Première Classe Bayeux - באייה

I'm backpacking through Europe and used bayeux as a home base for the d-day beaches, bayeux tapestry, and mont. st Michel. The hotel isn't directly in the center of town but that walk wasn't bad, about 10-15 minutes to the city and same amount to the train station. I thought it was just right for needing a place to rest my head.

I had to check in in the parking lot at a kiosk which was bizarre. Also there were cigarette burns in my comforter and stains all over it. You get what you pay for I guess.

This hotel provided one of the most comfortable period of my trip in Europe, having stayed in 6 hotels. Room condition was excellent. My biggest problem was when I tried to check in and the reception was off duty, and the self-check-in machine did not register my booking. Failed to check in despite trying with both booking number and credit card. I had to stand in the cold wondering how to solve the problem. Luckily there was a restaurant next door and I could seek help there. My Normandy tour guide came and I deposited all my luggage in the van. But after check-in, everything was nice. The restaurant next door was very useful, prioviding a place I could go for a great dinner - both food quality and pricing (the discount for Premier Classe guests helped!). Staff there were also great. But being the small town Bayeux is, there is nothing else in the neighbourhood to go to, not even a convenience store. But I was happy to rest in the room. The hotel breakfast was too expensive for the food and service on offer. Maybe eating at the neighbouring restaurant could have been better.

Good for the price, was a bit awkward to find walking from the station.

The hotel was really nice and was close to the train station, which was exactly what I was looking for. The only problem was that the rooms did not have mini refrigerates. I had to keep my food in a big refrigerator down stairs behind the front desk. The only problem with this was that I did not have constant access to my food, but other than that, I am just thankful that there was even a refrigerator for me to use. The reception was real nice too! The hotel rooms were very clean as well. If I go back to Normandy, I will probably stay in this hotel again.

Great value for money, friendly staff, easy walk into town, and plenty of parking if you have a car. Rooms are simple but have everything you need. Free wifi that works, and discount on meals at the hotel restaurant next door.

Well I usually stay in hostels around Europe, so I'm used to sharing a room with other people. You can believe that was so excited to have my own place this time!!!! Everything is very compact, and the people where very nice. This was a great place to stay if your not expecting a lot... safe travels!

Out of town, no walking paths. Inexpensive.

Budget hotel. Very small rooms with comfortable beds with interesting deco (you get the feeling you are in a boat). I was going to recommend this hotel if the cleanliness of the room was satisfied but unfortunately it was very dirty, dusty with smelly sheets and hairs in the shower!

We stayed the night previous to going on Normandy tour. For that it is fine. About a 10-15 min walk from train station. Also about a 15 min walk to tour meeting point. Room was small, bathroom was tiny. There is a restaurant next to hotel with good food. Breakfast at hotel was good. Standard cereal, rolls, juice, coffee. good hotel for what it was for.

We booked four nights and added three more. This is a clean and well maintained property and is near the train station, must-see sights, and city center. A good value.

Front desk staff was typically French - not readily helpful or friendly, but not too mean. The hotel was very basic and functional. Tiny, cruise-ship-like bathroom. The room was small and furnishings were somewhat dated, but free wifi and free parking. It's a short 10min walk from downtown Bayeux (tapestry, cathedral, bakery, cafes, etc.) and 5min from the D-Day museum, so relatively convenient. Terrible continental breakfast - walk into town to find much better. Our GPS kept reading the street at the Ke-min de lah Gam-bat, so that was probably the best part of my stay. A decent jumping off point for 2 days in Normandy.

Wouldn't stay there again. The bathroom was like a submarine. Very expensive compared to what else there was on offer. Could have paid only €8 more and received a much better quality hotel or B&B and breakfast.

My family of 4 stayed here while visiting Bayeux and the normany beaches. We were looking for a crash pad with 4 beds and it was just what the doctor ordered. The only complaint was that we needed to turn off the heat (the thermostat didn't work) but otherwise it was a great, simple, clean place to spend the night for a very reasonable price.

An excellent choice of stay in Bayeux: Do remember to watch out for the reception opening and closing times though. The room as very clean and extremely comfortable. Only a few minutes walk to the centre of town too so very handy for exploring the beautiful town of Bayeux.

Tiny, tiny rooms, horrible bathroom and the most disappointing breakfast I have ever had. Save your money and sleep on the street!

The rooms were clean and comfortable. Breakfast was less expensive than most hotels. Three of us were comfortably fit into one room and were happy with our overall experience for the cost. However, the running of this hotel leaves much to be desired. While everything is very clean throughout the hotels and the rooms, the cleaning staff is very disorganized. We got to our room at 5 in the afternoon and were given the key to find that we physically could not get into our room because housekeeping was still in the process of cleaning it. The next morning, we woke up at 9 am to the housecleaning crew demanding to get into our room to clean, even though checkout was at 10:30 and we had paid for another night. When we left for the say we put a do not disturb sign on our door because we didn't want room service in the room while we were out, but when we came back, the sign was gone and the room had been cleaned. While the intentions may have been good, the entire situation was rather frustrating.

Exactly what was needed. Cheap and basic but very clean and friendly staff. I think you would be hard pushed to find anything better for the price.

Great deal, inexpensive but you get what you pay for. Room is small but sufficient if you don't have too much luggage. The "capsule" bathroom is larger than other retro-fits we have experienced in other places. Service is limited and if you are willing to work around their schedule then you will have no problems. Breakfast was OK and affordable. Just minutes walk from downtown Bayeux, with all of its attractions, including the cathedral. Hotel has parking and there is no need to drive into town and have to experience the trouble of looking for parking.

We went to Bayeux to take the DDay tour and just wanted a clean room and a nice shower. I would recommend this to the traveler that wants to lounge around in a hotel but for us it was perfect for two nights and it's only a 10 minute walk from the train station and a 10 minute walk to the city center where the tours start. Great deal.

The location was great! Only a ten minute walk from the train station, lots of restaurants and the beautiful cathedral. It was new and clean which was nice The bad thing was that it smelled faintly like cigarettes but it is France. And of course it was small but that's to be expected in Europe so it didn't really bother me. The breakfast was average and overpriced for what you got but kind of worth it because we didn't know what was nearby.

Loved the location, walking distance to Bayeux, but quiet and very affordable. The bed was the most comfortable we slept on in 4 different hotels. The room is a tight fit, but everything you need is there on a small scale (think of cruise ship) Plus- free wi-fi and parking. Neg-bring your own blow dryer and washcloths. I would stay there again. Before booking I read that you can only check in at certain time, front desk is un manned, But I saw a self serve kiosk in parking lot so check with the hotel if you need to check in, in the middle of the day. Loved Bayeux!!!!

The door next to Room 9 is extremely loud when closing. One night a large group was going up and down the stairs for about 30 minutes, with the door slamming every 10 seconds. The same thing happened early the next morning and it was really hard to sleep.

it's a Tiny room & cheap. You are about 2km away from the restaurants & centre of Town-

Hotel Premiere Class Bayeux provided us with a satisfactory place to stay for two nights while we explored the sites in Bayeux and the Normandy Beaches. The hotel is a 15 minute walk from the city center and has its own free parking. The rooms are small, clean, well-lighted and with a large window and designed to use every available inch of space for comfort Just like a ship's cabin -- everything is in its place and there is room Wi FI. Along these lines the bath is like walking into a capsule -- small but carefully planned to be fully adequate. Every room has a double bed with a third 'bunk' bed neatly placed above the double. For a bit more money per person you can have a full continental breakfast. Be warned, however, that there is only coverage at the front desk from 7:00 to 11:00 A.M and 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. so you need to arrive between those hours when you first check-in. We knew this from previous Hotels.com reviews and timed our arrival to those hours. Once you have your room key, you use it to open the front door in the off hours. The property seems pretty new and is well kept up. I would definitely recommend this hotel. It's a good value. If you're on a budget or don't plan to spend much time in the hotel, this is a good bet. The room rate makes this hotel a good value. We saw another Hotel Premiere Classe in Honfleur --again located just outside the town center but with free parking on site.

Perfect Hotel to use as a base for visiting the D Day Beaches and Museums. Clean,comfortable and the staff were helpful, don't let the low cost put you off. Will be back again next year for another tour.

Clean and comfortable. Free in room Wi-Fi. Breakfast was pricey for the offerings (light continental fare) but was OK if you seek convenience. No phones in rooms. No toiletries except for shower gel from a dispenser. Avoid the room over the front entrance if you like fresh air. You will get smoke and noise from the smokers.

Very basic, clean, small but the rate is very attractive. No hairdryer or any other conveniences.

It was very nice the staff speaks ok english and the hotel room was very clean breakfast is not the best but its french so...... all they served was fruit and what not you can check in 24hrs it is a mile walk from the train station and you can take a taxi for 5 euro if i was to go back i would definatly stay there again very cheap and is very close to the Normandy beaches Book ahead of time for the summer

You get what you pay for - this hotel is very basic, cheap and cheerless and the staff were, at best, surly though they were available. Having been curtly informed that the air conditioning was switched off despite 20C+ early October days and hot rooms "because it was autumn" and that there were no hair dryers available we didn't even bother to report that the bedspread had sticky spots on it (hate to think what they were!). The efficiently small boxes the hotel comprises are within comfortable walking distance of the tapestry, the military cemetery, the Normandy D-Day Musee, restaurants and other major attractions in Bayeux. It will be an option for us but not a preferred option when we return to Bayeux. However, as an inexpensive base it probably cannot be bettered - as long as you have the right expectations!

This hotel is brand new. My tour guide said it has only been around maybe 2 years. The rooms are great. It you're comfortable in a Holiday Inn Express, you'll be comfortable here. The rooms don't have carpet (which I find to be a huge plus). The TV got ~40 channels and 4-5 were in English. The beds were firm but very comfortable. The bathroom was very small, but you don't go there to spend time in the bathroom. The term check-in (from 6-11am) is slightly misleading to what Americans probably view as check-in. You can go to the hotel and get your key between those times, but you aren't allowed to go into your room until after 12noon and they do not have a place to store luggage for the day. So if you come in on the early train from Paris, be prepared to hold your luggage for a couple hours until you can go into your room. The location is about a 13-15 minute walk to the city center. And it was probably a 20-25 minute walk from the train station. And it was about a 15 minute walk to the British cemetary. This isn't a top of the line hotel, but it is comparable to a nice hotel in the US. To me, I was very glad I saved $50-100 night by staying here, and just walking to the city center. Be sure to have an umbrella and be prepared for cold weather.

The check in staff needs a little more guest accommodating expierience. I asked that my room NOT be cleaned during my stay. Front desk looked up my request and answered it obligatory to clean each occupied room daily. I was disappointed as I don't want the towels changed daily. A US enviomentalist who lives where we don't have sufficient water for everyone.

Not happy with this experience at all! Check in hours VERY limited: between 9-11 am and 5-9pm. There was nowhere to store our stuff until 5pm so we had to carry our stuff into town with us all day. Receptionist was very unfriendly and unaccommodating. There was a cold front that came through so the room was freezing at night and even though we and other guests asked for heat they wouldn´t (or couldn´t) turn it on because it was the end of May and they "don´t do that". As a travel agent I have stayed at many hotels, but this ranks among the worst hotel experiences I´ve ever had. If the staff at the hotel had a better attitude it would help greatly, since the room I had was pretty nice.

Problème de serrure, impossible de rentrer dans la chambre en l'absence du personnel. De plus, le N° tel d'urgence était sur répondeur !!!
