Very comfortable. It was kept clean. Beautiful scenery. Lava tube tour wasn't spectacular.

Sharon and Danny have a comfortable 4 room B and B rooms in a rain forest, close to Volcano National Park. Very reasonable accomdations . room had a microwave, toaster, and small fridge. Breakfast is stocked in your room, for you to enjoy. Baked goods, fruit, yogurt, juice and coffee, with a basket with oatmeal, popcorn, ramen. Danny provides a unique tour of the lava tube right under the property, this was the highlight of the stay. If you are looking for ultra clean, sanitized accomdations, look elsewhere, if you want something unique, in a beautiful quiet setting, with character, look here. There is a hottub in the garden.

If you want a hotel experience or a quaint B & B experience like many in the East Coast of the USA, don't stop here. If you are looking for some seclusion, close area to the Volcano National Park and a place to rest your head for a couple of nights, this place should work for you. Our room was comfortable for us (2 adults and 1 teenager). There were plenty of breakfast choices to meet our needs in the morning - banana/coconut muffins, oatmeal, fruit, orange juice, yogurt, milk & coffee. We did take the lava tube tour and appreciated it. I am sure this was much better then the tube with all the tourists in the VNP. As many reviews mention, there is not any place to store your items while you stay here, so plan on living out of your suitcase during your stay. It does get cold in the room, but there was a small heater in the room, we never plugged it in. There is a damp musty smell in the room, but I attribute that to the high humidity in the area. We found our room comfortable and fine for our 2 night stay. We did not find the owners very forthcoming with information or recommendations, but we were ok with the privacy and they were hospitable, but not talkative. Overall the place met our needs and I was not disappointed, it met our expectations. Room Tip: Go to their website and see what room suits your needs best and make sure you request that specific...

Very good location and fair value if you want to spend time hiking up in the NP. Owners were very hospitable and offered good local information........But upon our arrival, we had to search to find them to check in and get our room. Room was ground level and smelled musty, does not make sense to put carpet in a ground level room in a rainforest. Maintenance could have been stepped up a bit. Hot tub was operating but water appeared dirty.

Hot tub was dirty. Expected more for the money. Staff was very friendly and room was very spacious.

This was a fantastic place to stay during our trip to the Big Island! The lodge is comfy and rustic, with very close proximity to Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. We were looking for a quiet, comfortable, convenient place to stay while in Volcano and this fits the bill, and then some, providing the most peaceful night's sleep of our trip. Dan and Shannon were gracious hosts and provided a very nice room, complete with an in room breakfast of yogurt, fresh muffins, oatmeal, juice, coffee/tea, and fruit. We were also able to take advantage of the lava tube tour the next morning, as well! Definitely not to be missed on your stay here, this lava tube is awesome, and Dan was a very knowledgable guide. He provided us with hard hats and flashlights for the tour and made sure to point out some really cool features of the lava tube. We did not get a chance to use the hot tub while we there, so we can't really review that, but it looked like it was in good shape. All in all, a really nice place to stay which we will definitely return to when we head back to Hawaii.

Great location in a beautiful setting, but that is where the good times end. The grounds are pretty much a dump. The office is virtually unmarked making arriving at night a challenge. The room smelled musty, which is somewhat understandable given it is in a rain forest, but nonetheless unpleasant. Bathroom floor was dirty, lots of mold there as well. Breakfast was in the room, toast, yogurt and a partially used jar of jelly. The lava tube tour was actually pretty good. Stay here if it is the only option.

The location is fantastic, but the accommodation itself is lacking. The lava tube was great. Place needs a good cleaning

I was very excited to visit VNP and we planned to spend 2 days in the park. I wanted to find a B&B close to the Volcano and Aloha Crater Lodge is only a few minuted away, a very big plus. Unfortunately the accommodations were not very comfortable, rustic, and I felt too over priced!!! The room while clean, was not very comfortable, plastic yard chairs, TV only received a music channel, no light in the kitchen/bathroom area and the path to room could use some gravel to help with the mud. It was a little hard to locate the lodge keeper, who was very sweet. She brought us to our room and gave us a plate of burnt and stale baked goods, a basket of fruit for the next morning and a diluted pitcher of orange juice. I knew I would be hiking and chose the lodge because they advertised that they had a hot tub, they did not mention that the hot tub could only be accessed by climbing on a garden chair set by the side of the hot tub and then climbing over the edge to get in. I am only 5 feet tall and this entry was not possible for me.

Shannon and Danny were great hosts. They treated us like family. The lodge is in a beautiful location, very isolated and lush. The room was comfortable, a bit musty, but with a homey charm. The breakfast included home made banana bread and jam. We enjoyed the hot tub and personal tour of the lava tube on site. We would certainly make a point of returning to the Aloha Lodge the next time we are in Hawaii.

The Lodge is an easy comfortable distance from HVNP. Our room was ready with all the amenities and the heat was on. We reached after 9:00 and nothing was opened nearby for eating, we had to resort to what was available in the room which was sufficient to sustain through the night. Since we reached directly to the lodge, it was not easy to locate the office which is behind the lodge. We had to call the number to reach the owners. Nice in room breakfast was provided and we left early.

Perfect place to stay for a night before going to Volcano NP. You will wake up and find yourself in the middle of a rainforest. Owners are nice and the stay includes a private tour of the lava tube under the property, which is better than the one in the park.

Very nice B&B and the hosts were great. They provided everything u might require in the room. The neighborhood is beautiful but very isolated. So you might not find any general stores/ gas stations open after 7pm. the highlight of the place is the lava tube tour that is included for all guests.

The location and grounds were amazing and exceeded all expectations !

Aloha Crater Lodge was great for the location. The room was clean, and comfortable. The bathroom could have used more lighting, but otherwise, this was a perfect spot very close to the national park. The owners were also very nice and accomodating. They gave us a bit of extra time for check out, so that was very helpful.

Good alternative to traveling from Hilo to see Volcano's National Park. More like a B& B than a Hotel, Very helpful owner, Apartment has loads of rustic charm.

The Bed & Breakfast was a little more rustic than what we are accustomed to. Breakfast was yogurt and a small loaf of pineapple bread with coffee. No microwave to heat water for cocoa or tea.

The room was wonderful, the owners were very friendly and accomodating. I would definitely stay here again.

When we arrived our room had been double-booked. However Shannon,our host rang around and found other accommodation for us and arranged a full refund. We were very satisfied with our alternative accommodation.

A great little gem just a stone's throw from Volcano Natl Park. A tasty breakfast was provided in-room, providing flexible options for our family and its jet lag. The lava tube right on the property was far cooler than the highly manicured option in the park. Two thumbs up for awesome customer service all around.

the hotel is only five years old, built by the owners Dan and Shannon. the units are neat and tidy and the breakfast of fresh fruits, yogurt, granola, are brought to your room for your selection and leisure . Dan has a lava tube on property which he offers guests a private tour. Very cool! Both owners are very knowledgeable of local sights and will help you make the most of your time there. Hard to find on a a road only 1/2 mile from Volcano Nat'l Park entrance, but the convenience to park and local restaurants cannot be beat.

Situated 2 miles from the entrance of volcanoes national park, is a quaint bed and breakfast, located in the rainforest, that has comfortable rooms, a private lava tube to explore, and beautiful surroundings. The owners are very freindly, and helpful, along with their freindly dogs and cat. The room is adequate with a small refrigerator and a television with cable. I highly recommend this b&b.

It's not a 5 star but it's cozy. Only a few units, away from a major road. Access by a small road. Family owned and family athmosphere. Fruits, milk, juice, some instant noodles and breakfast provided. Breakfast are basic things but enough and if you need more you only need to ask. Lava tube on site. If you want, the owner will take you there. Very close to Kilauea.

Very close to the park, so it was very convenient. The room was adequate for a place to stay, as there are not many choices in the area. The biggest problem - the room was very musty smelling, even made it difficult sleeping. The host was friendly though, showed us around a little bit when we arrived.

Clean, no frills room. Friendly owners. I'd recommend the Lava Tube tour. Better than the one at the national park.

This was a nice property, near the entrance to volcano national park. It is kept up well, and has a little hot tub after a long day hiking to use. The owners are really nice and accomodating. The room was huge and had its own little kitchenette with a mini-fridge, microwave, coffee maker and some continental breakfast items (oatmeal, pastries, coffee). We went on their lava tube tour in the morning, which was really neat and gave us a nive little send-off for the day. There aren't a lot of dining options in the area, but we found a few nearby that were pretty tasty. This was a really easy place to find, the gps took us right to it! We would stay again if we were in the area.

This lodge was very close to the Volcano National Park which made it a really convenient place to spend the night - especially after staying in the park to well after dark to see the lava. Also, the lava tube tour given by the owner was a neat and unique experience.

The bed and breakfast is comfy. The hosts offer a unique tour of a lava tube that runs under their property. We especially liked the tour and the jacuzzi!

Very simple accomodations set in the middle of a beautiful rain forest. Make sure you allow some time to walk the property to look at all the flowers and take the Lava tube tour the owner provides.

Great place to stay if you love nature. This bed and breakfast is located minutes from Volcano National Park.

Decent place to stay near the volcano - very quiet, comfotable, breakfast in room - but no kettle (typical USA - no provision for tea making)

This is an ok bed and breakfast that is very convenient to Hawaii Volcanoes park. Nothing special about the room - but if you are ok with a place that is a little rustic and has a hint of cabin in the woods feel, this place is a fine option for a night at the park.

We were rather surprised by the overwhelming "Christian" theme of the hotel/room/owners. The owners were very nice and accommodating, but we felt uncomfortable and as if we were being "preached" at -- from comments made, to decorations in the room, to religious-themed books and magazines provided. The place was very close to Volcanoes National Park, which was great, but it did feel very damp and musty (it is in the woods that are damp and musty, so probably not completely unexpected).

This B&B was very close to Volcano National Park and even had a lava tube on the property. The owner took us on a tour of the lava tube...which was awesome! The room was very comfortable and the hot tub was great after a day of hiking in the park. The owner made wonderful breads for breakfast to compliment the fresh fruit. It was the perfect choice for our stay in Volcano!

A great bed and breakfast, kids loved it. Keep in mind that it is located at an elevation of ~4,000 feet above sea level in a rain forest, so is cooler than the Kona beaches. Don't forget to ask for a tour of the Lava Tube located on the property.
