Hibernation House - וויטפיש

Although this was further outside town than expected, we were very glad for our choice. During high summer season rates, this was exceptionally reasonable. Breakfast included hard boiled eggs and homemade coffee cake, among many choices. Rooms were clean and comfortable--much more than the hostel like accommodations we anticipated. Staff was helpful, cordial and accommodating. They have a few heatable dinner items (frozen pizza, calzones) and were gracious in preparing them for us.

The staff was very friendly ,thought it could use air conditioner ,rate was good the staff made us feel at home it cooled off pretty good at night slept with our window open and fan going

I really liked the hotel, as other reviewers mentioned, it is on the mountain, not in town. Very quiet. Friendly staff. Continental breakfast included and really nice lodge with gourmet food right next door. Dinner is pricey, but lighter faster at bar is reasonable and very good.

Even tho it was far from convenience, the beautiful location made up for it.

not my style of hotel I guess. A bit dirty, tiny showers sink and bathroom. Ditch the bunkbeds and grow the bathroom size.

The staff were wonderful. Plenty of fun things to do right here at the resort. Got to do ziplining, was on my bucket list. The guys were so helpful. My husband is 85 and I am 76 years old. The cont.breakfast is the best we have ever had at a hotel. Can't say enough.

A very familiar Hotel with perfect staff and just a wonderful place to come down and relax after a long day or a long trip!

The room was perfect for our family ( 2 adults and 2 "tweens" ). Needed a good jump point for a couple of days of outdoors activities in GNP and surroundings. Hotel is within reasonable striking distance of west Glacier - figure 45 mins to west gate and 1.75 hours to Logan Pass. Continental breakfast was handy and had something for all. Staff was very helpful and friendly. Overall a good value for the price.

Just Ok for saving the night; pretty basic and it is in the mountain winter station, not in Whitefish downtown (my fault for not checking it in the map).

Staff bent over backwards to make this a good stay. We needed to leave by 6:30 am, so they had the breakfast ready for us at: 6:15. Great service.

Our stay was great! We wanted to stay close to the zip lines and this was perfect. The breakfast was very good too. We enjoyed the hot tub and appreciated being able to check out and come back after the zip line to take a shower before heading to Glacier National Park. Thank you and we have already recommended this place to others.

A bit dated, but clean with very friendly, knowledgeable staff. Great place to crash after spending all day on the mountain. Good breakfast, too.

This place has the friendliest staff that made the stay enjoyable. They even let us know that Glacier had been partially closed due to avalanches, it made planning the day more productive. My only complaint is that it is way up on a hill, a little inconvenient for summer visits (great location for winter skiing though). The price was great.

Perfect Once found the hotel was more than i expected .The hellroaring pub up the hill was an excellent place for the evening meal.

The hotel is a disaster. Rooms were musty and stunk of old ski boots and wet clothing. Walls are paper thin so can hear everyone, especially those above tromping around. There is NO value here. One positive note, the staff were very friendly.

Good place for one night. Best breakfast of all time- tons of options. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was a bit small (hostel-like), but everything was clean and comfortable.

After a long, convoluted drive all the way up a mountain road to a beautiful ski resort, we started getting excited that we might be staying in a really nice place. Just the opposite! This is as plain as it can get, like a high school lockerroom or army barracks, maybe. Dull dull dull. Seemed more like a carpeted warehouse than a hotel. I suspect they have this facility empty during certain parts of the year so they figure, "Let's make a few bucks on it by renting it out as lodging!" Whatever. The shower was 2 ft x 2 ft. The bunkbed for the kids was fine except for the lamp 3" above their head. The dressers were actually open shelves like you'd expect to see behind an equipment rental desk. However, the staff were QUITE NICE, and the breakfast was easily the best of our trip! Lots of options, made fresh in the kitchen. We're not at all snobby travelers. We look for the biggest bargains. But for a trip to Glacier Park, we chose a spot way out of the way and were disappointed with the results.

No Air Conditioning. Fan in room, but still very warm. This is a ski-resort focus. They lack focus on transition of facility to summer visitors. Staff was cordial and friendly. Room was clean and linens were more than available. Long drive in town to have supper. Breakfast was nice.

We stayed a week here while we explored Glacier and thoroughly enjoyed it. They were so accomodating. Stored our bikes for us and our luggage while we took our friends to the airport. Great breakfast, coffee and tea 24 hrs and use of a refrigerator in the kitchen. Rates were great. We would stay here again.

We stayed a couple nights here. The hotel is basic but decent and clean. What stood out for me was the great attitude and friendliness of the staff. They were very helpful and really seemed to be anxious to do their best and help us enjoy our stay. Breakfast was good and again we felt very welcome and well taken care of. Travelers note: this is in the ski resort several miles up the mountain from Whiefish. Not a lot going on there in mid-summer so you have to drive down to Whitefish for entertainment.

The friendliness and helpfulness of the staff more than made up for any shortcomings in the condition or convenience of the hotel. Breakfast was especially well done. It could probably get a bit rowdy in peak season but it was nice and quiet when we were there.

I was surprised at how clean and comfortable this affordable lodge was. You are in a ski-in, ski-out location, and there is a complimentary hot breakfast every morning. A real plus was 24/7 access to tea, coffee and cocoa and also the free shuttle to the lift plaza. There is a cozy living room area with magazines, boardgames and a fire. The staff were very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. I enjoyed the low-key atmosphere and I thought this hotel had lots of value.

The rooms are rather small but pretty clean. The bed was comfy. The only thing I would say is that it's several miles from town so if you go off season like we did you need to eat in town before you go out there or take some food with you because there's not much out there open in off season. Otherwise, it's a nice play to stay, and quiet.

The hotel is "hostel-like" with 1 queen and bunk beds in a simple room with cubbies for storage. Both the front desk folks were extremely nice and helpful. The breakfast was more than decent. computer in the lobby and wireless internet. only suggestion would be an extra towel bar in the bathroom to hang towels. Truly a great value in a beautiful location.

We enjoyed our one night stay but had to move on to West Glacier. The people were helpful and nice and the location was good for the mountain but to far from the Park for my need. A good place to be away from things for a few days.

I loved staying here and I would love to come back in the winter to go skiing. The room was not extravagant, but it was comfy. I loved sitting on the porch in the morning and enjoying the beautiful surroundings. I would totally recommend.

I loved being close to Whitefish, MT, the ski resort and only 45 minutes from Glacier National Park. Hibernation House is a budget-friendly hotel that provides a nice breakfast, good internet access in public spaces, and VERY FRIENDLY staff. I would stay there, again, in a heartbeat.

This hotel was one of the cheaper available in the summer in the greater Glacier area and for very good reason. This hotel was very close to the worst hotel I have ever visited. The rooms were practically a YMCA summer sleep away cabin with lumpy beds (including bunk beds). The curtains didn't close all the way, the door was thin and hardly even latched and the room was only moderately clean. In the summer, there are no eateries within 5 miles open after 4pm. Despite being out of the city, the place was pretty noisy an being out of the city, the cell service is of course terrible and the wireless is only accessible in the lobby. This might be a great crash pad for springbreakers on a ski week, but other than that, spend a little more money and stay somewhere else.

initial thought was very "rustic" and old looking. really nice staff. breakfast was good, and full right to end of serving time. room was queen and a bunk-bed (with 2 singles) - great for parents and kids on a budget ski holiday. clean. decent price. good service. Better than first appearance. Drive up to the hotel is scenic (don't drive fast - a black bear charged across the road in front of us when we went down into town at 5pm for dinner). Night clerk was very friendly and chatty, and we had a fun conversation over plentiful (and free) hot chocolate. Our first preference was staying in Kalispell, but we enjoyed Whitefish a lot and were glad to end up here; the Hibernation House was good value if a bit basic.

My daughters and I really enjoyed this little spot. Out of the way but worth it. The price was just right!!!!

The staff was exceptional. Very friendly and would go out of their way to help you. Shower was small and bunk beds were noisy, but if you can handle that, this is a great place and a bargain price.

This no frills hotel actually had lots of extras, great little hot tub, very satisfying continental breakfast and a delightful staff that is really interested in you and your needs. They were down to earth people without any put on attitudes. I will definitely go back!!
