Stanford Inn - Stanford Univ/ Medical Center - מנלו פארק

I stayed one night with my niece and two four year olds. At first they put us in a room with wrong size beds but promptly moved us to another room. I liked the old style feel of the rooms and the room was bright with plenty of space. Parking was horrible with only five spots for the whole hotel. I suspected that our bedding wasn't changed since our pillow cases were dirty. My niece left her hair straightner in the room and after calling to confirm it was there we went back to pick it up. It had somehow dissappeared. I would request new bedding right away if you choose to stay here.

Although it's conveniently close to Stanford it is not worth staying here. Parking is not abundant. There were black streaks on the pillows and cigarette burns on the comforters. There were screws holding the door mechanism together, we did not feel safe. So we left and stayed elsewhere.

Lots of hair on the bed. The AC was noisy. You can hear everything going on on the streets. No elevator. No staff working in the morning. No breakfast! Price is good for the location. Took me 5 mins to walk to Stanford shopping center, 20 mins to Stanford hospital. Stay here only if you're on a tight budget, have to stay near Stanford, and dont mind hair on the bed. Bring ear plugs!

For the price, this accommodation is fantastic. We will definitely stay again. The place is clean and tidy, with a good kitchen available for those staying on a longer trip and who don't want to eat out every night. It's close enough to public transport, and has enough parking on and near site for those who want to drive.

It's a mix of the hotel in "My Cousin Vinny" and Bruce Willis' hotel in "Pulp Fiction". They cleaned the hotel every day but just not as thoroughly as what I'm used to and they changed the towels with clean ones every day. Overall, it was just okay. It's REALLY cheap but amazing location.

The manager was friendly and helpful. The room was advertised as having a kitchen..no kitchen. Unsafe as the front door had daylight and a big gap. paint peeling... very noisy.. the guy next door was snooring and it felt like he was in my room! I stay in Menlo Park/Atherton often but will not stay here again!

the hotel was so old there was no parking and Stanford called and left a message for us and the office didn't tell us about it. We wouldn't even take a shower it looked so bad. The room was very big but no one knew how to operate the tv correctly. Will never stay there again.

The hotel room was clean and had updated imenitites, but that was about it for the plus side of things. The outside courtyard was not kept up to the standard as seen in photos from the site and was in need of a lot of general mantainance. Upon check in, I was greeted cheerfully and when I was stating I had a reservation and gave my name, I was given a plain wihte envelope with my name and room number on it with the key enclosed. I was not asked for ID or any form of confirmation to affirm I was who I said I was. Security is definatley lax, I was glad I remembered to pack my sidearm with me. The hotel claims to have a 14 unit complex which is true, but the parking is very inadequate with only 5 parking spaces on premesis and 3 of those being taken up by ownership. I was offered a parking pass to park on the adjacent street which gave no securtiy to my personal property. I don't expect to return to this establishment any time soon. In closing, I would not recommend this to any friends or family, especially any single females traveling.

I do not recommend staying here. It was not clean at checkin and we bought cleaning supplies ourself to clean as there was still urine in the toilet and coffee in the coffee pot. I would never stay here again.

I loved the location and the front desk clerk was very friendly and helpful. I loved the size of the room perfect for families and those visiting for long periods would enjoy the studio apartment type layout. I had requested a quiet room which was off the main street (El Camino) however the constant slamming of door next to mine and the loud noise from the upstairs room required me to wear ear plugs. The shower was a little funky and smelled mildewing and it dripped non stop. Fortunately the door closed and blocked it out. The negatives would be bed was well worn and bit lumpy, sheets had what appeared to be metal dryer streaks on them and most importantly, the front door was flimsy, had a simple bedroom door lock and the chain was broken. OTHERWISE, a decent hotel.

NOT GOOD AT ALL. IT'S DIRTY.

The location is great. But the hotel is badly in need to renovation. The owners live on premises, and while courteous, don't know what professional hospitality and service means. Room is better than some bottom of the line budget motels. But that is not saying a lot because this place is still pricey. Staying once was ok but not again. Live in Mountain view instead if you can drive.

I was very dissappointed with my stay. The room had stained chairs. The kichenette was not stock with dishes, glasses or any of the things needed to use it. The main reason for picking this location was the location to Stanford and kichenette. Pay for you get!!!

Great place to stay, has a B&B feel and is very comfortable. One note, if you're getting in late at night, there may be no one at the check in so your keys will be left in an envelope on the desk of a check in office. Not a worry, but just something to know as a heads up.

I read a lot of negative reviews about this inn, but it was the only place in the area that had a room available in the area I was looking for- and the price was right. The location was great, but parking was very limited and inconvenient. The room itself had a lot of charm. There was a fully functioning kitchen including a gas stove, fridge and freezer, and microwave. I believe these places may even be available for long term rental. There are only two issues I wish to comment on negatively. One is that the only ventilation is a small window in the tiny bathroom that does not have a screen on it. The other is that the place needs a serious deep cleaning. The bedding and towels were clean, but the room itself had a lot of dirty corners, baseboards, and windowsills. There were also spiderwebs in the corners, and a chair that had filthy upholstery. Overall, I was pleased. The room met my needs and more, and I think the negative ratings I have seen were a little harsh.

A small place, well located if you have a car (right between Menlo Park and Palo Alto on the main road), but a bit of a lonely walk along a big road without one. Still, pretty close to Menlo Park's downtown and the Caltrain station, which was great. The place itself is quite old but homey, like living in an old apartment building. I was given the room nearest to the street corner on the main road. Nice and spacious, if aged, and with a whole kitchen. The main problem was the noise - since it's an old place and the room was just a few feet from the road, the rumble of the big trucks going by on the highway at hight speeds really echoed through the place. I managed, but it was as bit stressful to be awash in traffic sound constantly.

I wish I could say "it's not that bad" but, it really was not nice staying here. The place is just so old. My room actually had a lot of character - beautiful wood flloors - but the windows barely worked and had no screens, it was incredibly hot in my room and the portable air conditioner just didn't fit the bill, the toilet seat was broken, lots of dust bunnies on the floor, and I could hear every single car that passed on the nearby road - very difficult to hear the TV, much less get any sleep. The people there were so nice and it's clearly a family business. I'm sure they work hard.

I had reserved a ground floor room more than 1 month in advance for my mother who cannot climb stairs. I received confirmation that a ground floor room was booked, but when we arrived the desk clerk on duty said only a second floor room was available. She was rude, offered no help, and did not attempt to contact the manager, who was not on site. I was eventually able to contact the manager, who helped resolve the situation, but the desk clerk was really bad. Also the hotel looked terrible.

The name of the hotel is Stanford Inn, though the keys still read "Stanford Arms" - a throw back to another era. This hotel is exactly that. It looks and feels like it was built in the early 50's. The suite I had was spacious with a real kitchen, dinnette, a living area with wood floors and an oriental rug, and besides the bed, a daybed in its own alcove. But EVERYTHING was tired and hadnt been updated in decades. The kitchen sports a water heater. The bathroom floor tile glaze had long worn off. The shower featured mold in the grouting, especially towards the top and the junction with the wall, not to mention the wall itself above the tile. The towels were rough and felt crusty, and the entire place smelled old. Outside my room the carpet on the stairs leading up to my level was old, worn, and stained. Clearly this place could use a make over -big time! It could be charming if they spent a bit on updates to attract the retro-seeking crowd. But for what I got, I am not sure they shouldnt have paid ME to stay. Love the neighborhood - close to the mall and a bike path for jogging, but next time I am checking out the Best Western Riviera next door.

real cool place, real kick back type - if you expect 5 star, not for you though, just a nice room, comfortable bed and super location to relax and kick back.

This hotel is old, it also appears that some of the units are being used as apartments, HOWEVER, the unit was clean, the beds were comfortable, could have comfortably slept 5. Having the kitchen was a god sent. My grandson was at the Lucille PAckard hospital, and for the price and the convenient location, we almost couldn't ask for more. I would reccomend again, with the disclaimer that is it an older hotel...but totally suited our needs.

A decent hotel. I had a kitchen and plenty of room. Nothing fancy, but the rate was so much lower than the higher end hotels down the street. It took me 5 minutes to drive to the conference every morning.

The price was too high and need a lot of up grading.

This hotel is run by a very nice family and it has a certain old-fashioned motor-court charm. However, it is too run-down and poorly-maintained to really be worth staying at. Leaky faucets, grumbling refrigerator, threadbare towels, and a mildewed shower curtain slapped up in a shower that was missing half its sliding shower door -- not to mention strange smells and loud noises coming through the ceiling and walls -- made this a less than pleasant stay. I was awarded a room with a kitchen. Strangely, the room included a number of pots and pans, but no stove. I still don't know what to make of that.

Awful. Awful. Awful. Motel old, rugs dirty, noisy location, both truck traffic and train. Beds old with dated linens, bed spread. Bathroom difficult to navigate and moldy. Over priced for what you get. Up side was location close to medical center. New bed with new mattress and bedding and new rug would help. Best Western or similar would be much better choice and cheaper even tho little farther away fm med center. No use for tiny kitchen and large TV with game wires strung all over.

Very convenient to go to the hospital the following day for surgery. Otherwise would have to drive from home about 90 miles away in morning comute traffic

This place is more motel than hotel. The rooms are older and run down; bathroom tile grout - both in the shower and around the floor - was full of mildew and cracks. Towels in the bathroom also didn't match and were often frayed at the edges. The walls in the bathroom, kitchen, closet and bedroom/living room all have been patched and touched up with paint/dry wall mud that didn't match. Tthe kitchen was "outfitted" with random dishes - nothing that matched in size, color or type - four bowls, eight large plates, one small plate - totally random and many that were chipped. And speaking of chipped, the fridge and freezer were constantly icing up to the point where I had to daily chip ice off the inside of the fridge. I tried turning the temperature down but then nothing stayed cold. The biggest problem - the television audio failed on numerous channels (but not all channels) including the main broadcast networks. It took three days to have the problem fixed. While the bed was comfortable no sleep ensued because the hotel is across the street from the train tracks and you could hear trains running all night long. Lastly, what hotel doesn't supply a blanket? This place only supplied a polyester bed spread that you definitely didn't want touching your skin. The nicest thing to say about this place - the staff is very nice.

The room was very large, with a kitchen, but it as not comfortable. The bed sucked and was covered with dust. There were some nails coming out of the hardwood floor. The bathroom was tiny and very hard to use. The shower was hard to use and it was almost impossible to get the water to the temperature you want. For a cheap hotel, it's a fine stay with reasonable service, but since the room wasn't that cheap, it underwhelmed us.

The hotel is in a good location, convenient to Stanford and the Medical Center. The rooms are spacious, but I was not happy with the bed linens (very old, and worn), or the condition of the room. Although the owners have tried to update where possible, the bathroom window was covered with a dirty and ancient screen of sorts that looked almost like a bandage, and the proximity of the busy road out front made it very loud. As a woman traveling alone I did not feel especially safe on the first floor.

Older but large room. I did like the full kitchen. Very convenient. But the best part was the extreme helpfulness of the staff. They were very accomodating. A pleasure to deal with.
