Very pleasant place to stay, friendly, accommodating staff. Good breakfast. Clean and quiet. Be prepared for lots of stairs... no lift.

We were very happy with our stay, the breakfast was good and staff friendly. It was a bit far from the city (some serious hills) but it was good value for money. Our room was a bit cold, we were grateful the hotel provided a heater, and we were on the top floor which meant walking up A LOT of steps!! Overall though it was a nice place and reasonably priced.

Hotel was in a great location for my stay 2 mins from Playhouse Theatre and shopping centre. Staff were very nice and the hotel was very clean . Have recommended to lots of friends ideal for theatre trips. Will definitely use this hotel again .

Hotel was good value and good location - it's about a 10 min walk to the centre, with a couple of good restaurants and bars on the way (I'd recommend the restaurant Phuket Pavilion - Thai). We booked this as a cheap but nice hotel and were happy. We were given a large room on the tom floor which was a lot of stairs but fine by us. It was a little chilly but there were two electric heaters which were great. The shower lacked power at peak time and the hairdryer kept overheating. Breakfast portions were a little small. The staff were really friendly. Overall good value.

The hotel provides excellent service. A nice breakfast to-order is served, which is commendable for a fairly small hotel with a small staff. The rooms are older & in need of updating, but the garden is beautiful & the common areas are attractive & well-maintained. The bathroom for my room was fully updated & very nice. Two rooms in the hotel have private bathrooms which are NOT ATTACHED (not en suite) with the room. If that is a problem for you, check to be sure that the room you are reserving is not one of those two.

Close to the centre; only a short walk from the Playhouse Theatre. Although my room was at the top of the stairs, it was very comfortable, and quiet. The hotel staff were very helpful.

The Ailsa Craig is a lovely small hotel and I enjoyed my recent stay very much. My room (a double ensuite, downstairs) had a recently renovated bathroom with shower that was very nice. The linens/bedspread are worn and older. I was traveling alone and found the room very cozy for one...if two are sharing you should be very close friends. The double bed nearly fills the room on one side, there is a small desk that has a flat screen tv and a hot pot for coffee and a hair dryer. The hotel does not have a lift/elevator. There are a few stairs as you enter the building and then fairly steep stairs either up or down to the rooms. Breakfast is served on the main floor and includes a made to order Scottish breakfast and cereal selections. The staff members were all very gracious. If you are arriving at Waverly station and have luggage, I would recommend a taxi up to the hotel. It is a hike and mostly up hill. I think the cab fare was about 6.50. The hotel is on a lovely street adjacent to several other smaller hotels and overlooking Regents Park. Around the corner are several embassy offices. Traveling alone, I found the area safe for walking. Most of the city sightseeing can be done within a 10-20 min walk and there are nearby cafes and restaurants within about a 5 min walk. I found the hotel well-situated for my visit and would stay again if my travels took me there.

Comfortable stay in a city centre location. Good views over woodland park towards the Forth. Small room clean with newly refurbished toilet shower. Good breakfast and prompt service. Quite a hike to the top floor with no lifts.

The staff was hard working and friendly. Too much noise came from the room door and the exterior window. Sound proofing needs to be added to make the room more comfortable.

Warm cosy hotel in a lovely Georgian terrace. Quiet street but conveniently close to city centre.All the members of staff we met were really friendly and helpful. They really went the extra mile. We are already looking forward to our next visit there.

Great location, very friendly desk staff, but the room was tiny (room for only one bedside table in order to wedge a small double bed in) and dark (lower ground floor, next to the hotel loos). Possibly the most uncomfortable mattress and pillows I've ever tried to sleep on. What seemed like a bargain when I booked it seemed way overpriced when faced with the reality of the accommodations. The family who own it apparently live in London, so the idea that this hotel is "family-owned" is kind of irrelevant since they're 400 miles away. The owners would do well to try and spend a night in a lower-ground-floor room before they set their prices. Coffee and tea in the room, which was nice. But I would never willingly stay in this hotel again.

Un très bon hôtel, le personnel est très sympathique, les chambre sont propre et spacieuse .A+++++.

一人旅行のために2泊しました。立地はカルトン・ヒルの真下で、ヒルから続く急勾配の坂とホテルの庭が一体化しています。市街地からは少しあるため買い物に出たりするには不便かもしれません。駅からもずっと坂道が続くので重い荷物を持っての移動もあまりおすすめしません。ホテルの内装は少しほこりっぽくかび臭い感じがしましたが、イギリスらしいといえばそうかもしれません。我慢できないほどではありませんでした。ただ、シャワーとトイレが別室で一度廊下に出なければいけなかったのが不便でした。シャワーのお湯も出が悪い悪い…ただ、これがイギリスの給湯事情なのでどうしようもないです。朝食のスコティッシュブレークファストは、メニューから選んで厨房でちゃんと作ってくれるタイプだったので美味しかったです。朝など、すぐ裏手のカルトン・ヒルに散歩がてら登って朝日に包まれたエディンバラを眺めるのもいいかもしれません。ホテルから登頂まで、歩いて15分程度です。

Grossartiges hotel für wenig geld. Die zimmer sin sehr gross und hell, mit einem schönen anblick der gartenanlage
