This hotel is okay. I mean its in a good location, the service is good. The walls are super thin though, you can hear the business of the people next door. I mean all of it -____-

Staff unfriendly, room dirty and worn.

I've stayed here twice.. its nice for the price and its a $8 cab ride to Horton Plaza.. can't beat it.

I had a pleasant experience, the location of the hotel was easy to find with my gps. Bobby who checked me in was most helpful in getting me decaf coffee and directing me to the closest grocery store.

Bobbie the front desk attendant was great. He did everything he could to make our stay as positive as possible.The hotel was apartments at one time so the units are smaller and the sink is in the kitchenette. The price was less than half the other hotels in the down town San Diego area.It has no on site parking or a pool but it was very clean and safe.Plus a free simple breakfast. Bring ear plugs as it is under the approach to SAN airport and you should have a very pleasant stay. The heating and cooling were both perfect. Book well in advance as it sells our quickly..

went for my boyfriends birthday weekend to hang out in the Gaslamp District. The bonuses are locations decent, customer service was good and there was a refrig and microwave and it was nice and clean but very very small rooms and the very small parking lot across the street was expensive and if you plan on leaving at all plan to get a cab.

parking sucks! $12 across the street at a small parking lot that fills up nightly, get in early. street parking is ok on grey curbs, but most curb side parking is metered. second thing that sucks is the hotel is in the line of the airport runway, so any planes taking off come straight over the hotel, noisey! other then that the place is decent and clean for the price, location is great too.

Room was clean, good location. Small room by final approach for San Diego airport. I would defiantly go back for right price.

The rooms need a good deep cleaning and maybe some paint and cocking. The bathroom was the smallest I've ever seen and it was complicated for 2 skinny people to move around in the room. One of the smallest if not the smallest room I've ever stayed in. Nice workers and looks clean from the outside.

When we first got to the hotel I wished we were staying somewhere else -- some of the people hanging around the hotel seemed to be a bit sketchy. But the room seemed pretty clean. We were right under the flight path, but surprisingly didn't wake up from any planes. I'm not sure I'd stay here again, but it is incredibly close to the airport (without being too close), if that's what you are looking for.

There was no parking. Only street parking or you had to pay $12 to park in a lot across the street. The front desk clerk was rude and acted like she didn't like her job. There was no sink in the bathroom, it was in the hallway by the door to get into the room. I felt like I was in a druggy neighborhood. Will never stay here again. It should have been a quarter of the price

You legitimately get what you pay for, however, it's a CHEAP cab to Gaslamp.. Pack your own blankets (ehhhwwww).

I posted a very long and detailed review on a popular review site but thought I'd write a short one here as well. This hotel is disgusting- from the musky smelling air to the stained and ripped bed linens. This was by far the worst experience I have ever had at a hotel. I tried speaking with the hotel manager, Neil, who was very uninterested in being of any help. When I asked for a contact at corporate or his supervisor I was told that "I am the manager and I am not giving you that information." For anybody who is considering a stay here I highly suggest reading reviews from sites that allow longer and more detailed reviews. Words can not begin to explain my disappointment and frustration.

For the price, I think it was worth it. Although, you get the bare essentials, the room and the grounds look well-maintained. The only major problem I had was the low pressure of the shower. There's paid parking across the street from the hotel...$12 for 24hrs parking, $6 for 6hours. The location of the hotel was ideal to major attractions in the downtown area.

We never spend much time in our hotel on any vacation, so I have a hard time spending a lot of money on a room. I usually have an expectation of being disappointed with something. Not the case here!! Room was spotless (but very small), bed and pillows were SO coomfortable and the price was perfect. The only improvements that could be made was PARKING, there is NONE. We had to pay to park and a friendlier front desk. I almost felt as if I were an annoyance to them. Not very friendly. Overall, very happy and will return!!

Have to pay to park. Other than that the stay was pleasant, clean and a great value. $14 cab fare to downtown.

This is a great little hotel... a very, very good value if you are looking for an inexpensive but clean and safe downtown hotel. I will certainly stay there again!

This is a great value for the price especially in the inflated San Diego near- downtown options for accommodations Airplane noise, but that's true of all of San Diego.

I picked the hotel based on the pictures. It look great in the website pics. But as soon as I arrived I had second and third thoughts. The surrounding area looked good. But as I approached the hotel. Pan handler asked for money. The lobby was small. I asked for an early check in. The clerk did do this. When I got to my room. I sat down on a very hard bed. The window was open to the street(which was very busy and noisy) I closed the window for some peace and quite. I soon found out why it was open. room had a very moldy smell. The carpet needed to be cleaned and the bathroom had been cleaned but really needed what my mom would have called a deep cleaning. The set up left a lot to be desired. One sink which served for both bathroom and mini kitchen. I could go on but lets just say won't be staying there again.

Yes, rooms are small, but super functional and have everything you need. Complimentary breakfast is quite impressive for this price. You can walk to a lot of cool places (Little Italy, Balboa Park, Dowtown, Hillcrest). Would definitely stay there again for that price.

Room is very petite with little walking space. Good points: very affordable, close to gas lamp and free breakfast (pastries and bagels)

I would stay here again. Breakfast was good. I didnt like how when people open their room, it sounds like they are opening my room. I dont mind the sound of occasional airplanes. Its weird that the kitchen sink adouble as a bathroom sink. good price for the stay. great view of the central garden. A bit far from public transportation is my only dilemma.

I did not like that you guys did not offer parking and if you did the guy in the front did not mention it to me. It was my first time in San Diego so I did not know many things and when I asked the guy in the front he gave me short annoyed answers.

This Budget Inn was perfect for my budget standards. The whole inn was spotless. Although not near convention center, it is close to Balboa Park attractions, and to 5th Ave trolley station. Drawback is noise from landing jets from 6 AM to 10:30 PM. But most guests are gone during those hours. No free parking from 8 to 8. Good wifi service.

Very pleasant and enjoyable stay... By far one of the best hotel at the right price I had in a while. Super clean and beautiful decor... Highly recommend this hotel to anyone. Expecially if you are looking for a quick stay at a budget price and yet with all the amenities. Hands down no one will beat the complete package they offer and I mean no one... And I stayed in quite a few others.

My wife and I stayed for three nights while looking for a place to live in the area. It was perfect. It was clean (not pristine, but clean). The service was good. Everyone was kind, they allowed us to store our luggage there early in the morning before check-in time, so we could travel about the city and return later. They were repainting the front entrance and planting flowers in the front gardens when we arrived. The hotel has a beautiful inner-court yard with plants and benches. They have a good supply of vending machines that accept credit cards. The free breakfast was minimal (bagels, juice, muffins, coffee, etc.). I used their business center to print out some forms. It is along the airport flight path and you do hear the jets sometimes when they come to land, but for the price it was excellent for our needs.

Outstanding location; parking OK on weekends, but might be iffy during the week.

Is a nice place for those on a budget.

my only big complaints are that there was a flood light outside of our hotel window with blinds and no curtains. It kept the room glowing all night I was very distracting and made it hard to sleep. Also the bed was very tiny and my husband and I kept thinking into the middle. It also is very squeaky an uncomfortable. the coffee was good though.

I don't know if there's anywhere in San Diego where the homeless don't go, so it's probably unavoidable. The ABVInn San Diego Downtown is in a great location, convenient to Gas Lamp District, Little Italy, and Balboa Park. The building architecture wreaks minor havoc with the free WiFi.

Was exactly what I expected. Spartin accommodations which was just enough to sleep, shower, only a few mins from gas lamp. It is directly under the landing pattern for the airport so don't expect to sleep in as at traffic usually starts around 730am and goes intermitantly till midnight.

The hotel was located near my client's place of business. Rooms were small, but clean. I stayed during the week and the hotel was quiet. I would stay again. The front desk staff was helpful. The continental breakfast was adequate, but I would encourage more choice of items.

Room was small, but clean and comfortable. Some might not like being so close to the airport's flight path for incoming flights, but as a sound sleeper, it didn't bother me.

I am usually a hotel snob when it comes to staying at different places. I usually relate the price to the type of stay I can expect, but here I paid a little and got a lot. Clean rooms, nice and helpful staff and not too far from actual downtown ( about a mile ). The only thing that sucks is having to park on the street, but that's one less cost you have to incur. Great place. Thanks.

So we were in town for the San Diego half-marathon and we really just needed a place to stay. So I saw this place on Hotels.com for $60 a night, what a steal! Plus it was supposed to be close to the Gaslamp District... it wasn't. The bed was a piece of plywood on top of springs..... It looked freshly painted inside and out but it was an 8x8 cell for space. The "breakfast" was juice boxes, bagels in plastic and danishes bought from the grocery store. Ugh, stayed the night when we got to town and then the next morning I showered and booked a room at the Hilton down the road which was basically at the start line for our race. Plus it was a King suite delux or something, $150 a night but location was 100x better and oh just so much better.

It was fine except for the parking. It's non-exestant

This hotel had everything we needed: about a mile from the Amtrak station (we could walk there to catch our early morning train), close to the Gaslamp Quarter (about 20 minutes by foot), and basic/well-maintained facilities. In the middle of all the rooms is a pretty open-air courtyard, which feels quaint and fun. The rooms were small but well-designed - there was even a kitchen sink, refrigerator, and microwave. We didn't get to try the breakfast due to the early train, but our check-in and check-out people were both very nice. We would absolutely stay here again!

It was perfect for what I needed. I was by myself for a convention straight down the street with a gym located in between.
