Location of hotel is perfect....located in a very vibrant area of the Latin Quarter. Clubs...pubs....restaurants....city landmarks are all within walking distance. The hotel itself is very basic....nothing special. If you're travelling on a budget..this is the place for you. Hotel could definitely use some upgrades...a fresh coat of paint....and replacing the floors from carpet to laminate would be a welcome improvement. Overall...no complaints.

Nothing glamorous, but conveniently close to everything, good responsive deskpeople, and only what you need in a hotel room. No coffee machine and no kleenex box (which was the only thing I really missed having!), but free wifi and a great cafe right across the street, and a great blues bar down the street. Thanks.

Great location but right next to a gentlemans club. You get a bit of smoke smell coming in the rooms. The room we had was next to the bar I think so we got the boom boom boom boom til 2am or when ever the bar closed. The place is low priced but in a good location. The bed was good enough. The room size was ok. Overall the place needs a redo but if you need to be down town and on a budget it is ok.

The internet Wifi connexion is near by zero. No support offered in the hotel. What a pity !

My room was located just on top of a night bar, so I heard strong music the main part of the night... And the heating system by air did not function, so the romm was raher cold... In spite of that, the location was good, the romm clean, and the people quite friendly...

This hotel is conveniently located on Saint. Denis, about a block north from Sainte Catherine right in the Quartier Latin. There's plenty of restaurants, cafés and entertainment in the area and the subway stop (metro Berri-UQAM) is about a 2 minute walk but you can walk to the old part of the city (Vieux Montréal) or visit Chinatown easily. The hotel is kinda old so don't expect too much, you can hear some noises from time to time but it's not a huge problem, also the wifi doesn't really work unless you're in the main floor. We we're pleased with our beds, they were comfy If you're going to Montréal for fun and aren't planning to spend a lot of time inside your room this is a good place to stay.

Very reasonable prized little hotel in the middle of Quartier Latin. You even get a tiny breakfast included. But it's old and look a little bit shabby. Noice fr the main street if your room head that way and you want to have some fresh air. Clean new towels every day and big screen TV and refrigerator in the room. You get what you pay for and this place reflected the prize.

I stood at this hotel for the thrid time. It's rather clean. It's note the state of the art hotel but it's wide enough to discover montreal. Staff is correct. The sreet is higly frequented, even by night but it's not really nosy.

We stayed at this hotel in September and it was really warm.No A/C in the room so we tried to open windows, we only get noisy neighbourhood and lazy staff (Like a big party in the next room till 4 AM).The room was smelling smoke and cold tabbaco, the firesystem sensor was patch so it did not detect those previous smokers. Next time, we ll pay 20$ more for another hotel were sleeping is possible.

This hotel was located in the midst of interesting shops and cafes in a historic neighborhood. My room was small, but had everything I needed including a refrigerator. Continental breakfast and free Internet was provided. Not fancy, but a great value in a fascinating area.

The hotel is in a great location for restaurants, cafes and nightlife. The hotel is old and could use a remodel. Our room had a stand fan as our "A/C" and was not as clean as we would have liked. The free breakfast should be passed up - just go to a cafe. It was a dude sitting in a little room in the basement handing out muffins and a little cup of juice. There's a Starbucks down the street and a nice cafe right across the street with good breakfasts for $8.00. If you just want to crash on Rue Saint Denis and don't want to spend any time in your hotel, book it.

The hotel room was small, but fine for a couple. The room was pretty clean, but we had no control over the temperature, so sometimes the AC was blasting and made the room freezing cold. The area is very busy, surrounded by restaurants and bars. It's a mile or so walk to nearby attractions. You do have to pay 12 per day to park at a nearby library, which requires walking through a homeless park. The hotel is also next door to a strip club. But the hotel was suprisingly quiet and did the job for a short trip. Breakfast included muffins/croissants.

Excellent quality of room- stairs of course are a drawback as well as unloading if you have a vehicle. Parking was an issue but then again so is much of Montreal. Found $10 lot a block away but it shut down at 9pm and had to resort to $20 lot behind the hotel, Yes there is a Adult Item store there but unlike in the USA, that doesn't mean its a seedier location.

It's not a luxury hotel; the room was a little small, the AC (over which we had no control) was cranked up too high so it was pretty cold, the wifi was erratic at best, etc. But it's fine, and the price was excellent and the location marvellous: right on Rue St Denys, amidst umpteen wonderful cafes and restaurants, just a couple of blocks from the bus and railway station and an easy walk into the Old Town, etc. The nearby stripjoint that some mention is no problem and because of the late-night cafe culture, even late at night the area is lively and thus safe.

The location is fine for the purposes of sight seeing and attending a conference. It was a little bit noisy at times because it's located in a part of the city with a lot of night life. It's an older hotel, but it's generally well maintained. I thought that the continental breakfast was excellent and that the staff was helpful and friendly. I'm happy that the window in my room faced the back of the hotel and that I could adjust the temperature by opening and closing it as needed. It tended to be either a bit too warm or too cold otherwise.

Pleasant and helpful staff, great location, clean rooms. No frills but excellent value!

OK for the price if you just want a place to sleep after a night on the town. No way to control the temp in the room other then opening the window. Big holes in the blankets. Sheets were clean. Staff is rude. Located next to a strip club and very much feels like the place you go to for just an hour with the girl you pick up next door.

The included breakfast is not as large as I would have expected. It is in the basement and they offer you one orange juice, coffee or tea, and a muffin or croissant. That is all. Also numerous people in the hotel do not speak English very well but it is easy to communicate.

This is the second stay I have had at the Quartier Latine in Montreal in a month. I find it to be good basic hotel The staff are courteous and helpful, the location is good, the parking secure (if you use the library parking behind). It is very walkable to Old Montreal and the shopping on St. Catherine street. Although the neighbourhood looks sketchy at times it is safe and interesting. I would return to stay there any time, the price is right for what you get and the location superb.

Affordable and clean. Our room was at the back of the building with a view of the bus station. Only downside was that the heat was too high, but this was easily solved by opening the window a bit. Would definitely recommend to others, and visit again in the future!

If you're looking for easy access to Montreal's Latin Quarter nightlife spots on Rue Saint-Denis or Boulevard Saint-Laurent, plus bargain basement prices, the Quartier Latin Hotel can't be beat. The rooms are clean and the neighborhood is safe. The facilities are cleaner and more secure than a hostel. That said, this isn't a luxury hotel by any means. There's no bellhop or room service. The room temperature can fluctuate at times and there are no thermostats for individual rooms. Parking costs a few dollars extra and is located in the garage under the library about a block away, although you can pull your vehicle up to the front of the hotel for 15 minutes to unload/reload your luggage. In summation, it's a great little hotel if you're looking for some place nearby to crash for a few nights with friends after taking in Montreal's bar/lounge/club scene. But if you're looking to impress a significant other with a romantic vacation, then pay a few extra dollars and take her/him to one of the nicer hotels downtown.

Stayed here over the weekend with my girlfriend after road tripping up to Montreal. We weren't looking for much in terms of a hotel - basically a convenient place to sleep, shower, and keep your stuff during the day - and Quartier Latin met every need we had. Very convenient location - right on St. Denis, which is a major street as far as nightlife and restaurants and whatnot (think St. Marks in NY but much less touristy and obnoxious), within walking distance of Downtown and Old Montreal, and near a major metro. The room was fine. Pretty clean, simply decorated. Solid water pressure in the shower. Spacious enough. Parking is conveniently around the corner beneath a library and costs $9-$12 for 24 hours. There are a few parking spots in front of the hotel itself you probably won't get one. Overall, if (or more likely when) I return to Montreal, I wouldn't be opposed to staying here again.

This was an affordable place to lay my head while in Montreal for five days. The place was clean enough, comfortable and had a private bathroom. That being said, it is a CHEAP motel. The fixtures are cheap, the linnens are cheap and the place is barebones. Don't expect the Hilton or even Best Western as this is but a low-end motel. But it was comfortable and convenient which is what I was going for! I had a TV with tons of channels, a fan in the room, a minifridge, a private bathroom with hot water, high-speed internet and the front desk was staffed 24-7. Overall a great deal and you get exactly what you pay for. I'm definitely going to consider this again since it was 1/7th of the cost of other hotels.

Located in the heart of the Quartier Latin which was great. Was there for a concert at the St. Denis Theatre which is less than 1 block away. Some rooms have windows that look into a steel skinned atrium which limits air circulation and since there are no A/C or heat controls, this can be a deal breaker. Fortunately I was there in September and was fine. Very small rooms but worked for me as it was only used for sleeping. Parking is $12 under the neighboring library and no indoor connection to hotel. No elevator, 3 stories, didn't see any continental breakfast but wasn't looking either. Across the street was a great coffee/pastry shop anyway. Was there on a Monday night so somewhat dead even with the concert but been there on Fridays and it's usually popping.

The hotel was not the cleanest but was centrally located to all the restaurants and shops in the latin quarter in Montreal. I frequent Montreal several times a year and this hotel was chosen simply because of price. If your a student traveling or just trying to be price conscious than this is the place for you.- Hotel also is located right next to the berri metro station. Perhaps the biggest downside to this hotel is the limited parking. I recommend parking in the UQAM Library underground its 12.00 per day which isn't bad and just makes the car a short walk from the hotel. The other biggest downside is that the hotel is located next to Le Gentleman's Choice - strip club - this is a huge drawback for families wanted to stay centre ville. All in all if those things don't bother you than this is a great choice for people seeking an inexpensive stay in the heart of all things to do in Montreal.

it was really hot and the central circulation was not working properly. We felt like leaving the door open during the night. It was only 2 nights, so would stay again, only for the price. Kind old man serving breakfast!

I'm not sure you can beat the location of the Quartier Latin Montreal Hotel. I was able to walk everywhere from Old Town to Mont Royal to Mile End, and the Quartier Latin itself was really fun. When I didn't feel like walking, it was just blocks from a main Metro station. If you're looking for a hotel where you can spend some time lounging, however, this is not for you. The Quartier Latin Hotel is strictly a place to lie your head. The rooms are clean and everything works, but they are VERY small with few amenities. So it really depends what matters most to you - location or comfort.

Hotel Expresso has a great pool ,polite and cordial staff. Overall we really liked our room & modern conveniences!

Overall the hotel offered decent value and the staff was friendly. In fact they let us keep the car parked in their lot for free the last afternoon after we checked out. The location was OK although questionable for having young kids. The only real complaint we had was the air conditioning in our room was not enough to keep it cool. This may have just been our room, as the hallway outside our room was much cooler.

A lot of people have a lot of silly complaints. Room too small. Free breakfast not good enough. Not clean enough. Etc. etc. etc. You get what you pay for with Quartier Latin Montreal Hotel, and you should stop judging it like a nice resort. On Canada day weekend, and with the international jazz festival in town, we got a good deal on 3 nights. We showed up late to the hotel, and our room was still waiting for us. Parking isn't exactly convenient, and they try to pass off the lot under the library as somehow being affiliated with it (which it's obviously not). There was a free breakfast with juice and muffins and croissants. Nothing fancy, but if you're looking for fancy, try one of the many cafes in the area.. The location is great. Tons of bars, restaurants, cafes, etc. within walking distance. Or walk down the street and rent a bike for the day. At night on the weekends, the riff-raff comes out, but they're not really bothering anybody. Just some summer squatters asking for change that look more dangerous than they actually are. There's a local punk bar about a block from the hotel, but that's right up my alley, so I had a great time there. If funny looking people scare you, then maybe this area's not for you. I can assure you they're harmless, and don't stop the droves of posh Montreal visitors from enjoying luxurious dinners. There was a brand new Ferrari convertible across the street, so obviously it's a well-trusted city. After this stream of consciousness review, the summary is as follows: If you're looking for a cheap hotel, in a fun part of town, this is it. If you're more concerned with sitting in your hotel room all night enjoying a bottle of champagne and a bubble bath, you're out of luck.

The only one problem with this hotel was that it had no air conditioning, but other than that it was a great experience. It's in a great location in the middle of the Quartier Latin. It's clean, moderately priced and the reception staff were kind. If you're not too much of a princess, you should be fine here. There's parking around the corner for $12 p/day and bike rentals as well.

The first night we stayed in this hotel we could not sleep. The AC was supposed to work, but it didn't. There was a fan, but it wasn't enough for the 4 of us. I couln't open the windows because there was too much noise from outside. This was the first floor. Next morning I asked for another room. I had no problems with the front desk personnal. They inmediately gave me a room in the 4th floor. This was a better room spacious and a big flat TV. The AC was better, but by the morning we still had to open the windows.

This was our first time in Montreal and this hotel was perfect for us. Right in the heart of the action, great restaraunts, etc and the Metro was so close we could get any where. Its not a "family" hotel...wouldnt recommend if you have small kids, but for us it was grear. Staff was friendly and helpful. One thing, the beds are really hard, but hey everything else A one.

The surrounding area was fantastic. Rue Saint Denis is lined with tons of cafes and restaurants, as well as a great bar, St. Sulpice. Other than that, Rue Saint Catherine is just two blocks down, which features the downtown area. Old Montreal, which is MUST SEE, is also in walking distance. There is no AC in the rooms, or even a room clock. There's a standing fan, and the windows barely open. Other than that, the service is friendly. Go for the location.

The staff were kind and informative. The room was small and very basic. But the bed was very comfortable. Surprisingly, the room was pretty quiet given the location. The location is the best for night life and dining. It is in walking distance of many of the sights of Montreal. Also, public transportation is one block away - which conveniently gets you to/from the airport and the outskirts of the city. All in all a good place for those on a budget who spend most of the time exploring the city. I hope to come back.

this hotel was cheap and clean like. Their breakfast was a muffin and coffee where other places with the same stars had cereal and toast in addition. I found poop on my bead and a tear in the sheet that i thought house keeping would replace. I had to ask them to. There was no do not disturb signs available. MOST OF ALL NO HOT WATER. Its was barley warm. My roomate and i tried on 7 occasions ocver our 3 night stay to get a hot shower, we had to so do at a friends hotel. As a tourist i like to have a hot bath or shower after a long day of travel or sightseeing. Smelling like a bum was not fun, having to take a 'working girls bath" in a public washroom to get the sweat off sucked. When i mentioned this to the staff they didnt bat an eye Also hotels website doesnt reveal there is only one bed in the room, we later figured this out only after booking. Kyle

I picked this hotel because I needed access to affordable parking and liked the idea of staying on Saint-Denis. Everything turned out great. There is so much within walking distance and the lively street made our stay lots of fun. Wireless internet is available and there is a metro stop close by. If I am looking for value accommodation in this area again, I would definitely consider booking here.

I was really impressed with this place. It is in an awesome location with tons to do and it was within walking distance to the Palais de Congres, the convention center where our event was. The rooms were clean and well-maintained, the bathrooms looked brand new, and there were nice TVs and some rooms have mini-fridges. Even though it was a smoke-free hotel there was kind of a residual smoky smell in the halls and in my room, which I'm pretty sensitive to, but I kept the window open for a night and it was fine. I had no problems at all with the service - they were actually super nice and helpful. LOVED the free WiFi. And the parking was safe and convenient - it's in the parking structure for the library and it costs $9-$12 a day with in/out privileges. They also served breakfast (Note: it doesn't start til 8) which was muffins, croissants, orange juice, and coffee (which my friends told me wasn't that great but there's a starbucks nearby and cafes everywhere and a crepe place right next door). I did a lot of research when choosing hotels and this one had everything we needed plus totally got the best reviews - everyone I was with was happy with my choice. It's perfect for young people (we're all in our late 20s, and the crowd in the area seemed younger than us). I recommend this place for people who are on a budget, who want to stay in a place that isn't disgusting, and who want to be near the action in Montreal.
