Lovely place. Will try to book again. we had guests for breakfast and paid a very reasonable price and let them know and they were wonderful. we had to eat at 5:30 am on check out day and we told them we wouldnt be there for breakfast and they insisted on leaving us milk in our refrig so we could at least have cereal and coffee before we left. Very thoughtful and accomodating. the bed was comfortable.

A nice quiet and clean guest house. I have stayed here several times and the beds are comfy and it's always been clean. Ideal if you are wanting a quiet nights sleep. The breakfast is from 7 - 9 and is good. There is a nearby pub that serves good pub fare until 21:00.

A nice small guest house. Very clean and quiet. If you are wanting swimming pools and late night bars look elsewhere, if you are after peace and quiet then it's great. Their is breakfast, which was very good (good cuts of bacon and nice sausages). There is no evening meal but there is a nearby pub (a couple of minutes walk) which has both ales on tap and a good selection of 'pub fare'.

Good parking. Friendly host. Speedy and tasty breakfast. Comfortable room. Good shower. Couldn't fault it.

The room has it's own heater, so a nice cool room to sleep in then heating on so the room was warm before breakfast: which was excellent the scrambled egg on the full English was exceptional. If I need somewhere to stay in the area again I would look no further than this establishment! White white towel's very clean everywhere.

Nice B&B, very comfortable with a good breakfast. The only minor for me is that the rooms have a fridge which is a little noisy...

Very friendly meet and greet, supply each day of clean towels, a nourishing and filling breakfast to set you up for the day.

I thought I had booked a hotel, but found out it was a bed and breakfast.The room was dreary, all cream and brown, the artwork was terrible. the beds were comfortable and the room clean. The electrics were temperamental. The shower was good, but it was difficult to shave due to the position of the mirror. The breakfast was adequate, but not tasty.

We had a good overnight stop at the Highview Country House. The grey outside is a bit dull on a wet day but the triple was was pleasant and the welcome friendly. The accomodation is well located to get around the area and the breakfast was very good.

We chose this location because we did not want to be in the middle of a city so this suited us fine. We were close to a village and were recommended a lovely pub restaurant for dinner which was within walking distance. The room was quiet and very comfortable and clean.

This is a lovely freindly place,very nice room,clean and well equipped.Breakfast is great and lots of it.Great place,would go back.

This is a country B&B on the edge of the tiny village of Kirk Merrington, just a short drive from Durham. It still looks a little rough on the outside, but the inside is all newly refurbished and very nice. They might have invested a bit more in sound insulation between rooms, however. Hosts very friendly and generally a nice place to get away from it all, but very limited options in the village for eating or entertainment.

A refurbished farm house a little off the beaten path. It has 4 rooms and is really a B & B. The room was clean, comfortable and was En Suite (bath included). Free internet was available as well. Typical English breakfast in the AM (either you like it or you don't - I do!). They request your menu the night before. This was definately a keeper, a jewel. We wish we could've stayed another day or 2. Take a real good look at the map or print it if you can.

We only stayed here for one night, but wished it could have been more. We were warmly greeted and made to feel welcome. The room is nothing fancy, but has everything you need and is clean. We ate a delicious breakfast the next morning while overlooking the lovely English countryside. I would stay here again.

This is a very well run guest house with attention to detail. Very clean and tidy, good sized rooms and very friendly staff.The breakfast was cooked to order and fresh and good quality. The village is good for access to Durham and other intersting historical towns such as Bishop Auckland and Barnard Castel. We laso enjoyed the railway museum at Shildon. First class the standards of a high quality hotel with the friendly atmosphere and informality of a guest house.

Really enjoyed our stay, food was plentiful and very tasty. Would recommend to others. Owners very informative, friendly and helpful.

I had a single room - unusual L shape but big enough. Nice, clean bathroom. Decent desk for working and free Wi-fi, which was a bonus. Breakfast is ordered the night before but arrived freshly cooked with plenty of coffee. Couple of decent pubs in the village - the one I ate at did standard pub food but was fine.

Have spent a 2 night break in this B&B. Double room was spacious and all the usual facilities good. Was impressed with proper mugs on the drinks tray! All staff very friendly and helpful. Pub in the village 5 mins walking distance with good food albeit with large portions. Good location for visiting Durham as traveling into the city from the south was a lot less congested than from the north.

Excellent B&B! Situated in a quiet, beautiful setting. Breakfast was very good with many options. Very courteous owners and staff.

We enjoyed our 2 day stay at Highview Country House in Kirk Merrington. Both the landlord and landlady were very friendly and most helpful. The location was situated very close to many places of interest. We will certainly pass on our comments and recommendations to our friends. L&J Dixon

Only stayed over for a wedding in SpennyMoor, so didnt get to see much of the area. would stay again. A very nice welcome and friendly people.

We cannot recommend this hotel too highly. Everything was excellent. Our room was comfortable and clean; it was well heated and provided with everything one could wish for including a proper dressing table with electric socket nearby for a hair dryer plus all the usual tea and coffee facilities with the added treat of a fridge and fresh milk. Breakfast was also excellent. The hotel is well situated in lovely countryside within easy distance of Durham city and other attractions. There is an excellent pub restaurant less that 10 minutes walk away - we ate there every night! All in all we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Was staying in Spennymoor on business, this hotel was just 5 mins up the road. Very pleasent stay, the couple that run it are lovely and go out of their way to provide a great service, and the Breakfast was lovely The only downside is that there is no facilities for evening meals, however it's a small downside, 5 minute walk in to the village and I'd heartilly recomend the Village Inn, great food at reasonable prices

Without doubt one of the nicest places I have stayed. The staff were caring, considerate and extremely welcoming. After a nightmare 8 hour trip from London (M25 issues) they waited up so they could welcome me and show me my room. The location was stunning, the room and facilities within excellent and breakfast was a delight. I usually stay at relatively expense hotels and can only wish I could move the Highview with me on my travels as it surpasses all of the more expensive hotels that I have stayed at to date. Without doubt the nicest place I have stayed for years.
