Van der Valk Volendam - Katwoude

We liked being away from Amsterdam, a great place to visit but I would not want to live there. The park and ride would cost 8 Euro per car and give two people all day passes on the transit system or buying a ticket on the bus will cost 10 Euro per person for the same. We chose the bus for our trip into Amsterdam and it was too easy. The bus comes every 15 minutes on the road next to the hotel (100 meters from the hotel) and drops you off at Central Station. We only waited two minutes since there are 4 different bus lines that pass and go the Central Station. Then when you are done with the craziness you can come back to your room next to a field full of sheep outside the quaint town of Volendam which is also worth a visit. The hotel was clean and comfortable with a nice shower (good pressure and hot water). Rooms were quiet but the beds were softer than we like (we like the Euro-hard beds). Breakfast was good with fresh-squeezed orange juice and good espresso and cappuccinos. Breads and rolls were fresh and varied. There were pre-cooked scrambled eggs with either ham, spinach (I think) or plain. The soft boiled eggs were closer to hard boiled eggs and the sunny side up eggs were also cooked a little too long. I would have liked eggs to orders but I like that when I am on holiday. They had bacon, sausage and some meats and cheeses as well. Wi-Fi was fast enough to stream a movie at the end of the day (a wired connection cost extra). We would stay here again.

Actually very nice hotel staff were nice even faced with awkward questions lovely time!!

We booked this hotel after a hostel in central Amsterdam had messed up our booking. It was an amazing hotel, brilliantly comfy rooms, swimming pool etcs. Only problem being that it was 16km from Amsterdam (€7.50 bus one way or a €45 taxi)! If you want comfort away from the hussel and bussel you won't go wrong with this place. If you are looking for a central hotel in Amaterdam this isn't it!

Bus to amsterdam every 15 minutes and it only took 20 minutes. The restaurant food was excellent and reasonably priced. Very relaxing at this hotel.

It was wonderful, staff was very nice, helpful, and knowledable.

it's very good, but the there is no free WiFi.

perfect location to visit amsterdam. Just 20 min to central station.Bus every 10-15 min.Bus stop just outside hotel.Fantastic place Volendam just few kilometers away

The hotel was clean and the staff were friendly. The room was spacious and the bathroom floor was heated. It is about 25 minutes from the city by bus and this might be of concern to those intending to spend late nights partying in the city centre, but fine if you're more interested in sightseeing during the day and resting at night. The hotel restaurant is very nice and the food is good. There is a nice swimming in the hotel too. Overall I would advise this hotel for people who wouldn't mind being a bit outside the city.

the hotel was beautiful, the staff really helpful, the room amazing, saw all the fireworks in amsterdam from the balcony. Next door is a cheese and clog factory they take you round shows how they make it all, i bought back load of stuff and plan to go again next year. Another plus is the bus stop is outside hotel, takes no time at all to get into Amsterdam.

The hotel was great! Not that far from the city centre, and the several buses that goes there takes about 20 minutes. The hotel was very cheap, but very worth it! Staff was friendly, but the hotel barkeep didn't know how to mix any drinks at all. (haha) I had some allegies in my room wich I believe came from a dusty carpet. There was no visible dirt though. Daily cleaning and a very fresh and BIG bathroom + comftirble beds. I can only recommend this hotel! :) Stay at this hotel, rather than some unsafe and nasty hostels that will take double the price anyway. Breakfast not included, but can be bought at site.

Top notch hotel with a great buffet breakfast to match.

Very nice hotel for the price. If you are staying at this hotel to then go amsterdam there is a bus stop outside the hotel, and if you get a travel card from the hotel (£7.50 deposit) and add 5 euro that will get you there and back. Easy to get to by car from calais. Will be staying there again.

Ideal if you want a quiet stay outside of Amsterdam. A 30 minute bus ride to Amsterdam (bus stop close to hotel). Ideal if you have a hire car (or bike!) to explore nearby towns, Edam, Volendam plus with in easy reach of Delft. Very good service at hotel, responsive friendly staff. Breakfast worth paying the extra for with a decent buffet, good coffee and fresh bread and freshly squeezed orange juice, though it could be quite busy in the morning. Only fault - the decor of the room was quite dark and gloomy (a lot of brown) and the bathroom could have done with better lighting. Having said that, it must be said that both bedroom and bathroom were very spacious.

Used this location to visit Amsterdam ,Volendam and Edam for the cheese market also to see the local sights which are really lovely. Breakfast and evening meal were good a bit disappointed that swimming pool has no shallow part this was a bit of a problem as my grandaughter aged 9 could not reach the bottom and although she can swim it is worrying.

This is a great family hotel. It had plenty of restaurants. It was very clean. The hotel desk staff helps in any way they can; like directions, transportaion, any questions. Had all the hussle and bussle of amsterdam in the day, than went to this relaxing Hotel in the evening for our stay and it is only one bus stop away in front of the Hotel. It is so easy even a kid could get there. Buy a chip card in the lobby make sure your credit card has a pin number or it will not work in the machine there. 9 euros a day otherwise for round trip, about 13 dollars. With chip card it is 5 euros a day roundtrip. That would be about 7.50 dollars. Breakfast is great!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! well worth 10 euros. Fresh squezzed orange juice too..

good position and mostly fine. Room a little stuffy One free internet terminal seemed insufficient. No entertainment and poor bar service.

My daughter became ill the first day we were there. The hotel staff found a doctor for her to see, they made an appointment right away. They were kind, helpful & very concerned. I appreciated that so much.

We stayed in this Hotel on our weekend break in Amsterdam and were very pleased all round. This is a very modern, clean and comfortable Hotel with very helpful staff. It is out of town but this is not a problem as there are plenty of buses that stop outside the Hotel. It is a twenty minute bus ride on the 110, 112, 116 or 118 so location is not a problem. Great Hotel, would strongly recommend.

well, your web site should mentioned that this hotel is not in amsterdam, this hotel is out of town, no car or but to city, only walking , this is totally absurd,i was stuck in the hotel at the nite than i cald taxi they charged me too much than i booked taxi again for my way back, no one ready to droped me than i walked about 10 miles in the nite time so scary , i wish u understand if u r in my place u litterly crying. thanks. dont suggest others plz

It was a very nice hotel located in calm location near the waters. Rooms were very neat and staffs were good and smiling. Breakfast and dinner was good. Good and relaxing place for a relaxing week end. Its a few km to volendam and its a nice little town. Its a hotel which i highly recommend for a peaceful weekend.

Booked at a discount a triple room spacious and clean , hotel is close to Edam vollendam and monninkendan but a fair hike , all in all well worth a visit

Hôtel très calme situé à 20 min en voiture du centre d'Amsterdam ou par bus ( arrêt de bus à 200 m) -bon restaurant -

Nous avons passé un très bon séjour , malgres qu'ils ne parlent pas Français la compréhension s'est faite très facilement . Nous recommandons .

Var på forretningsreise og er meget fornøyd, hotellet hadde gode priser og var behjelpelig med det meste. Beliggenheten er ikke den beste hvis man skal til Amsterdam men var veldig nært Volendam. Veldig gode bussforbindelser.

Nous avons aimé la proximité d'amsterdam ou l'on peut se rendre en bus ou en voiture en 15min (18Km) le décor est apaisant . nous avons eu une chambre en rez de chaussée qui nous a permis de profiter de la terrasse avec vue sur le lac. Magnifique dépaysement. Le service d'accueil est irreprochable. La piscine chauffée ouverte jusque 22h en semaine nous a permis de nous decontracté apres 8 H de voyage. Chambre tres propre est très confortable pour 3.On ne manque de rien dans l'hotel meme les serviette pour la piscine sont fournies..la classe! Wifi et ordi a disposition, seche cheveux et gel douche bref le top pour un hotel choisi un peu par hasard. Nous y retournerons certainement très bientôt.

un très bon souvenir , hotel agréable personnel à l'écoute,propreté absolut et restaurant digne d'un 4 étoiles très bien placer à 15 min de Amsterdam , et 5 minute de Volendam ville de pécheur très typique de la région. je conseille a tous de descendre dans cette hôtel si vous aviez l’idée d 'aller au pays bas .

Das Hotel Volendam ist ein sehr schönes Hotel mit einer sehr ruhigen Lage auf dem Lande. Die Tageskarte kostet 10,00 € für den gesamten Tag in jegliche Richtungen. man braucht etwa 30 Minuten in die Innenstadt. Für den Supermarkt brauchen sie gerade einmal 10 Minuten. Alles in allem sehr gutes Hotel hat seine 4* in der Tat verdient.

Das Hotel an sich und das Zimmer, sowie der Service waren erstklassig. Jedoch ist die Entfernung nach Amsterdam für uns unerwartet lang und die Verbindung eher mäßig gewesen. Insgesamt war es ein gelungener Urlaub!!

Wir haben uns zu dritt - Ehepaar mit jugendlichem Kind sehr wohl gefühlt. Großes Zimmer, gute Betten, freundliche Bedienung, sehr leckeres und vielfältiges Frühstück. Direkt vor dem Hotel fährt der Bus nach Amsterdam - und das bis nachts um 1 Uhr. Das hat genau unseren Vorstellungen entsprochen und wir haben uns richtig wohl gefühlt.

Propreté, courtoisie des employés, paysage environnant très apaisant, proche de la nature...

Kan ikke anbefales, ekstra skat forlanges ved indtjekning (dog kun1,5 euro), internet koster ekstra 11 euro, morgenmad 11 euro. Pæne, rene men meget mørke værelser, kommer der ikke igen. Pris står ikke i forhold til kvalitet.

Hotellet svarte til forventningene som ble beskrevet i omtalen på Hotels.com. Koselig personale. Vi leide sykkel 3 dgr. og hadde mange fine turer til Vollendam, Edam, Monnicendam og Marken. Grei avstand til Amsterdam.
