Very good service and looked after very well.

The service in the hotel and restaurant seemed a bit slow; there didn't seem to be many staff at all and the same girl checked me in, served me dinner and breakfast and checked me out! My room was reasonable - comfy double bed and a good amenities tray which included fresh coffee, a hot chocolate, bottle of water and good quality biscuits.

Always enjoy my stays here, will definitely return.

Clean comfortable rooms, excellent food, and very friendly helpful staff, all for a very reasonable price. Breakfast in the "dining car" was a novelty. Only word of warning, avoid Tuesdays, the quiz night is VERY noisy, even in the bedrooms, unless, of course, quizzes are your thing.

The room was really clean and plenty of tea and coffee. good selection of breakfast choice, surrounding area is lovely, nice place to stay for a short break.

This is a great place to stay for a day or so. Its an old railway station now conveerted ro pub with rooms. Its good fun booking in at the ticket office. Breakfast is served in an Orient Express type railway carriage - lovely atmosphere. Really good value for money

3rd stay here, great personal service - quiet clean rooms not top end but very comfy. Great food both at dinner and breakfast. Only issue is their intermittent wifi.

Hotel had been decorated since our last stay. Clean and functional room with decent hospitality tray options. Breakfast freshly cooked to order. What more do you want for an overnight stay.

The hotel was comfortable and pleasant overall, with good evening meal and breakfast (which was on an old Orient Express style train carriage - nice touch). Décor was a little shabby (peeling wallpaper in room). It was further from civilisation than I expected (15 min drive to Christchurch) and pillows were big foam things that gave me a stiff neck after. So overall, pretty average, but then the price was pretty good, so can't grumble.

Nice place, but well out of the way. A car is a must, if you need to get in and out of Bournmouth. Well presented rooms all the trimmings and a coffee maker to boot. Priced fairly for a high standard inn.

This is a great value hotel. Room was lovely, staff were all very friendly and helpful, and the food was good too. Breakfast on a train is a novelty and it was excellent.I'd definitley stay again and would definitely recommend this hotel.

Amazing stay - comfortable, quiet, homely pub/hotel with great home cooked food and caring staff. Bizarre breakfast restaurant in a train too. Even without the discounted night rate this was superb value and will likely stay again.

very conveniently located for airport. Very pleasant staff . Food very nice and good value . Should signpost reception. No amenities to speak of. Rooms basic but all you need. Unfortunately could have been a bit cleaner . If you're not a good sleeper beds and pillows not very comfy.

This was a bit off the beaten track but otherwise we cannot fault it. Brilliant Breakfast in a warm well furnished railway carriage just outside - nothing too much trouble. Food in the pub really good & well presented. Room good size, ground coffee and lovely biscuits supplied. Very clean, good shower. Would recommend.

Very welcoming people, hotel in a pleasant rural location, and was actually a converted railway station! Very quirky in a good way, i.e. breakfast was served to us in an old railway restaurant carriage. The room was nice, overlooking the rear garden, with comfortable beds and the shower was adequate. Food at night was ok pub grub but not outstanding. The quality of the full English breakfast was much better, in fact, very good indeed. Would recommend and make a point of staying here again if in the area.

Once checked in, the staff and service was as good as a 5* Only one minor glitch was a slightly blocked en suite sink which the manager said he would look at on Monday. The railway carriage was brilliant, a real 'Poirot' momement, just needs a coat of paint during the off season., what a hidden gem

It does what says on the tin. It's a hotel, its convenient for Christchurch and the airport. Was obviously renovated a few years ago and carpets on stairs a bit tired but room big and well decorated. Breakfast good. Beers in bar very excellent and well kept. Anyone wanting to walk there is Sopley common and some bridleways into the forest. It's a bit close to dual carriageway so noisy if you sleep with windows open.

Welcoming staff, clean comfortable room, good food and excellent condition ale. Breakfast in the railway car was an experience not to be missed.

we were in a family room (14) with no signs or directions to it and with two young children and cases to match, frustratingly hard to find. Fans outside windows very noisy so had to keep windows closed. Breakfast carraige fab but in desperate need of decorating inside and out, brighter colours inside would make it less dingy, cereal bowls could have been cleaner. helpful and friendly staff, Menu a bit limited but lovely food and a good pint

The breakfast was delicious! Freshly cooked and served in a train carriage. The only problem I had was missing the turning for the hotel because it looks like a slip road rather than a junction. But the room was comfortable and very clean.

Really enjoyed the stay. Would recommend it and will book again when we come back to Bournemouth. Hotel was clean, Breakfast on the train was quite a nice touch.

The pub was busy when I arrived but the manager couldn't have been more helpful. I was too late for dinner but had a couple of drinks in the bar. Breakfast (served in an old railway carriage - the pub used to be a station a long time ago) was good. the pub is very close to Bournemouth airport and they will do you a deal on parking so well worth considering. Only downside is that the hallways and fittings could do with some investment.

Accomodation wa ok apart from the worlds smallest shower.welcome was wam and friendly.food was fine, but food service was so exceptionally slow (despite not being busy) that eating out was a better option

2nd stay here but change of managers since last time. TV in room could only receive BBC channels (1,2,3,4). Reported this to foreign receptionist on first night, suggested we re-tune TV. We advised that we needed a PIN no for this. He asked if we were staying a 2nd night-yes, then said someone would have to come from Bristol to rectify. Nothing was done, no engineer called and no apology. Ate in restaurant on 2nd night-food fine and good portions but lacked atmosphere as barely 1/4 full. Drink in bar on 1st night/restaurant 2nd night spoiled by very loud farmer-type man who spoke extremely loudly and used the 'F' word at every opportunity. He appeared to be a 'regular' and was well known to the staff but not pleasant. Still loved breakfast in the railway carriage but won't be staying there again

Stayed here for 2 nights on my own. Nice room, but basic, small TV and only open hanging space. Bathroom small but OK, nice toiletries though. Dinner in the pub was good and the service was too. Breakfast was served in the original train carriage, very 1920s. Getting a bit tatty with peeling plaster and broken light fittings but very quaint all the same. Fresh juice, fruit and cereal was available followed by a full English breakfast, very good! Good access to A31, Bournemouth at one end and Ringwood and the New Forest at the other.

Choice of hotel was based on location and the fact that this hotel had won awards for their breakfasts. Hotel and room was adequate but the experience of breakfast was disappointing. Only one member of staff serving breakfast and apparently the hotel was full.Service was therefore appalling. None of the tables were cleared after people had finished their breakfasts. When we arrived for breakfast there were no glasses for juice, we had to hunt for a spoon to eat our yoghurt with and we had to wait ages before the waiter came to serve us. The only positive was that when the cooked breakfast arrived it was hot.

This was a last minute decision for us and we couldn't have been more happy with the choice of this hotel. All the staff were friendly and helpful and the general manager was rightfully proud of what they all had achieved. The room was comfortable and clean and tea-making facilities even included real coffee in the room. The only minor issues was that we couldn't find the reception when we first arrived but were soon directed to it and that (as normal in most hotels) the plumbing clunked a bit when other rooms started using their showers. HOWEVER breakfast was wonderful. It was a complete surprise to us to find that the breakfast area is a railway carriage used on the Orient Express. It was beautifully and tastefully decorated and sat in its own station that even included an old fashioned cigarette machine. I imagine any train buff would love it! Overall reaction - we don't normally return to any hotel but this may be the exception.

this is the second time we have stayed. On both occasions on arrival we were left waiting in reception which was unmanned in the cold for some 15mins and despite ringing for service only got it when we went round into the bar. The room was nice enough, but the shower left alot to be desired with mould all around the bottom of the shower. The floor of the bathroom was also dirty. Fortunately l left the shower running before entering as it had been left on high heat and i would have been severely burnt had i just walked in. The heating in the room had been turned off and on the day of the snow was cold and unwelcoming. There were no teaspoons so stirred my drink with a pen. The manager on both occasions directly asked us what time we would be down for breakfast which we found a little unecessary and gave a suitably vague answer. The wifi does not work unless you are in the bar (not in room or at breakfast) so is a little pointless. the breakfast was on the stingy side and the mushrooms were cold and obviously boiled. as i raised this is the second occasion we have stayed here and the other room suffered from mould around the windows. This could be a smashing hotel and one issue would not have been an issue but in view that we could have stayed somewhere else for less and there were several issues we wont stay here again. the mould could be cleaned and the sealant changed but it hasnt.

Nice quite contry pub/hotel. room was clean and average size in good condition. Amazed to see they had real coffee on tea tray, very nice!. Bar food quite good and breakfast is in the old railway car, very nice indeed.

We were very pleased with the location with its proximity to Bournemouth Airport. It was great to be able to stay one night then leave our car at the Avon Causeway for the fortnight duration of our holiday. Staff were friendly and went out of their way to be helpful, including ordering our taxi for the airport. The history of the Hotel was interesting, with the Old Train Engine and Carriage standing on the disused railway line next to the Hotel. Breakfast in the railway carriage dining room was novel and and the food both for breakfast and pub dining was good with a varied menu.

A fine hotel in a quiet location. Rooms can be a little small, but they are clean and have all of the essentials. Food is good, but the kitchen may close early on a Sunday evening. The staff are very willing and friendly.

We were in the New Forest for family birthday celebrations This Inn justifiably has an award for their breakfasts, which is well deserved, though served in a somewhat bizarre setting. The room we had was quite small, barely enough room for the double bed, so I have marked down accordingly.

LOVELY CLEAN HOTEL GOOD VALUE FOR MONEY AND LOVELY BREAKFAST

We stayed here for a night while visiting Christchurch. We didn't have our own transport so needed a long taxi ride to get out to the property. However we were warmly welcomed and the setting of the hotel amongst the trees was lovely. Room was comfortable, we enjoyed our evening meal outside on a warm evening and also enjoyed the novelty of eating breakfast in a railway carriage.

Stayed at the hotel at the end of July. Nice easy location that was quite scenic. Overall the food was great, especially the breakfast and all of the staff were helpful and polite My only gripe was the hotel had some very strange plumbing! Pipes made loud noises at strange times of the day and night for about 20 seconds when anyone in near-by room went to the toilet or turned the tap on and this was a bit annoying when it went off at 3 am. It was very comfortable apart from this though.

We had a great night at the Causeway and a great nights sleep. Very clean and tidy and the room was great, the breakfast was different as it was in the railway carriage next to the Hotel. I would definately stay there again and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anyone looking for either a one night stop over or a few days holiday stay. Dean.

We stayed here when working on business, doing a couple of overnighters, not the easiest to accommodate. Ibo (the Manager) went the extra mile at every turn to ensure that we had a perfect stay, nothing was too much trouble. This can be said for all of the staff there as well, each one making the customer really welcome and looked after. As it happens (the last Wednesday of the month) there was a well attended Blues Jamming session, which was great, an amazing atmosphere in the bar with great food and even better real ales and traditional ciders. Breakfast was as good as you can get anywhere, quality food, well served in a very nice (novel) railway car. Highly recommended. Been there twice on business now, and wouldn't hesitate to go there for a family break, or just a nice weekend in the country.

Small hotel in very nice surroundings. The Staff were exemplary in all ways, really went the extra mile to make sure that your stay was perfect. Great selection of real ales and ciders (Scrumpy). The bar is about as good an example of a 'Traditional English Pub', well patronised (Tuesday night) by both guests and locals. Rooms a little on the small side, but very comfortable and clean and very good value. Food is very good, traditional pub food in the bar, and breakfast was very good served in the orginal Orient Express dining car, a nice touch. Plenty of car parking etc. Would reccomend as a nice stop over.

Very nice place-clean and comfy rooms, nice location (rural), great pub down stairs where we had a lovely diner and breakfast is served in an old steam train outside where they also had railway memrobelia, a nice little twist. If I was looking for a con it would be that our room didn't have a bath, only shower, but a very nice one!

Wonderful spot to stay. Hotel staff were like family. Wonderful train dining car where you have breakfast. Everyone wants you to enjoy yourself and make sure you are comfortable. Room rates are reasonable, food was quite good (had dinner there two nights), particularly liked the game dishes. Rooms on the tight side but that is to be expected.
