Bed and Breakfast Chiaia 32 - נאפלס

After reading up on Naples I was somewhat concerned about booking a hotel in a bad location given Naples somewhat dodgy reputation, and knowing that I on this trip would be going alone and come back late in the evenings. This B&B turned out to be brilliant. Not only did the B&B (and room) look brand new, very clean, the Wi-Fi was fast, it was free coffee and water, but very importantly, the neighborhood felt safe. The entrance to the B&B is right on a pedestrian street with lots of people also late in the evenings and it was easy walking distance down to the promenade along the water. I was never concerned about going out and about alone. The location is also brilliant when it comes to proximity to shopping and several of the main sights are within walking distance. The staff was very friendly, and what they lacked in English skills, good use (by the staff) of ‘Google translate’ on the pc in the lobby made it easy to communicate. Be aware that there is an error in Google maps if you try to search for it using the address and postcode as given on the B&B’s homepage. It shows you the wrong location on the map. If you only search with the street name (Via Chiaia 32, Naples) it shows you the right location. Highly recommended.

On the downside the room is very noisy, there is no mobile phone connection and the breakfast is a coffee and a croissant on a cafe nearby. The toilet flushing is electrical and sounds like a jet taking off. Neighbors are sure to wake you up at night. Also, the staircase is really noisy, and when people enter/exit the B&B it makes a lot of noise with doors slamming etc. Bring earplugs and hope not too many guests will wake you up.
