The only good point was the manager Chris who tried his best but the heating did not work the bed did not get made the blinds were broken and there was a bowl under the u-bend to catch the drips. 15 minute walk to town.

This B&B was okay. The location to the Vineyard Haven ferry is what makes it a deal (about a 7 minute walk). The bed was clean, but not super comfortable. The room was spacious, but the carpet was gross. The en-suite bathroom was tiny, but had GREAT water pressure. This was definitely a no-frills B&B. We left before breakfast - the staff was setting up as we were leaving, and it looked like breakfast was 5 boxes of assorted General Mills cereal. Despite not being impressed, I actually would stay here again because the location was really great, and for the price, it was about what I was expecting.

First, they should change the name from "Bed and Breakfast"--this provides an expectation which this place cannot give. It is a suburban house turned into lodging quarters. The carpets were stained/filthy, stains on the walls, the place smelled musty, and although we waited until after 9 am, no breakfast appeared. It is in a run-down area, not in walking distance of downtown. The bed was very comfortable and the sheets clean. There was a big flat-screen TV in the bedroom and a nice living room w/ big TV. This place could have potential, but not at this time.

I booked this last minute for one night in August for business. I was surprised anything was available and at a reasonable price. The inn was comfortable and everything I needed. You may view it differently for a week with family, but as a base to explore the island or Vineyard Haven specifically its a good option. The pool is not working.

Easy walk from Vineyard Haven ferry. Long trip from Oak Bluffs ferry with luggage. Small apartment style suite of rooms with dated, moldly-smelling bathroom. Had to ask for more towels, toilet paper. Breakfast provided was yogurt, fruit, coffee, pastries, cereal in kitchen of main house. Close to beach and VH Main Street.

We booked the hotel for 3 nights. The room was very unclean and was very very dusty. You can smell the oldness and dust on entering the room. There were cobwebs all over the walls indicating that the room was not cleaned. The bedsheets also smelt of dust so badly we threw them off the bed. We ended up staying only one night and went to another better hotel as the room was so dirty/dusty my gf's asthma affected her very badly. The one good thing about the hotel was Jason who was very polite and understanding when we said we were going to leave early.

Well we were looking forward to our stay on the vineyard and a the high haven inn is located in Vineyard Haven , a short walk from the main street and car ferry its self.However the b&b inn's swimming pool was not in working order and we had a view of the stagnant pool from our room!Small things such as our towels were not changed,no hand towel/bath mat in the communal bathroom.overall it is cheap and affordable for those looking to do the vineyard on a budget but dont expect too much .........

Good price, comfortable bed, clean room, and quiet mid-week stay. Small private bath and pool out of order. Not a big deal but if the kids were with me would have been a bummer!

After reading some of the reviews, I was a little concerned about what my experience would be. I am pretty picky about where I stay, but I wanted to try a bed and breakfast for the first time and this was a decent price. I wouldn't expect hotel type of services at a bed and breakfast, so I wasn't disappointed. The manager responded to my emails quickly, was always available whenever we needed something, and offered breakfast other than what was out and available. Our room was clean, light and airy. The place is small and is family-run. The only complaint I would have is that they don't freshen up rooms until after the second night's stay. We stayed three nights but our room never got cleaned, which makes sense because they would have had to clean it two days in a row. I would suggest that they clean up halfway through a person's stay instead of sticking to the 2 night rule. Other than that, I was happy to have coffee, muffins, and sometimes a yogurt parfait and a nice, clean, comfortable place to sleep. I would go back.

OK - We stayed here. Let me begin by saing the staff (one guy) on duty was really polite and easy to work with. Absolute nice kid and totally trustworthy. However, who ever really owns the hotel needs to update a few things.For example, it's called a "bed and breakfast" for a reason, yet there is barely any breakfast. Just cereal and juice. You pay bed and breakfast prices but get nothing. Second, the hotel needs serious remodeling. Mildew and mold in the bathroom, the beds look like they are at least 20+ years old. The walls are filthy...We were so disgusted with our room and such that we actually woke up early to checkout before 9 AM. We just wanted to leave after one night. What a waste of money. I wish the owners cared about the place to fix it. The only thing that did not make me blow my lid was that the guy running the place that day was just a kid and really polite and trying his best to be helpful.

I'd like to recommend to my friend.

This B&B was probably the worst place we have ever stayed in, although it was far from the least expensive. The location was in a neighborhood, far from the dock. The manager said we could walk it instead of taking a cab, so we lugged our bags, for over a half mile, part of the way uphill. The room was barely OK. There was a canopy bed, with a noisy plastic pad just under the sheet, but there was no soap, no hair dryer, no ice or bucket, no glasses in the room and no house-keeping or even fresh towels until you checked out. Breakfast was put out only between 8:30m and 9:30am although the manager said you could let him know if you wanted breakfast beyond those hours. There was no available coffee or tea at any other time. There was a pool, but it was full of algae. The yard was dry and unkempt. When we checked out at 8:00am on our last morning we had to get the manager up to do so. All in all, not a place where we would ever stay again.

While the property manager went out of his way to make our stay comfortable, the rooms were hot, unclean (bugs, dirty waste baskets, etc.), and the breakfast was - at best - continental only and not very inspiring. Location is still about 1/2 mile from the heart of Vineyard Haven.

My husband and I were very unsatisfied with our one night stay at this place. First, we never received a call to confirm our reservation (I had to e-mail to get a response). Second, the room was extremely small and not properly equipped the necessities we needed including dixie cups for brushing teeth. The shower was so small, my husband couldn't bend over to wash his feet and he's not that tall. The pillows were flat and extremely uncomfortable. Last but not least, the toilet seat was broken and the only light in the bathroom was attached to the fan which made for a very noisy clean up! Extremely dissatisfied. Breakfast the next morning wasn't great either. The host made us Strawberry yogurt parfait's in plastic cups instead of a home cooked breakfast that my husband was so craving for. We could have stayed at the Harbor View Hotel with the money we wasted on this place. Bad.....never again....

High Haven B&B is an pretentious and affordable spot for overnighting on Martha's Vineyard. The proprietors are friendly, knowledgeable and unpretentious. If luxury is your preference look elsewhere. If you want an affordable stay close to Vineyard Haven's main drag, High Haven is an excellent choice.

Stayed here with my girlfriend for our anniversary. Pretty simple yet comforting. After staying at the campground on the island the last time, it felt nice to be pampered. Probably the most reasonable pricing on the island and is in a good location close to town and the bus to go anywhere else. Clean, homey, and has a very nice crew running the place.

Nice size bathroom, clean room, nothing outstanding, basic. The real let down was the breakfast. Cold store bought cinnamon rolls, three types of cold cereal in plastic containers with milk and that was it. Did have a coffee maker, but twice needed water to be added and once no cups to use.

The hotel was clean but you can't control the temp.they control it for multiple rooms. It was cold that night and they closed the office earlier than they said so we could not get extra blankets or anything. In the morning, the "breakfast" was half frozen or at least really cold cinnamon rolls. And expired milk. And basic coffee and tea. It was cheap though and clean.

We arrived on a Saturday afternoon after spending a week in a rental. We basically needed a place to rest our heads and then have breakfast before catching a morning ferry. We picked this particular b&b for the pool but upon arrival discovered that it was closed. We also learned when we checked in that breakfast would not be served until 9 am "because of the weekend." So, no pool and no breakfast. Also, posted signs said that the office opened at 8 am so we didn't bother telling the staff that we needed to check out at 8:15 am. At 8:19 am we had to call the emergency number to wake somebody up to come check us out. Room was clean and comfortable but the bathroom and shower were very small and there were many loose tiles on the floor. Bottom line is that if you are in the service industry, SOMEONE needs to be available - even on the weekend. We won't be back.

High Haven is a less expensive accomodation alternative to the norm in Martha's Vineyard. So with that in mind, don't expect the guesthouse to be close to the town of vineyard haven, We rented bikes so it was only a 5 minute cycle but if you had to walk it, it would be annoying especially at night as there are no street lights in the area so you are in total darkness. Our room was spotless, pretty and bright but a little too cold for our liking. The air conditioning is locked and cannot be changed so the vent above the bed blasts out cold air throughout the night meaning you wake up quite cold with dry mouth and eyes. I would return again but I would not recommend it to my parents who would prefer a better location and more attention to comfort.

wife and I recently stayed here for our anniversary.As expected as per the rate,we found this b&b to be just what we needed in terms of a nice,clean place to crash.Private bath with flat screen tv,and central air.What else do you need?We plan to visit the vineyard again and this will be our first choice.

My 27 yr old daughter and I stayed just one night on a 2-day visit to see my son who lives on the island. We thought we'd have to stay somewhere off the island to save money, but this b&b (which is newly opened) was a great price. Yes, it is a 20 minute walk from our ferry with a bit of an uphill, but we got some exercise. Some guests were using a cab to go back and forth to town, and said the rates were reasonable. We knew about the distance before we arrived, so we were sure to bring small suitcases on wheels. It was hot, so upon arrival we used the wonderful pool, met some other very nice guests, and then went back to our perfect-climate air conditioned room. Breakfast in the morning was casual - we had yogurt parfaits, cereal, juice, muffins and coffee.

- Our first experience on the island = It was great. - Our first experience in a Bed&Breakfast = It was very well. - The warm welcome, the nice and convenient house and quietness of the place made our trip a very good experience. - The bed was very conformtable. - The bathroom was simple and let say, basic. No bathtub. - It is very central, therefore great and easy to visit and discover the whole island. - We are early birds, so the breakfast served at 8:30 wasn't for us, but no big deal.

Friendly, great location when you have a car of bikes. Excellent breakfast.

Good place to use a base for exploring Martha's Vineyard. By far the most affordable B&B we could find. Only about a 10 minute walk from the Vineyard Haven ferry landing. Close to bus stop - which can get you around MV for about $5.00 a day! If you want comfortable, good value, and convenience this works. Only one criticism is that breakfast is served at 8:30 am - and most guests were waiting around both mornings. I suggest a 7:30 to 8:00 am breakfast.

New renovated house. We had a nice big room with a nice atmosphaer. The bathroom was very small, it covers only minimal requirements. The owner was friendly and helpful (only the lady, the son who was during arrival there, was not so friendly). High price compared with performance is on the upper limit.

Unprofessional and just a poor B&B. Low price is the only thing going for this place. Bathroom was ridiculously small, no hair dryer or toiletries were available. Bed was rock hard and the pillows were so thin they didn't support anything. We were checked in by 20 year old in a swimsuit. Fire alarm went off 3 times in the middle of the night and there wasn't anyone on the property to confirm that everything was ok. This place is horrible. Stay at a camp ground or under a tree for a more comfortable night.

The bed and breakfast (b&b) was very clean. The family that owns the place are nice, not too warm, friendly or inviting. needless to say, we eat our breakfast in the great town of vineyard haven. This was a family vacation and I came to the b&b with my husband and two kids. They are the busy ages of 2 and 3. My kids were jumping their air mattresses at about 10:15am. there was a knock at the door and one of the workers says that my kids are too loud. he doesn't ask about our first nights rest, or tell us that there is food available. I wouldn't stay here again. The room was clean however i couldn't breath while in the room. The carpet was really dusty.

Very nice Bed & Breakfast. Staff was friendly and breakfast was great. Short bike ride into Vineyard Haven and not that far from Oak Bluffs.

We stayed in the Katama - the two bedroom suite which comfortably housed four people. The place was clean and very comfortable. This is more a b&b than hotel - so don't expect hotel type services. The price is very competitive and in return you get a nice clean room with coffee and danish in the morning. You want more you'll have to spend lots more elsewhere.

the rooms are newly renovated and comfortable with flat screen tvs and the rooms are spotless with good central ac. the only problem we had with the hotel was the fact that the web site indicated a pool and coffee machines in each room . the pool was closed and there was coffee in the public room . trouble is that either there was no coffee or no cups available beyond breakfast. Just suggest that you check in advance if the pool is something you are interested in. The staff seems to expect you to ask for anything you need. eg for a stay of 3nights 2 towels and one roll of toilet tissue. They were accommodating once you asked. But a bit annoying to need to ask for the basics. However, the hotel is very comfortable. The walk to Vineyard Haven and the MV Transit is approx 15 to 20 minutes. just a tad too long if you dont have a car. however, the residential neighborhood is quiet and fine. Breakfast was not hot but fine choices of cereal, yogurt juice etc. We enjoyed our stay in spite of bad weather - however, had the sun been out, we would have been really annoyed to not have the use of the pool. so if the pool is a deal breaker, call in advance.

Confusion about our booking meant we had shared bathroom, which we are sure we did not specify. Breakfast was a joke - no choice, no service, no cooked food, no china, and on one day not even the cardboard beakers available. No idea about customer service

This bed and breakfast is hidden in a neighborhood which is nice for the couple that wants quiet yet still close enough to town to walk down for dinner (maybe cab back) or bicycle about the vineyard haven area. Breakfast was cold buffet would have been a nice touch to have some homemade breakfast breads or bagels instead of doughnuts and some milk or cream for the coffee in the fridge. The breakfast starts a bit late for anyone who is working. The Vineyard Haven suite is a nice comfy room with a pretty full kitchen so you can actually bring your own supplies. The pool is quite large (not open as of yet) but was beginning to sparkle as it is being prepared for season.

Me and my husband spent two days at High Haven the week before Memorial Day and we really enjoyed our stay. We stayed in the Aquinnah room and it was right across the hallway from the shared bathroom. It was very comfortable and decorated nicely, as well as having a flatscreen tv on the wall (which my husband loved). The bathroom was clean and had extra shampoo, etc for us to use. The management was super helpful and gave us a map as well as suggested a few places to go. We also liked that we could walk to Vineyard Haven, it was about 1/2 mile (this may be too long for others, but we live in a big city and are used to walking everywhere). Breakfast was a nice mix of fruit, cereal, muffins, and coffee cake. I would definitely stay here again.

I was not impressed with this bed and breakfast and will not return considering all the other options on the island. We recently stayed at this inn, so it was off season, and chose it for the low price we were able to get. I felt the service was unprofessional and very informal. The bathroom tub was not cleaned from the previous guests, however, the bedroom was very tidy. The location was far from the center of town, relatively speaking, and it was initially hard to locate.

Everything was OK. The breakfast was a little disappointing : just cereals and doughtnut, nothing hot like eggs, but if you know that it's ok. It's better to have a bike or a car to join downtown.

Ett vanligt bostadshus som gjorts om till bed and breakfast. Men det var inte mycket till frukost som erbjöds. Vi stannade 3 nätter och rummet städades aldrig under den tiden (inte heller bäddades sängarna). Ingen charm, men fräscht i övrigt och en trevlig liten pool.
