Lamp Liter Inn - Visalia

Beautiful landscaping. Room was clean and everything worked nicely. Pool clean. Free coffee in lobby and room.

I have been to meetings and banquets here in the past but this was my first stay. I was pleasantly surprised with the cleanliness and quality of the furnishings and decor. The pool gardens flowers and grounds are impressive and meticulously maintained. Houskeeping staff is attired in surgical scrub uniforms...all giving the impression that this place is well managed. Order breakfast or lunch from the attached restaurant and you will not be disappointed. I will be back. Great value.

This is an older motel, with lots of shabbiness. The grounds are the best part, lots of flowers and grass around the pool area.

The grounds are very pretty and well kept. The pool looked amazing and it was a quiet hotel. Our room was still being cleaned when we got there about 4pm but theres a shopping center across the street so its located near everything you could need. The TV in the room was extremely dated and small. This place a cosy and a the grounds are larger then I had expected. Theres also a sports bar and restaurant attached which is nice for those who dont wish to travel far.

Considering the age of the place, the property is kept up and everything was functional. Nice grounds with green, spacious surroundings. Huge swimming pool.

The room was dark and had overpowering cleaning solution smell. Beds were pushed up against window and exterior wall in attempt to satisfy 2 queen bed category. TV was old and poor quality. Toilet seat loose. Landscaper using loud equipment at 7:15a on Sunday. All in all, pathetic room. I will never stay there again.

We only stayed for a night in our way from Sequoia park to Yosemite park. It was a nice hotel. I loved the garden! It looked more like "at home" than a hotel. There is a lage swimming pool, not like most hotels that say they have a swimming pool when it is barely larger than a jaccuzi. There is no breakfast included but the Lamp Liter Grill serves excellent breakfast! You definitly need a car there, as there is not a lot of things at a walking distance.

My room was everything I could have hoped for - clean, comfortable and welcoming. Rooms are large and overlook a beautiful court yard. It't like living in a beautiful park.

We stayed here on our honeymoon for two nights as a stop over between Yosemite and Vegas whilst we spent a couple of days exploring King's Canyon and Sequoia National Park. Apart from one dirty hand towel the room was in good order, clean and comfortable. It was a pleasant 1 hour drive to National Parks (4 hours from Yosemite) and Visalia itself was a nice little town. The gentleman behind the desk recommended two great restaurants for dinner - Double L and The Brewmaker - we also took a lovely sandwich from The Lunchbox with us to the Park on our second day. Breakfast at the Lamp Liter itself was really nice too! All round a good place for a short stay!

I stayed here one night. No problems. Satisfied.

Enjoyed my time there was treated very nice.

We've stayed here often on our way to Yosemite or Sequoia National Parks, its a very convenient stop and Visalia has some great restaurants. Hotel could use some maintenance and updates but it's always clean and ths staff are always very helpful.

I was satisfied with the location for my work in Visalia. The heater could not be adjusted. The show was not ADA or safety standard safe nor was there GFI receptacles in the bath room. The restaurant was convenient, clean and the prices and food were great. I would stay her again but not with my wife because she would not approve of these conditions.

very outdated rooms.. no current amenities.. rate per night was fair for what you got. location was convieneniant.

We stay here when visiting family. The facility is always clean and quiet. There is a nice trail on the back of the property that is nice for walking the dogs.

Lovely grounds and great service. The location was a bit far out from the convention center, but that was not a big deal. I'd go back.

We enjoyed staying at this delightful hotel. It was easy to find and we loved having the car right outside the door. The grounds are very well kept. It was a bit rainy when we were there, but did not take away from our stay. We plan to stay there again next time we go to Visalia, CA.

We have been using this hotel during our annual business trip to the area primarily because it's convenient location. We will not use it again or recommend it. When we arrived at the Front Desk to check in the clerk was not busy, the phone rang and she answered the call without even glancing at us, I figured it wasn't. A big deal until the conversation on the phone went on for over five minutes a d the clerk continued to act as if were invisible. Keep in mind I am not a difficult customer I travel frequently and I avery tolerant so the only thing I expected is a simple "I'll be right with you" not here. After about the clerk finally finished her phone conversation she started checking us in (we had two separate rooms) and required a credit card and I.D. Which is normal even if it is a prepaid reservation, but in this case instead of running the credit card and request a temporary authorization for incidentals she took the credit card and the I.D. Ad went to the back to make photo copies. When we questioned her about this she indicated it was the hotel standard practice. we told her we did not feel comfortable with her keeping photo copies of ID and credit card, are you kidding me??? With so much credit card fraud and identity theft going around? We told he clerk she may run he credit card and get a an authorization but not make photo copies. The part that bother me the must was the complete lack of customer service skills. Will never return to this property.

My room was clean, the bed was very comfortable. The door to the room was on the inside, so there was a little more privacy.

The grounds are nice but the heat and air are not by room and with no control it can get very uncomfortable.

An oasis in among the parched landscape. Would of liked to stay in the park but either booked or closed . Great sized rooms great bed, what more needs to be said.

Place was cute

My wife and I were on a long road trip (900 miles). The Lampo Liter was the perfect place to stop and charge our batteries. Convenient to the highway and a very comfortable bed for sleep.

I cannot stop giving rave reviews to this hotel. I stayed a week for my sister's funeral and this was by far the best hotel in the area. Check-in was super easy and all staff were professional. The swimming pool is nice to relax and you even get pool towels. The room itself was very clean. This hotel is worth spending the extra few dollars compared to the other hotels in the area.

very nice stay, very profesional, nice desk stuff, nice garden, pitty no breakfast included to the price, in general we were very satisfied, but I EXPECT FROM HOTELS.COM CONFIRMATION OF MY PAYMENT

The pics of this place on the Hotel.com website are a joke. It's really an old, worn-out mess of a place. The rooms are dark and dingy, with foul ancient carpet that you'd be crazy to walk barefoot on. The sheets are stiff and threadbare; the bathroom featured a leaky old shower, and a toilet bowl with miss-matched, too small toilet seat; the tv is circa 1990, and last, but not least, the early 60's fan in the room rattled so loudly I could barely sleep. I travel a ton, and have stayed in dozens of better hotels at this moderate price point. STAY AWAY.

A good hotel with a nice pool.

I liked the fact that there was a resturant and bar on the premises.

We chose this hotel just for one night on our way from sequoia Park to lone pine and it has been a good surprise. It's a lovely oasis, very comfortable and well equiped, with a beautiful garden and pool. The bar-grill close to the hotel is affordable and good. The neighborhood is not ideal, being located close to the highway, without a lot of things around, but it was ok for a one-night stay.

Nice independent place. Doesn't have lots of bells and whistles, but has everything else -- terrific service, wonderful pool, working WiFI. Television didn't work in first room, so desk clerk upraded us to cottage room for two nights. Cottage was spacious, well-maintained and had updated mattresses. Kids loved the pool, which was huge by hotel standards. Hotel is near the highway, but you don't hear a peep and garden area makes you feel like you're far away from traffic. Definitely recommend looking at this place.

My initial call to the hotel was not a friendly one. The woman I spoke to was rude and unpleasant. I was going to cancel my stay here all together because of her tone but given the cost of other hotels, I opted to continue with my stay here. The location of the inn is that it is right off the freeway, literally. It's conveniently close to downtown Visalia. Upon entering our room, it smelled like a bathroom. The AC was running however the controls did no work very well. In order to turn it on we had to turn in to 85 degrees. To turn it off (since there was no way to lower it) we had to turn it below 75. The carpet was not vacuumed well, AT ALL. You could see remnants of some type of carpet powder all over the floor. There was dirt in between the nightstand and bed, it was pretty disgusting. We would have switched rooms but being that we had arrived in the evening and from a long drive, we sucked it up and stayed in the room. It was so bad that my roomie opted not to shower the next morning.

The Lamp Liter In is an older, well maintained facility. I choose this each time I visit Visalia (my home town) because of the convenient location, the cleanliness and the friendly staff. It's also very reasonably priced. I understand it has the largest outdoor, motel pool in the San Joaquin Valley. Whether this is true or not, it's very nice.

The hotel is a very quaint older hotel. The garden is beautiful and has a serene atmosphere. The location is in the middle of everything - close to downtown which is very nice.

Everything was excellent except the alarm in the building next door went off for over an hour in the middle of the night. That was not Lamp Liters fault but it was the only blemish on our trip. A continental breakfast would have been nice too.

I always like staying at the Lamp Lighter when I visit the area, this time it was with out our pets so the room I thought we were getting didn't look anything like the picture. I was a little dissappionted with that, those rooms need some up dating. Otherwise its a nice hotel.

Excellent stay. Rates were reasonable. The staff was very courteous, patient and helpful.

The location was convenient and in a safe area. The grounds were pleasant and the room was comfortable, although a little old, Still, the room was not unpleasant. Staff was courteous and helpful. All-in-all, a pleasant night's stay.

I would most definitely stay there again. The Lamp Liter Inn coffee shop next door was also outstanding and the service was great.
