Charmed by Emerald Isle, real vacation atmosphere, 300 feet from fishing pier and fabulous beach, all accomodations close by.

It was a great room and it was in a perfect spot. Only problem was the wifi did not work for us besides that it was great.

This is a typical no-frills beach hotel (not right on the ocean, but very close and also near the Bogue Inlet pier). My room was clean and had what looked to be updated furniture, TV, bedding and flooring. There was a small (very old) fridge, microwave and coffee maker but none were plugged in and I did not use them. The free wi-fi was nice. I could easily hear noises from other people outside but overall the area was fairly quiet.

it was perfect for what we were looking for, which was something close to the pier.

The first room given had a very bad smell, so we changed rooms. Facility was old but adequate.

Good experience

I almost checked out of this "motel" immediately but decided to give it a chance. Completely rundown building, stains on the bedspread and a blanket that looked like it came from someone's basement linen closet. Needless to say, first thing I did was check for bed bugs...all good. Then I stripped the bed and slept with nothing but the sheet. The trailer parks surrounding the motel were disconcerting at best. Despite that the staff (lady at the front desk and two cleaning ladies) were very kind and helpful and the beach is 5 min walk, I don't recommend this place, at all.

It was better than some places we have stayed in that price range. The only complaint we had was mold on the shower curtain. Otherwise the room was clean, personnel were pleasant and helpful, beds were in good shape and comfortable.

had real enjoyable time. walking distance to everything. really had a very enjoyable stay, wish i could of stayed longer.

3rd stay at Oceanview. We stay while waiting to get into our beach house rental the next day. We pay the price because we are close to ocean front and Bogue Pier, but would never pay that price for that room otherwise. The staff and management are very friendly and helpful. We will stay there again.

Great staff (very friendly and helpful), quiet and convenient location, price was average. Room was large enough for us - very comfy. Next time, if I bring the kids again, I'll need a hotel with a pool, but for my wife and I this was perfect.

The price is expensive compared to the surroundings and the hotel's quality.

The stay was ok, not too many frills but ok. The location is awesome , but the local businesses ( sports bar next door) let you know you are not a regular. the service was great at the hotel and the sports bar but the patrons were not too welcoming. I would love to stay here again , and just ask for suggestions on entertainment and food. The distance from the pier was awesome and if we chose we would never have to get in our car for anything we may need.

I am a little bit angry about the fact, that I forgot my european transforming plug in room 206 and when I called to ask for sending me the plug the stuff told me, that they didn´t found it. this is not nice.

A little bit expensive for the quality, but the location was great. Beautiful beach and beautiful bike route.

When we came in, the bathroom was cleaned I am sure, but still looked dirty. The fact that there is no window that can be opened makes the room humid and unhealthy. You can feel it when you were outside for a while and open the door. However, the location is convenient, not far from food and grocery stores.

This was my first time using this service and visiting this hotel. It was a spur of the moment thing for my wife's birthday. We would have rather had a room closer to the ocean. This hotel would be excellent for someone who wanted to go fishing. My wife and I do not fish and go to the coast to admire the ocean and relax. We did enjoy ourselves and the convenience of the super market and the movie theatre.

Room was as advertized. Older motel, but clean and fairly quiet even over July 4th weekend. Staff was friendly and helpful. We will go back.

I am a mother of three who happens to be very low maintenance and usually prefer to stay in hotels less than 4 and 5 star because I have two young boys and kids can be hard on things. I have to say I was afraid to take a shower and use the bathroom and I actually started to search for bed bugs. I seen a bunch of signs that could have possibly meant bed bugs but not a 100% sure. I just made sure that we washed EVERYTHING in very hot water when we got home and disinfected everything I could not wash. We had no choice but to stay. It definitely was not worth the high dollar amount per night. The beach area was kinda up nasty too. The water was full of sea weed, debris, rock etc., and when walking out I was stepping on a bunch of crunchy shells and so on. The water was just nasty looking. So the quality of the beach matched the hotel... Go ahead and book you a room, it's just great!!!

The outside of the hotel leaves you questioning your judgement, but it's just an older hotel. On the inside our room was renovated with new furniture, bedding, paint, and flat panel TV. My only disappointment was the location. It is located directly infront of the pier, but there is also a large RV park behind it as well as a retaurant/bar. There is only one way to the beach through a set of stairs in a privacy fence that surrounds the whole RV park. The name is slightly misleading. It is not directly on the beach, and from the 1st floor you cannot see the ocean at all. The second story may have better views. My biggest complaint is the amount of traffic coming and going to the pier. They flew in and out without looking. It was scary to walk my 4 year old back and forth, so we started using an empty parking lot between the hotel and the RV place instead. It was also a little loud at night as the pier restaurant or bar...not really sure which, is open late, but once inside the room it was mostly quiet. It is fairly near Camp Lejeune and our last night there we heard very loud planes doing some kind of testing until about 1 AM. Given the other hotels to choose from in the area I would stay here again. I have no complaints about comfort or cleanliness, or housekeeping. Also don't expect a lot of breakfast type restaurants if staying in Emerald Isle. Food selection is mostly pizza, subs, and a few seafood joints.

This property doesn't look like much on the outside, but room was nice and had comfy beds. There is a spelling error on the sign outside (fridge is spelled "frigde"), but that's minor and rather funny. I liked the fact that it was well within walking distance to the beach. The only major improvement I think is needed is for the bathrooms to be given the same renovation as the sleeping area. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves out there!

When visiting our Marine son at nearby Camp LeJeune, we will stay at Oceanview again. Close to everything. Walking distance to great food, shopping, beach, and pier. VERY personable service. Owned and operated by a very nice couple. Felt like home. We were detained and didn't arrive until 3:00 a.m. We called out of courtesy and were assured that it would be fine. I will, however, try to stay on the second floor next time, just because of the typical tub drainage problem of beach hotels; sand in the drain. Other than that, must say we loved it here!
