かっと感じた。部屋自体はまぁ、あんなものだと思います。一人で過ごすには特に問題はないかと。

det var det værste hotel jeg har været på. det er jo ikke engang et hotel??? det minder mere om et vandrehjem. der lugtede så skrækkeligt på samtlige toiletter at man ikke engang kunne børste tænder derude. . jeg skal aldrig i mit liv mere leje et værelse på det såkaldte "hotel" . beskrivelsen og billederne på internettet af "hotellet" passer overhovedet ikke til beskrivelsen !!!!!!

Ligging prima en in het centrum. Prijs aantrekkelijk. Aanradar.

Hotel Adam är inget hotell utan ett guesthouse, och saknar egentlig reception. Rummen håller alls inte den kvalitet som utlovas i broschyrer eller på webbplatsen. Detta vägs till viss del upp av det centrala läget.

The hotel is very close to the town centre, well located between Reykjavik domestic airport and the middle of city. Since the hotel lacks a reception and the entrance is from the parallel street due to construction work it was a bit difficult to find, and not to confuse with the AdaM Guest house. Calling the hotel in advance made a late arrival possible. The rooms are small, however clean and well equipped with fridge and kitchen equipment.
