Staying at The George Washington Hotel was a treat! So charming ... clean, comfortable, great staff, location, and amenities. Only wish I could have stayed longer - would have gone to the spa! There's always next time.

Only surprise was $7 for parking.

This was a great find and very close to the facility I was visiting for work. I really enjoyed the historical nature of the hotel and loved the architectural elements.

Stopped here on the way to Pittsburgh and had a short but enjoyable stay. Very clean and comfy with a great restaurant and pool. Would definitely stay here again.

We had a wonderful stay at the GW. We had never been before, but will make sure to do so again and recommend it to our friends. Hospitality was great, food fantastic and the bed was very comfortable.

I grew up in Winchester and remember the GW Hotel in all of its incarnations; of course, it was a novel experience to stay there. It is a very grand old building and while the decoration is a bit "corporate," it is confortable and very convenient.

Really enjoyed our recent stay at the beautiful George Washington Hotel in Winchester.

Our third visit to the hotel. Property is very well maintained and comfortable. Very close to the downtown historic sites and the walking mall. A great value for the price.

Great Elegant hotel. only problem, the corners of the bed stuck out & we banged our knees on them. But it was nonetheless, a terrific experience. Great service & a lovely hotel environment. Lovely room, except as we said, the knees..ouch!

I've lived in Winchester my entire life and chose the George Washington Hotel to get married at and spend my wedding night. The ceremony was in the patio garden which is beautiful! It's a very romantic hotel and the rooms are so nice! The staff is very friendly and courteous! I would recommend this hotel for anyone, even the locals, for a nice "getaway"!

We were on our way from MN to DC and took a side trip through Winchester. We had a reservation but when we arrived they had upgraded us to a suite as hotel was overbooked. Beautiful room, gorgeous hotel, great staff and such a treat. Fun walking around the area also. Definitely would recommend the George Washington!

fantastic hotel

My wife and I truly enjoyed or stay at the George Washington Hotel. We are looking forward to staying there again soon. Our room was most comfortable. The staff was very friendly.

This is a great hotel! Packed with friendly service, comfortable rooms, and great amenities. The bar is staffed with some of the most welcoming people I have ever met and the restaurant is outstanding! A repeat visit is in order.

The hotel is a charming old historic building that has been a hotel since 1920s, but has been renovated to keep up with modern times - many noteworthy people have stayed here - Gregory Peck, Hopalong Cassidy, Lucille Ball, etc. Great pool my children loved. Restaurant and cozy pub type bar in hotel, nice ballroom. Within a block of a charming downtown area with lots of restaurants, shops - we watched a free outdoor movie on Thursday night.

The stay was delightful! The room was very comfortable and the service was excellent. I wish that we could have stayed longer.

Enjoyed the beautiful hotel, the service and the convenience. Not a huge sprawling place, but packed with amenities inside in a close but not confined fashion. Area was superb with walking distance shops, eateries and sights.

This would be a solid 4, if I didn't have two bruised knees. My husband and I both founding it extremely cumbersome to move around the room comfortably. The room is cozy, but the ornate bed posts are very sneaky. I found myself running into them in broad daylight and terrified to get up in the middle of the night for fear of running into them again. Ouch!

We were treated very well. Restaurant personnel were very cheery and friendly plus good service. Breakfast was very satisfying. My husband and I were pleased.

nice..the only thing I did not like is being charge$1.50 a day for the safe...why?

We don't stay anywhere else but the Geo. Wash. between our home (SC) and family in NY.

This was a gem, a real gem! Had never been to Winchester, but had experience with Wyndham and was hoping it would be matched at the GW. We were not disappointed. Beautiful, old school style hotel, helpful staff, well appointed rooms, everything was terrific! The staff, from the desk to the valet to the gift shop owner behaved as though they loved being there, living there, and serving the guests. They had lots of information to share about the surrounding community (a sweet little downtown - pedestrian only couple of blocks) with varied restaurants, shops and historical sites. Clean (spotless), lots of room in the bathroom, nice restaurant and pub, and ballroom facilities that were trying to create an event for. Tops! Again, we will be back!

The hotel is perfectly located in downtown Winchester and convenient to the pedestrian mall with all the town's restaurants. Everything was great until the very last minute, when they pulled a nickel and dime trick. The bill arrives under the door and they have added $1.50 per night for the availability of a safe in each room. The fee is there whether or not you use the safe. When you look at the safe you find a notice of the fee, but in recognition that this is a bait and switch pricing tactic they say, If you don't want to pay it, stop at the desk and we'll take it off tab. Say what? Who wants to pay an extra $7.50 for a five night stay? So you thought you were just going to walk out but now you have to go through checkout to get the rip off returned by a very indifferent clerk. For a Wyndham Grand it as about as cheap as it gets, and after a great 5 days giving you a poke in the stomach and souring your mood as you go out the door is the type of short sighted trick you would expect from a much lesser name.

The GW hotel was a wonderful respite from a long road trip. I stayed alone with my five-year-old son and felt very safe. The food in the restaurant was wonderful, as we're the beds and linens. My only criticism is that a hotel of this quality should have bathrobes for the guests in the rooms.

Relaxing, pleasant and convenient to restaurants..Staff should volunteer more information about parking, amenities and points of interest..all. and all stay was very good .....

We went to the George Washington for our 28th anniversary. Our room was nice and neat and clean. The lobby is beautiful. All staff were very nice. I noticed a few maintenance items that needed attention such as numerous scratches on the wood in an elevator, our shower door would not seal shut, and there was a place in the room where the doorknob had made a hole in the bathroom wall. We had the "do not distrub" sign on the door up until we were checking out, and 5 minutes before leaving, a housekeeper knocked on the door and then did not wait for an answer, but used her key to open the door. Fortunately we were all ready to leave, but it was annoying. We enjoyed going to the various museums in the area and exploring the surroundings.

Beautiful room....did not disappoint! Staff was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was delicious and reasonable at the restaurant. Pool was nice. Minimal overnight parking cost, but the street was free. Definitely will stay again. Charles Town Races & Slots within 28 miles. Great getaway.
