Probably the most uncomfortable stay I ever had. It was in the mid 20s when we checked in at about 9:30pm. The room was so cold we were cold with our coats on. I would guess in the mid 40s. The heater emitted a barely lukewarm flow,but we were assured that it would"run us out of the room". It eventually did, but not until the next morning, after we had slept with extra blankets and our clothes on! The room was paid for,the fee was not refundable after 7;00pm so why was the heat not turned on? The staff did not seem to think it was a problem, blaming each other for the lack of preparation. Breakfast was worse than dismal.

Overall, it's a decent place to stay for a night. I enjoyed having the microwave and fridge. It was very clean and it had been renovated. My non-smoking room, however, smelled heavily of smoke and the walls were paper thin...if you know what I mean. So not again if there are other options. Thanks to the person who said to park in the back. Good suggestion.

Owners - very nice. Gave us room on ground floor - so we did not have to hump cases up stairs. If you want a touch of nostalgia - pick up free postcard of Cool Harbor Motel from front desk!! Postcard pic must have been taken in late 50's / 60's.Breakfast not great - very basic cereal & toast!However, good value for money.

OK for a night. Suggest if you stay here, park in rear lot as it easier to leave.

It was definitely an older building. The room I was given had been redone, so it was decent. By far the best part was the person that checked me in. She was extremely friendly and personable, and made be feel very welcome.

great time, the staff was more than willing to accomodate my motorcycle association. Quite friendly. The rooms are simple, not a top of the line type place, but great place for a night or two. I highly reccommend this motel if you find yourself staying the night in the area.

Stayed here for the first night of my trip traveling the Blue Ridge Parkway. Perfect! Cleanest, quietest hotel of them all. Everything in room worked. I made reservations after reading all the reviews. Another guest complained about the size of the rooms. Room was a bit small compared to other places I stayed. But, I'd give up space for the clean and quiet anyday! Will stay again and will spread the word about this little jewel!

Yes, the hotel was fine. We had a problem with the smoke detector "beeping" and it was fixed within 30 minutes. Minimum continental breakfast but just enough to get us going in the morning and continue on our way. There was a nice kitchenette area which we did not expect.

No glitz or glamor here. The amenities are very basic. The blanket on the bed was worn. The hotel is "vintage" but nice & clean. Breakfast was very basic, cereal, donuts from a bag, begals, toast. Overall a good value. My one complaint is that there was no night lock for the door. If I were a female traveling alone I would NOT feel safe here.

Our stay was very brief. Debbie at the desk was very friendly. The only problem we had was finding the place as we didn't know the city and we didn't have a phone number for the hotel. I am buying a GPS today. Was pleased that the rear parking made the rooms accessible for my two disabled companions.

No it is not new, but the location is great, the area seems safe and the room was super clean. As a one night stay, it is a good choice.

The hotel was very nice and clean and very close to what we wanted to do. The Skyline Road, vineyards, horseback riding and ballooning. For the price you really couldn't complain.

Couldn't believe how easily accessible this motel was from the main hwy. The rooms looked as if they were just painted in a high gloss paint - ours was a beautiful yellow. The outside does need some painting and fixing up.

I was very happy with the room and the neighborhood. It was within walking distance of restaurants and convience stores. The room was clean and comfortable.

Older style motel with outside entrances. Room was a lot smaller than I expected but it was also very clean. We only stayed as a driving break for one night but wouldn't want to stay beyond that because of the cramped feel.

The hotel was very nice for the price and what you get. Don't expect anything fancy but definitely safe, well-located and clean. What was extra special was simply the staff who were extra-accommodating when we needed to upgrade our room at the last minute. They were extra helpful and didn't even charge us. I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a nice place to stay at a very good price!

Five minute drive to downtown Front "Royal VA. This place is a throwback to the 40s/50s but with a 80s TV in our room. Apparently some rooms have been renovated, and although clean ours had new furniture a hard mattress and worn carpeting but still reminded me of places I stayed years ago. Location and price will make me consider it again when passing that way.

Simple but comfortable room. Close to the city center, skyline and supermarket. Staff was nice

This is an older motel. It was clean, but needs some updating. There is an outdoor pool that did not seem to be used by anyone. The staff was not very friendly and the breakfast was not impressive. Having said that, if you are just looking for a place to stay the night, this will do.

The motel is not fancy or elegant, but neither is the town :-) The front desk clerk was friendly. The room was very clean and well maintained, and included a small frig and microwave. The bed was comfortable and the heat/AC unit worked without problems. The continental breakfast was sparse but adequate. The price was very fair. The motel was exactly what I was looking for, a nice place for a one night stay before I hit Skyline Drive. I would definitely come back and recommend it to others.

Enjoyed everything about this hotel except the WIFI. There were 3 WIFI services and none of them worked. I could not connect to any of them successfully. I reported all problems to the staff and they acknowedged the problem but could not get it fixed.

This is a very nice hotel for the money. Front desk is very nice and helpful. Older property but my room had been refinished and was very nice.

Walking distance to restautants.

Clean, comfortable, quiet, few amenities but adequate for our needs. Poor breakfast compared to other inexpensive motels. No milk available for cereal either morning. No juice, extremely limited selection. Good location for exploring Shenandoah & surrounding areas.

We felt a little apprehensive from some of the bad reviews, and when we arrived the front desk clerk was slouched at the front door grabbing a smoke, and there were dirty cobwebs that covered our door, however when we walked into the room we were very pleasantly surprised. The room was small, cute, and VERY clean. A little management/employee training, and a little sprucing up on the outside would make a huge difference. One last note, the front desk clerks were very friendly, just need trained on first impressions.

Your advertising is wrong, we booked a 2 queen bed room and found 1 queen and 1 double in the room. People were nice enough.

It is nice to stay where the owners/staff really care! Took calls and passed on messages when we had problems with our rental car. So close to the start of the Skyline Drive, don't forget to call in the visitor centre downtown.

Outside of hotel needed work. Room was like new. Needed a place to stay before riding skyline, worked great.

The room had been recently updated, new carpeting and bathroom tile. It was very spacious with lots of dresser and counter area. We did not use the outside pool but, it was clean. The outside looks dated but a gem on the inside. We would stay at this hotel in the future.

I was utterly surprise to step into a very clean hotel. Love the toilet message that said "Sanitze for your protection". You don't even see this at the Hilton!! Staff was friendly. A bit hard to locate, but one can not pass this hotel by because it is the CLEANEST ROOM EVER!!!!!

The motel obviously has some age on it, but we found it to be very clean and inviting. The pool was cool & refreshing, and I loved the Koi pond!! The room was a bit on the small side and could've used an updated TV, but again, the room was EXTREMELY clean and quite comfortable. If I could recommend any improvement, it would be to make the entire hotel smoke free (although our room was smoke free, the room next door wasn't and the smoke was very strong in the hallway).

Very impressed for not being a franchise hotel, which means they do it because they want to, not because they have to. Very rare to find.

The room was clean, the staff was friendly, the price was right.

Was very impressed with our overnight night stay. Staff was very friendly when checking in very late at night the room and hotel were very cozy. And the best part was the cost was Reasonable!! The only thing i could see neg. about the hotel was the sheets didnt fit the bed , kept slipping off the edges, but hey dealt with that just fine! :)

Cool Harbor Motel was perfectly situated in Front Royal. Good food around the corner, clean room, GREAT outdoor pool, friendly staff, ample parking.

The staff was very friendly, hotel was clean. If I were to go back to this town again I would stay there again,
