On plus side hotel was spotless, staff helpful and close to centre. On downside, mattress like concrete, room dark and very noisy, could hear everything from nearby rooms

Hotel close to Metro, Plaza de Espana and Gran Via. Majority of staff very friendly and helpful. Room and Hotel very clean. King size bed hard and no tea / coffee facilities in room despite having a kitchenette in room! First impression of street not very good.

This hotel is the perfect location for easy walks to the royal palace and oriente park, plaza espana, puerto del sol, de bod temple, and plaza mayor. Plus it is just steps from the metro for great access to the rest of the city. Refrigerator and mini kitchen in the room gave us options for groceries for breakfast and snacks, with several grocery stores on the block. Service was friendly and attentive. We traveled with two elementary-age children, and would certainly stay here again.

The front desk was very accomidating They let me check in early by several hours. They let me extend my stay at a discounted rate and they were very helpful in directing me to various places around the city. I had a wonderful stay and no real complaints. The only thing I can think of is that the bathrooms had no fan and the bed was pretty hard even for a person who sleeps on an extra firm matress. Everything else was great. I'll stay here the next time that I visit. Assuming I don't have a lover to stay with by then LOL.

We had the family suite, which was very spacious ... good kitchen; however, there were no tools/pans/etc ... to use - may have been available upon request - we arrived late at night, and left early the next day, so didn't have the chance to take full advantage of the suite. For a longer stay, this would be an ideal room if you want the option to cook a meal or two on your own.

Don't judge a book by it's cover! First impressions may put you off this great little hotel. Suites 33 has none of the "extras" that some hotels add - gym, huge lobby, pool, computer center, restaurant, etc. It's home appears to be in a somewhat questionable neighborhood. That said. the rooms are comfortable and exceptionally clean. The front desk staff was very helpful and the neighborhood turned out to be well-situated and very quiet and safe. We spent three nights In November with them and would be very happy to return again. If you are looking for a great place to hang your hat while you explore Madrid, Suites 33 is for you!

Clean and reasonable rates

This hotel is no frills in a good central location. Located a few meters from a police station, the area is safe. There is no real lobby but our family room (king bed and pull-out couch) was large, clean, and quiet (with windows on an interior courtyard). The pull-out couch was not very comfortable and the bed was very hard. There are good restaurants nearby and it's a short walk to all of the major sights in the city. The hotel is a very good value for location and cleanliness.

Suites 33 is really a very good hotel. Very clean, the staff very helpful. Bathroom excellent. Location perfect. Close to everything.I really recommend Suites 33.

We stayed at the hotel for four nights during Oct/12. Staff at the hotel were both friendly and helpful. Our room, which was on the 5th floor, was very quiet. The room itself, which was very clean, was large with a king sized bed and a nice, modern bathroom. There was a safe + wifi was available in the room. Hotel is very well situated close to Plaza d'Espagna (100 yards) and the Gran Via as well as two metro stations. Both the Royal Palace and the Plaza Mayor are within reasonable walking distance from the hotel. There is no restaurant or bar in the hotel but you are able to use these facilities at a sister hotel further up the street and there are many restaurants and coffee shops closeby. We would have no hesitation in recommending Suites 33 to our friends.

I really liked this hotel. My room was huge!1 it was very minimal with the decore, but that doesn't bother me, it was comfortable, and not the normal shoebox hotel room I have become accustomed to while traveling in Europe. No onsite restaurant or bar, but there are 2 markets very nearby, one next door, and quite a few restaurants. Great location, near to Plaza de Espana. The front desk has converters available for those who have forgotten to bring one. I really liked it. I wish I would have booked all my days in Madrid here.

Helpful front desk. Wasn't sure about the neighborhood at first, but it's convenient and just a few doors down from the police station. Good value.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this hotel. Ideally located just off Gran Via and close to all major attractions and amenities. Staff very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was available in the adjoining Il Colosso hotel for only E8 (full buffet). Rooms are very well apportioned and clean. Mini bar prices also very reasonable. Would definitely recommend this one.

Very fine hotel, front desk was very hospitable. Very happy with our stay here.

It´s a good location,very convinient,very clean though very basic.The staff is extermely friendly,helpful,and nice. However,the beds are horrible! They are hard as rock,we both ended up with sore backs. Another problem;the air conditioner,it´s extremely uneven,not effective at all. I won´t stay there again.

Very satisfied with stay. Only drawback was that the beds were very firm. My husband liked that. I did not. Other than that, the hotel and room were very clean. The hotel was very close to La Grand Via, a main thoroughfare. Close to restaurants and shopping. Starbucks is nearby if you cannot stomach espresso (like me).

The room was very modern, very clean and much bigger than any room I have stayed in Europe. The surrounding area just outside the hotel isn't the greatest. However, it is a short walk to Puerta del sol, plaza mayor.

This is a great hotel in a perfect location in Madrid. The staff was very helpful and attentive. The hotel lobby is small but understates the wonderful room. The room is large with a galley style kitchen. There aren't any kitchen accessories but anything can be provided upon request. We loved our stay here. It's in walking distance to all the major Madrid sites and is much less expensive than many of the hotels in this location. Great for families (we stayed here with our 20month old baby).

The Suites 33 hotel in Madrid was located on a side street, a block from the Grand Via, major boulevard. It was surrounded by lots of shopping and restaurants. and walking distance to the historic part of town and Royal Palace. There are 2 metro stations just a block away. The hotel staff, especially Manuel was very nice and helpful. We would definitely stay there again and would recommend this hotel to friends and family.

Suites 33 is close to the metro station and Gran Via, short walk to the palace, plaza mayor and Puerta del sol. Staffs are friendly, fluent in English and ver helpful. We booked a triple room for two nights. The room is very spacious and comes with a kitchen. There is no cookware or tableware so be aware if you plan to use the kitchen. The stay was pleasant. My only complaint is we ran out of hot water during the shower at the first night.

We stayed in madrid for two nights at suites 33 and were very happy. The stay was on fri and sat nights, which are very busy, but this small, attractive hotel was very quiet, while being just steps away from the palacio real. Wireless worked well, staff was nice and helpful. Room nice, clean but beds are very firm, which is fine for me but may bother some. No food service except at sister hotel down the street. I do not hesitate to recommend this hotel.

Prime location. 2 minutes to Plaza de Espana and Santa Dominico. 5-8 mins to the Palace. If you are a tourist, stay here. Very neatly maintained. Friendly and English speaking staff. Very satisfied with my stay.

THE GAL WHO WORKED THE DESK WAS THE FRIENDLY WE CAME ACROSS ON OUR ENTIRE TRIP. THE HOTEL IS CLOSE TO EVERYTHING AND IT WAS CLEAN.

Really nice hotel very convenient to Grand Via St. Short walk to many restaurants and the Metro. One tip - no need to have hotel call taxi as you can walk 100 yards to where taxis are queued up in front of nearby Best Western and save rediculous call fee. Enjoy

Suites 33 is in a great location near the Royal Palace, Gran Via, metro and Plaza de Espana. Staff is warm, friendly and very helpful with any concerns. Wish we could have stayed longer but will definitely go back next time we are in Madrid. The room was spotless, beds comfortable and linen very clean. Great bathroom! and convenience of mini kitchen. Wake-up call was right on time by a real live person and the taxi we asked for to take us to the airport was there exactly when we needed it. Try it, you'll be happy you did.

I travel VERY often, and I have never met the friendliest hotel staff before as I have at Suite 33. It's situated around the corner from the Metro -- a short walk down the street. The hotel is small, but expected for a City like Madrid or NYC. The nighttime staff was so helpful, that he even lent me his hair gel since I was in such a rush and couldn't make it to the store before leaving for the plane! The staff gave no BS, helped with reservations at a flamenco show, and I cannot say enough. The balcony we had in our room was nice -- the view was of the street, which was not spectacular, but for our short stay overnight it suited its purpose. If you are in Madrid for a short time and are not looking to waste your money on a fancy hotel, I recommend you stay here. After all, why spend your money on a room that you are only going to sleep in when you should be going out and enjoying the sites?!?!

Shame there is no tea and coffee making facilities,espacially when the hotel doesn't have a restaurant! Other than that the room was OK, they have air con, but hotel is noisy, you can hear all teh noise from the corridor. Reception is friendly, but the street is bit dirty, but greatly located just behind Grand Via, which is the main street.

This hotel is a great place to stay, it delivers great value and the kitchenette was a nice bonus. The people at reception are AMAZING they really do their most to help you out and can speak very good English. As for the rooms, they are large, clean and simple. The beds are a little firm but I found them comfortable enough. They could improve the air conditioning a bit as it does get warm at night and we prefer to sleep in cooler air. Overall its as good as it gets for a 3 star hotel. The location is excellent, its about a 3 minute walk to the Plaza Espana Metro which gets you anywhere in the city within about 10-15 minutes, plus youre already in walking distance to many sights such as Temple of Debod. If we ever come back to Madrid we will definitely come back here!

We had a very pleasant stay in this centrally located hotel. Our family room was spacious and had a microwave and kitchen area (no kettle though). The beds were a little hard but the room was extremely quiet and we all slept well. We would recommend this hotel to families.

Very good location, friendly and polite staff, pretty clean and comfortable. Worth the money

The hotel service was beyond expectation. For the price, I thought I would get some beaten up place just turned into a hotel. This was not the case. The staff was friendly, multilingual, and the rooms were as good as I have got in 5 star hotels in Southern France. We had a problem with our international electrical adaptor and the the staff did everything they could until we solved the problem. The rooms were comfortable. Not sure the air conditioning really went to the right degree, but it worked. So we were not burning up in the summer heat. We were very comfortable thermally. The street that it is on is a little spooky. There are several bars with questionable characters hanging out outside. But there is a police staition not 50 meters from the hotel on the same street with about 6 police cars outside all the time. So despite the seedy bars, we felt safe enough to even walk home from the center. Next time I go to Madrid, I will stay there. But one warning, it is a suite. You do have a kitchen. But , understandably, there are no pots and pans nor silverware. So don't expect to do your own cooking there. But then again, who expects that from a hotel from a hotel room.

The bed was slightly softer than the marble floors in the room. However, the service at the front desk was exceptionally good. The location might appear to some to be slightly "shady alley," but there is a police station 3 doors down. Overall - Good/

This hotel is renovated with nothing but nice turkish marble.nice big rooms,big showers, service ,alberto makes it the best.location half a block to metro and the metro excellent, convinient, and cheap write from the airport to down town for 2 euros.only set back no restaurant in the hotel ,but their sister hotel had every thing half a block away.

Our family of four stayed for 3 nights in July 2011. The room was very spacious and quiet (we were on the top floor). The layout was ideal for a traveling with younger children, as the sofa bed was around a corner from the bed. Location was great, easy to get around the city, but not right on a main avenue.

We booked 5 rooms with Suites 33 for a family vacation and were very happy with this hotel. The front desk was friendly and helpful and the rooms were clean and spacious. It was very hot while in Madrid and the rooms were a welcome relief from the heat. Within walking distance to all the major attractions. We enjoyed our stay very much.

We stayed at this hotel for 4 nights. It is officially a 3-star but only because it doesn't have a restaurant. The room was spacious, clean and very comfortable and even had a full size fridge for us to use and the safe was free of charge. The reception staff were the friendliest reception staff I have ever encountered in any hotel and every member of staff was the same. I guess that is a credit to the management for choosing good staff. The location is perfect, just a couple of minutes walk from both Gran Via and Plaza Espana. Very conveniently located for the metro. I would recommend this hotel to anyone.

Great Location, near Plaza de España with subway station. 1 block from Gran Via. 5 min walking Plaza del Callao. Restaurants very close (Pizza, Spanish, Chinese etc) The room was a family room with sofa and two rooms. Very large, clean and new. The sofa was already opened and ready to sleep. This was my second stay this year

This hotel is located near all the action in Madrid, about two blocks from a metro stop. There is good food nearby in pretty much any direction and many of the tourist sights are within walking distance. The hotel itself is as advertised. The rooms are nice and comfortable. Ours had an area to cook and a small refrigerator. The hotel was not big on frills, but if you are looking for a place to use as a home base while you explore the city, this is a pretty good, reasonably-priced candidate.
