Overpriced for quality of room and services

Reasonable cost, but really not the best value. Rooms are not sound-proofed very well and the clientele was very noisy, even at 1:30AM. Hard to sleep; kept being awakened. Toilet handle broke and although the front desk clerk was helpful in getting it operational, it wasn't fully up & running (wouldn't shut off without help) and I wasn't offered another room. Hotel doesn't provide laundry bags (I have never stayed anywhere that didn't have these available and already in the room) and could only get a garbage bag instead. The morning breakfast leaves a great deal to be desired. Other hotels in the Houghton area that I have stayed at, although a few dollars more, are well worth the added expense.

Get hotel to retreat from helping son pack up College life. Wish I would have known there were no towels in pool area, next time I will check before jumping in.

By far the best hotel in town. They have tons of room for parking with snowmobile trailers. Nice view on the water over looking the town. The travel lodge in town was horrible in comparisson. Their trailer parking was 3 blocks away under an old bridge. It was terrible. I'll be staying at the super 8 every time from now on. 10 out of 10.

The only complaint that I had was the multiple trips that each of us had to make throughout our stay to the front desk because our Keys failed to work. Also the fact that they knew that the rear entry close to our vehicles with trailers and snowmobiles seldom worked ,forcing us to walk around building to front (rather unhandy at 4 below zero without a coat when you just made a quick trip to a vehicle)

it did the job

Very convient for parent of MTU student. Breakfast is a plus. The bed ; however, was not comfortable. I woke with pain in my back. This time the it was more expensive to stay here and out of line with quality of the motel.

Close to downtown and Very clean room and hotel. Very Comfortable. Peaceful sleep. Great breakfast. Polite desk help. Close to Michigan Technologicl University. We would stay here again.

Centrally located in Houghton and very close to MTU. Hotel has basic amenities, but was clean and the staff was friendly and accommodating. I would stay there.

I was there for 3 nights. It was affordable and clean basic room. The staff was friendly and helpful.

Clean and convenient at a good price with a breathtaking view on the water.

Super 8's are not known to be the best quality hotels out there, but this one exceeded our expectations. Our room was clean, the staff was friendly, the breakfast was a little sparce but more than adequate and the waterfront location was wonderful. Very close to the MTU main campus. If traveling to Houghton, I would recommend this hotel and would stay there again.

Our room had a beautiful view of Portage Lake, and overall the property was clean and attractive with a friendly, helpful staff. A lovely shore walk runs right alongside the hotel that makes for a short pleasant walk into town. Was a little disappointed with the housekeeping staff, though. They did not vacuum our room or empty the waste baskets during out stay. That's just a small complaint, however. I would definitely stay again.

We were delighted with our three night stay at the Super 8 in Houghton. It was much nicer than we had expected with a two star rating. It had everything that a three and some four star rated hotels have except for no microwave or fridge. We will be back!

Very nice location on the channel. Very clean and comfortable.

Stay was great. Love sitting on the deck or the piers behind the motel, so peaceful. Only wish the breakfast lasted until 11 as I am used to central time.

The check in process was non existant thanks to Hotel.com. The beds were hard and the the room needed some touch up cleaning, the remote control didn't work but both were taken care of promptly. The staff was knowledgeable about the surrounding area and willing to offer suggestions.

Rooms were clean and the hotel was pretty nice for the price. Loved the lakeside location. It was a little hard to find. I would stay there again if I was in the area.

Don't expect deluxe accommodations, it is Houghton. But I would stay there again.

This hotel is right down on the water. The decks out the back are a nice place to sit and relax in the afternoon. The rooms were clean and the hotel staff were friendly and helpful.

I understand that Super 8 hotels are not Marriott's, but the carpeting in our room was very, very dirty with many spots. It only lead me to wonder how clean the rest of the room was.

Something bit my ankle during the night, either a spider bite or bed bugs. Will never stay here again.

location was difficult but beautiful on one side facing hills and water. Beds were uncomfortable and so were the pillows. Hard to understand the attendent at counter.

This was my first visit to this area up north of the us, and my first sight of snow. The scenery was great, the people were very nice, breakfast was good, and the location was very convenient for me. Close to the airport, and close to a small town to do some sightseeing and shopping. Cant wait till my next visit.

Hot tub and sauna were nice to get in after riding all day, hot tub wasn't very warm though, overall it was a nice stay, clean room and breakfast

I chose Super 8 because I wasn't sure I was going to rent a car while I was there and needed to get to MTU to do business. I ended up renting a car, so it didn't matter, but the Super 8 has great/cheap rates for the area and the "lakeside" view room was worth the upgrade. The service was excellent (except for housekeeping, which didn't come the second day because we left the Do Not Disturb sign on until after 11am, so they just skipped us that day. No big deal, but FYI.) My only complaints were the limited breakfast buffet (I'm glad I brought some fruit with me -- I just don't enjoy a lot of carbs at breakfast) and the loud snowmobilers, who were up at 4am stomping around with all their gear. The walls of this place are pretty thin, and in winter it's one of the big snowmobile places, so bring your sleeping pills.

Nice place to stay. Walking distance to downtown restaurants. Hotel is located right on the snowmobile trail, so it's pretty noisy. But I would assume all the hotels get a lot of snowmobile traffic this time of year. Room was clean and comfortable. Hotel staff was friendly and helpful. The only problem we had was some drunk snowmobilers came in around 0230 banging on our door because they couldn't remember their room number. But I've actually experienced this at many hotels.

Beautiful view facing water and colorful trees on ski hill. Quiet location. Walking distance to micro brew and other restaurants. Very good breakfast included.

This hotel is good for the price...except for the poor soundproofing. You can quite easily hear people in the next room (snoring, getting texts), down the hall getting ice, and talking outside in the parking lot.

Nice location on the water and convenient to U, town and the Isle Royale ferry. Staff was not very helpful, though friendly. Room was in need of some maintenance, but generally was fine and clean.

This hotel had a great veiw of the water. We watched a waterskier from out window doing tricks. Great deck area and paved walkway makes it easy to get out in the evening and enjoy the soroundings. Breakfast was normal fare - bagel, waffles etc
