Rodeway Inn - Chincoteague

Off season this is a value motel and at that rate it is a reasonable value. But in season if they charge their posted rates it is a bad joke. While I was there the heating unit needed to be replaced and the toilet tank needed to be fixed. I did not bother to mention the loose board under the carpet. The cosmetic repair is woeful with rusty shower head, paint drops and runs, badly patched walls and ceilings and patched hardware and woodwork. This all points to the owners who do not invest. The staff on the other hand tries very hard. They are friendly and courteous. The repairs were made quickly in the two noted cases and the room was very well cleaned. The bottom line however is that this motel is run down.

We were please with the hotel, a repeat customer and very happy

very nice, room looked like a log cabin, nice pool, AC was very powerful.The staff was very friendly, my sister left her hat, and when we called them the people working there had tok it in and made sure she received her hat back.I would stay here again.

Most friendly and accomodating proprieter (Harry), and excellent staff (Amber). I have stayed there for years under former name of hotel, always like it for central location (and Lightning - the Assateague pony in the side yard), but even better as a Rodeway Inn.

Rolling in at midnight for an unexpected stay, the Rodeway Inn is accomodating, friendly and will do their best to maky your visit great. If you're looking for a hot night life, partying till dawn, go else where. If you want a friendly atmosphere, a GREAT continental breakfast, friendly/helpful staff and a nice quiet, comfortable room at a very reasonable price, look no further, Rodeway Inn is my next stay in the area!!!!

We have been staying here a couple of times a year for years now. It is convenient, clean, and the hotel staff is always pleasant and helpful.

We visit each year, and never had a problem. This year it appears they have updated the rooms and it was a pleasant surprise. While not well promoted, they are pet-friendly for an additional fee. The front desk staff have all been above average and very nice and helpful.

This hotel is wonderful. The location is convenient and in a great area. The rates were great. The staff was fantastic. We didn't stay for breakfast, but it sounded good.

We had a great time in Chincoteague. The hotel staff were very kind and allowed us to check in a little early. The hotel was within walking distance to a lot of bike rental places. We enjoyed the pool. The staff was accomodating and permitted us to check out a bit late. I would recommend this hotel to my friends.

It's plain to see that the ownership of this hotel is only interested in putting in the absolute minimum in maintenance. The air conditioner does not provide a thermostat, so you are limited to how cool the room will be. The television is at least a decade old. The beds would have been decent if it weren't for all of the sand on the sheets. Flies abound in the room. Not really sure why that was, but we couldn't get rid of them. The walls and floors are paper thin so you can hear anything else that is happening. It is very difficult to enter or exit the hotel due to the parking lot layout. The only bright spot are the horses they keep on the property. If possible, stay at the Hampton Inn or Best Western.

Reasonably clean room, friendly staff, very good service. Very conveniently located on Chincoteague.

This place is a total dump. Maybe that's to be expected or tolerated at a sleepy coastal town, but still, it was pretty bad. The room smelled. Plus there were like NO available places to plug in anything like a laptop except for next to the bathroom sink. The wireless internet is a joke, I was barely able to get a login prompt it was so slow. I arrived at like midnight, and by 1 am I was literally driving around the area looking for another room. Luckily they gave me a full refund, after I checked out after an hour.

Located well, it was comfortable, Staff was friendly. Continental Breakfast was poor: watered-down orange juice, only bagels and a few muffins that might have been there day after day. Bananas were very soft. It was not expensive relative to some of the other places on Chincoteague.

The bed had an epidemics of bed bugs. I had to wake up in the middle of the night to move to another room. It was a terrible experience. I am not coming to the hotel again.

We arrive around midnight, the hotel clerk had my keys and paperwork already prepared. I was checked into the hotel in under 5 minutes. The room was very nice, the staff very friendly. Overall a great mini vacay!

This was obviously a "local" hotel that has been acquired by Quality Inn. The room I was in had real hardwood paneled walls, cathedral ceilings, and crossbeams like in a log cabin. Like most "beach" hotels, the room had a musty smell untill we got the air circulating. The staff was very friendly & accommodating. The breakfast was more than enough. The microwave, fridge, & coffee pot in the room were all clean. My only criticism is that the bathroom sink/counter is not separated from the sleeping area. If you want to sleep in while your companion blow-drys their hair, puts on make-up, etc., it is going to be difficult. Can walk to most of the restaurants & little shops in town. Five minute drive to the entrance of the Chinocteague NWR.

Comfortable and convenient. No complaints!

One of the most economical options in the area, the hotel is well-situated to all the island's activities. Rooms are a bit on the worn side, but definitely passable. Staff was very friendly & helpful and they offer a nice, full breakfast for free.

The continental breakfast was excellent. The rooms were clean but needed remodeling. The hotel is in an excellent location. The staff was friendly and knowledgable about the area.

I stayed in this hotel for a work event nearby and was not expecting much, based on some of the other reviews. But I was pleasantly surprised at how clean the room looked (it is a little old and could use some repairs, but is as nice or nicer than hotels twice the price) and at the service. Shortly after I arrived, I noticed that my shower didn't have a shower curtain, so I called the front desk. They apologized profusely and brought me one about 5 minutes later -- explaining that they had washed it and forgotten to hang it back up. It looked very clean and I will say I'd much rather have a clean shower curtain I have to wait 5 minutes for than a dirty one hanging when I get there. The breakfast was also nicer -- with more options -- than I am used to at hotels that offer a free breakfast. I was expecting toast and some bad coffee, but they had bagels, muffins, a make-your-own-waffle station, cereal and more. The room also had a mini-fridge and microwave. In all, this was a great hotel for the price. I would definitely go back -- for business or a short beach vacation. Might not be the best option for a long trip or if you're looking for luxury.

We have stayed here twice now. Rooms are slightly worn, but very clean. Stayed in January this time, very off season. This hotel is not super close to Asseteague Island, but we have stayed in June and January and have had no trouble getting around.

We went to this no-frills motel off season. The staff was very helpful and friendly, the rooms were adequate, and the breakfast was filling. We'd go there again. It's on the road between the Chincoteague Nature Reserve and downtown Chincoteague.

Room was comfortable and clean and a good size with 2 queen beds. Everything worked and staff friendly. Breakfast typical hotel continental with a few hot items. No worse than other hotels in the area charging significantly more at that time

We stayed at the Quality Inn for 3 days on our visit to Chincoteauge. First the positive--the location was very good, an easy walk to many things and right next door to a great ice cream place. The staff at check in was very courteous and the perk of free wi-fi and a nice pool out front were pluses Also, they offered a fairly decent breakfast (decent as far as hotel continental breakfasts go!). But when we checked into our room, it looked in need of a serious deep cleaning. There was a huge dirt ring in the tub, the carpet was dirty, there were dead flies in the windowsill (ew!) and a cricket climbing the wall next to the bed. The bed and pillows were uncomfortable too. I'd say this hotel would be ok for a one-night stay but for anything more than that, it's worth paying a bit more for a nicer place!

Booked this hotel without much research and found it to exceed it's two star rating. Big fun for kids....the larger rooms were very dated with panelling and the kids thought it looked like a ski lodge. Great restaurant right next door, along with ice cream shop. MIni Golf and go-karts nearby. The front desck staff was REALLY helpful and efficient. Worth the money

If I were passing through Chincoteague, which I was for one night, then this is acceptable. However, for any longer stay I would prefer an actual hotel.

The hotel was very close to Main Street as well as Assateague Island. There is a great restaurant and ice cream shop right next to the hotel. The staff was very friendly and our children loved the horses on site.

We arrived in town ahead of schedule, and they let us check in early with no hassles. However, the room trim was in rough shape; moulding missing in bathroom and coming off on the entry door. The service was great, and that was more important to us.

This motel is conveniently located on Maddox Blvd. and is near several restaurants, souvenir shops, and two putt-putt golf courses....not to mention it is right next door to the best ice cream place on the island! We stayed in room 208, which is an extra large room with a queen bed. It was well equipped with refrigerator, microwave, king-sized bed, and well functioning AC unit. The interior of the room was done in a "log cabin" fashion with extra high wooden ceiling beams and paneling. The room was clean and well worth the rental fee. Service was great. Only minor concern, and only if you want to really sleep in, is that the free hot breakfast which comes with your night's stay, ends at 9:30. If you are an early riser, you'll have no worries!
