5 minutes to downtown. Adequate breakfast, rooms were clean with daily towel service. Plenty of parking available in lot. Occasional waits for shower/ toilet facilities.

Just needed a hotel for overnight stay flying out of Reykjavik next day. Super cheap!

My mother and I found the Capital-Inn very disappointing during our 48-hour stay in Reykjavik. The misleading pictures show a trendy hotel, but the hotel really feels like a college dorm that was trying too hard. Rooms were very small, bathrooms were shared and inadequate in number, The hotel is quite far from the center of town, was the absolute last pickup/dropoff point for all tourist/airport bus service. Yes, Reykjavik has a public bus service to the center of town, but buses do not come frequently and the walk from the stop to the hotel is sketchy at best (under a freeway?) This is an appropriate location for those seeking a hostel, but it is not a quality hotel. There's a hearse parked at the front of the parking lot for heaven's sake!

We were very satisfied with our 1 night stay. My wife, myself and our daughter Hannah (1 year) were able to check into our private room early since we arrived on the flight from the US at about 8 am and nowhere else to go and just wanted to take a nap to get over the jetlag from the overnight flight. The Flybus from the airport dropped us off right at the hotel after about a 45 minute trip from the airport for approx. $45 USD. (Kids free) A very nice crib was available for us to use as well which worked out wonderfully for Hannah. It is a short walk to a grocery store (even shorter walk to Subway- 5-10 mins) and mall but a longer walk into downtown, maybe about 30-40 minutes. Great kitchen for backpackers/families, nice staff, clean rooms, overall a great stay. There are some really nice running/biking trails nearby as well as a geothermal beach.

Clean room. The free breakfast was exceptional with a good staff.

The Capital Inn was a decent place to stay for my husband, our five-yr-old, and me. It wasn't incredibly convenient to downtown Reykjavik, but the bus service was sufficient for our needs. Sharing a bathroom was slightly inconvenient, but the bathroom was clean and usually available. If you're looking for luxury accommodations, look elsewhere, but for a cheaper place to stay in expensive Iceland, this was a good place.

I do not recommend staying here if you have young children. This hotel is NOT located within a short walking distance to any place to eat in or near the city center. Also this hotel is a long distance from the airport we flew into and had noisy teenagers outside our room until the early hours of the morning. One male staff member was very helpful in booking bus trips, female members of staff were helpful in getting bunk beds into our room, clean sheets, and phoning for a taxi to the airport. However, there was one particular man who was not friendly. I felt he was not polite when my family and I were eating breakfast and waiting for a taxi.

A great cheap hotel which gives a lot more than it's 1 star rating. Rooms very clean, helpful staff and close enough to city centre to walk if needed.

Good for the price.

The staff was nice and very helpfull in guiding you through the city Very quiet area and just about a mile from the main city shopping and eating areas

We arrived just after midnight at the Capital In and were able to check in with the night porter, which was a relief. We found the room spare but clean and comfortable. The bathrooms are very spartan, but, again, adequate and functional. Breakfast was available early and was excellent: one of the better spreads we had in our 2-week stay in Iceland. The only difficulty we had was with the fact that the hotel is located close to a major thoroughfare in Reykjavik (a city that never sleeps, at least not in the summer), and the traffic noise continued all night. If you stay at the Capital Inn, be prepared with ear plugs!

Stayed here just for one night last week on our trip to Iceland. One of the biggest factors for us when choosing a hotel is the cleanliness of a place. Capital Inn was clean and spacious. Beds were decently comfortable and came w/ bed linens and towels (not all of our accommodations in Iceland did). We had a sink in our room, with a shower and bath down the hall (one for men, one for women to share with about 9 other rooms). It didn't seem too crowded on our stay so we never had to wait for the bathroom. There was a common area on each floor with a TV and couch, but we did not use these. We had a 3rd floor room so it was a little bit of a pain carrying luggage up (not sure if there was an elevator)...but it wasn't that bad. Our room was on the outside facing a highway. We slept fine, but if you don't sleep well, you may want to request a room on a different side of the building. Parking was free. Downtown Reykjavik was a no more than a 10 min. drive. We found adequate parking downtown (free if you can find a place in residential area, otherwise you'll pay metered parking). Overall, we had a good stay at the Capital Inn and would stay here again if we are ever in the area.

This is a nice bargain spot if you don't mind being a long way out from the center of the city. We were told it was a 30 minute walk, but even at a brisk pace, we found it nearly double that. Clean room, decent food, but just a long way from anything.

Great front desk help. He had lots of driving ideas for daily tours. Nice breakfast. Dinner restaurant a bit unreliable but provided a good discussion with others. Shower and toilets are down the hall. Shower stall small and high off the floor. A bit precarious. Terrific value compared to Icelandic prices in general.

It serves the role of a stop over perfectly....if you've landed late, but want to start the next day in the capital, this is ideal. Close to the harbour (5 min drive from whale watching/opera house)....24 hr reception... breakfast thrown in (more than the Hilton does!)...it is what it is but it does it very nicely. Don't expect luxury for such a bargain price, but it's functional and you can't ask for more.

Great price, service, breakfast, location...only one problem. They need to fix the main door. It closes itself too strong which ended up slamming to the wall. The slamming noise spreads throughout the building. That is the only problem. Otherwise, I love this place. Very friendly staffs. Plenty of parking spaces. The place is well kept. Compare to other downtown location, I take this hotel any day. We spent 6 nights here. We got there at 8am. They let us eat the free breakfast there while they hurried up to clean up 2 rooms that I reserved. Before we finished the breakfast they have the room ready. Nearby is a very nice park and bay with bicycle and walking path. The hotel is right off the highway 40. Keep in mind this is Iceland. Highway means 2 lanes street in US. I have a car for the week. Driving distance to downtown/port is only 5 mins away. Parking is easy to find is downtown. I did saw quite a few folks staying in this hotel walk to downtown. There is a Subway sandwich shop 5 mins away. The hotel also serves local Icelander lunch and dinner. Their prices are okay (2.5X to 3X more than US but that is normal). WiFi signal is available throughout the building. I use Skype to make a few free call back to US without any problems. Shower is very nice, strong water pressure. Tap water tastes like spring water. Love this place!

I went to Iceland to volunteer outside of Reykjavik, but wanted to explore the city for a few days before and after. I had a small budget, so I chose to stay at The Capital-Inn in one of their dormitory style rooms. It was more than I expected! The rooms were so clean and the prices were almost too good to be true. They had a really nice common kitchen area, which also helped to cut-back on costs. Though the location was not ideal, they were within a quick walk to many different bus routes, all connecting to the hottest parts of Reykjavik and other neighboring cities. The more distant location was an easy trade for the great customer service and un-beatable prices. Besides, I saw the outside city-centre location as a plus! It gave me the opportunity to see much more of the city by taking a cheap bus ride all around town. I will definitely be staying at The Capital-Inn again, and I would recommend it to anyone who likes to explore parts of the city that maybe haven't been beaten down by tourist after tourist, without hesitation! Best guesthouse ever. So lenient with everything, so nice, and the breakfast was so cozy. We made awesome friends there and had the best time. If we returned to Iceland, we would stay at this hotel again. We miss it already and I would recommend this place to anyone. If you need help getting around Iceland, ask the people in charge. Not to mention they give you great access to brochures and information. Great kitchen, great privacy, perfect. Thank you Capital-Inn.

The staff is very nice and helpful. The room and bathrooms were very clean. The walls are very thin so you can hear everyone. Doors are very loud when closing and opening. Was very hard to sleep without ear plugs.

Having just written a terrible review of a hotel in Iceland this one was a refreashing change. Everything was ok and very clean. Staff were efficent if a little brisk. No complaints at all.

The Captal Inn was fantastic and at a good price for iceland. We were only going to stay the first night here but ended up spending the first two nights and the last two nights in this hotel. We hired a car from here also and the owners were extremely helpful and very friendly. My boyfriend accidently left his card at a petrol station a 3 hour drive away and the staff at the Captial Inn called the station and arranged for the card to be sent to the hotel that evening (via a truck driver coming to the city) free of charge! The rooms and bathrooms were very clean and comfortable - a great stay - highly recommended.

Hotelli oli perussiisti ja huone tilava. Miinus siitä, että lakanat olivat nyppyyntyneet ja suihkun kaivo veti huonosti. Henkilökunta oli mukavaa ja he auttoivat mielellään asiassa kuin asiassa. Hotelli sijaitsee kahden kilometrin päässä keskustasta eli kävellen menee puolisen tuntia. Hotellista oli kuitenkin mahdollista vuokrata polkupyörä. Aamupala oli hyvä.

Jeg havde brug for et sted at overnatte en enkel nat i forbindelse med en gennemrejse. Valgte stedet, pga. prisen. Ganske billig for en standard enkelt værelse, men det var faktisk en rigtig god oplevelse jeg havde på hotellet. Jeg havde en busbillet til Keflavik lufthavnen morgenen efter, fra midtbyen, det vidste sig at jeg kunne blive hentet på hotellet i stedet for at køre taxa ind. Det sørgede receptionen for at hjælpe mig med. Rigtig god service. Rigtig god hotel for gennemrejsende.

Da det er klart det billigste sted at bo i Reykjavik er det værd at bo der. Beliggenheden er ikke fantastisk - ca. 45 min. gang til centrum. Jeg boede på et 4-mandsværelse bestående af to køjesenge, men heldigvis var vi kun to på værelset. Havde vi været 4 var værelset slet ikke stort nok. Køjesengene var i øvrigt lavet af træ, og virkede ret skrøbelige. Toiletterne er ikke på værelserne, og de er af en kvalitet man kan forvente til prisen. Et af plusserne er dog at man har mulighed for at tilberede sin egen mad i det store køkken på gangen. Her er både tallerkner, gryder, pander, service osv. Man vasker op efter sig selv, og så kan man møde andre mennesker fra hotelllet. Derudover har man et stort kølerum til rådighed, så ens kølevarer kan holde sig lidt længere.

Morgunverðurinn var ágætur og herbergið fínt (hefði þó þegið ísskáp og ketil þar sem ekki var aðgangur að eldhúsi). Erfitt var að hafa opinn glugga vegna hávaða frá Kringlumýrarbraut. Herbergið var hreint og þægilegt og snyrtingarnar þokkalegar. Sums staðar mátti sjá þörf á viðhaldi. Um allt hótelið lék sterk matarlykt allan tímann og djúpsteikingarlyktin fyrri daginn var næstum óþægilega mikil. Hvaðan þessi lykt kom veit ég ekki, en á þessu þyrftu gestgjafar að ráða bót. Annars voru allir hinir almennilegustu og við gistum þarna áreiðanlega aftur.

Udefra ser hotellet flot ud, og selvom det ligger tæt op ad stor vej er det generelt ikke en stor gene. Indefra har jeg kun set "kælderen"(den billige del), men her var også hyggeligt med mulighed for snak med andre folk fra verden over som boede der mere langtids. Lidt sløv service i receptionen (men jeg kom også sent og forlod tidligt). Ret nemt at finde og i "kælderen" er der køkken (med stort køleskab/fryser(?)) til selv-benyttelse, samt billardspil og 4-mands værelser samt fælles bad-toilet (mænd og kvinde dog for sig ;) ). I helheden ser kælderen lidt slidt ud og måske ikke helt ideelt mht. detaljer så som stikkontakers placering o.ling., men generelt bedre end jeg havde forventet til den pris. Det ligger et stykke fra bymidten, men ad de hyggelige gåstier, isoleret fra de store veje, tager det kun omkring 30-40 min at gå ind til centrum (og med en næsten selvfølgelig bil tager det ikke mange minutter). I øvrigt gåafstand til Perlen og ikke langt fra Reykjavik lufthavn(REK).

Mjög fín, eina að það er svolítið hljóðbært á milli herbergja. Annars er þetta rosalega fínt gistiheimili :)

Algerlega frábær ,starfsfólkið þægilegt og skemmtilegt ,herbergið mjög snyrtilegt og rúmið þægilegt ,ég á örugglega eftir að koma aftur.

Fint hotel med god service og ikke mindst en pris de fleste kan være med på. Området er utrolig natur skønt selv om det ligger i en stor by kan varmt anbefales og kan bestemt godt finde på at booke det igen

Très bon accueil dans cet hôtel au cœur de Rochefort, notre chambre donnait sur une cour intérieur ravissante et calme. Sa situation est idéale pour visiter la ville et ses musées à pied notamment grâce au plan donné par l'hôtelier. Excellent rapport qualité/prix : petit déjeuner très riche avec certains produits "maison", entretien des chambres impeccable, le personnel de bons conseils pour les visites et la restauration sur la ville... Nous reviendrons les yeux fermés dans cet établissement lors de notre prochain séjour à Rochefort! Merci!

Nice hotel for a nice price. It takes about 10 min to walk downtown. The staff is friendly, helpfull and have good humour. Nxt time staying same place, but with a car.

Prices are High ón hotels in Iceland so compaired to other hotels you get a Nice hotel for Tour money. Could have been nice with a bigger bed and the duvets/bedsheets Were so thick so you Could hardly sleep. Nice clean, good breakfast. If you have a car it is very easy to get to the town and the airport.

The hotel has overbooked the deluxe rooms; when we arrived we had not been informed and were given a basic room. We had to complain and were then given the possibility of a free meal or to go to another hotel. Avoid the rooms on the side of the high-way as they are really noisy.

Huone oli kellarikerroksessa, jossa ei netti toiminut vaikka hotelilla oli ilmainen nettiyhteys. Vastaanottovirkailija neuvoi ystävällisesti käyttämään ylimmän kerroksen kokoontumistilaa ja siellä se toimi. Hotellin ryhmämajoitushuoneet ja wc-/suihkutilat eivät olleet erikseen naisille ja miehille vaan yhteiset. Ruokailutila oli erittäin epäsiisti, tosin jääkaappi eli kylmähuone oli erittäin tilava. WC-pönttöjä oli kellarikerroksessa vain kaksi, josta toinen valui koko ajan ja toisen istuin oli irti. Varhaisaamiaista ei ollut tarjolla vaikka aamiainen kuului huoneen hintaan. Aamiashenkilö tuli vasta klo 7 töihin ja lähtö oli jo klo 5.30. Kyseessä oli vain yhden yön majoitus.
