Boulan South Beach - מיאמי ביץ'

While the hotel was in a great location and the rooms/suites were well maintained and comfortable, the service was mostly disappointing and unyielding. They nickle and dimed everything. Our check it was scheduled for 3:00 pm. We arrived early (at 1) and was told our room was almost ready. It was not ready until 5:30 pm. nothing more than an apology ensued. We booked 2 suites for 3 nights for 8 people yet they could only give us a pass for 2 beach chairs and 2 umbrellas ($10 cost). We find at the beach that these passes were improper and the umbrella is not included. We were told the rollaway bed was $50 for our stay but I get home to find $150 charged. The hotel told us after the fact that is is $50 per night. NOT TRUE. The managers are unyielding in their service and while Jessica at the front desk was very nice, she was powerless to help. If you stay here, make sure you bring your wallet, don't eat anything from the mini bar, and check your charges before checking out.

I stayed at this hotel for a birthday weekend. We got a larger room to be able to have more space than your average hotel. The room was beautiful and the location was great! It was very clean and spacious. However, I ended up sleeping on the pull out bed and it was not comfortable at all. We have stayed in large groups in other hotel rooms and used the pull out beds with no problem (obviously not as comfortable as a bed, but not terrible) This bed was not comfortable at all. The hotel is about 10 minute walk to the beach and they provide you with cards to get free chairs and umbrellas.

overall it was an ok stay. we liked the look of this boutique hotel - very charming. the staff was very nice; however, it took a while to receive wash towels upon request and they weren't what we expected as compared to most hotels. the valet service should be quicker - the average time to receive our vehicle each time was about 25 minutes (this was with us being the only valet requests at the time). the shower was clogged and backed up during our first shower. we had to have them unclog it (pretty 'icky'). the restaurant we received free continental breakfast at based on our stay was quaint and the food was great. the continental breakfast was only a selection of 3 or 4 pastries with nothing else to accompany it (no juice, coffee, tea, or fruit).

The decor at the Boulan is truly ridiculous. I have no idea to whom they are trying to cater with tasteless silver sofas, gaudy mirrors, and silly accoutrements. On the coffee table there were silver chess set pieces standing about 2 feet tall. It was a suite of rooms full of visual pollution.

staff was great, rooms are awsome! A must go to!

The regular room in the hotel is good- king bed, furnished terrace, sofa bed, spacious. We got 4 rooms in this vacation. One of the room was, however, not only much smaller with dirty balcony, but also only with one queen/twin bed and sofa bed. The staff was not able to switch us to a regular room. So be careful, you may pay for a worse room with the same rate.

Arriving at Boulan we were expecting the rather impersonal feel of previous condo/hotels we've stayed at. Instead, we were net by the friendliest, most helpful staff we've ever met. The bakery breakfast was perfect and the coffee great too (which is good because the rooms lack coffee makers). Walking into our room was an experience. It went on forever! The best suite we've ever had, hands-down. Modern with an Art Deco feel. The room was unbelievably sound-proof - a very important feature for us traveling with a toddler. The rooftop pool area was heaven on Earth. Wish I could be there now. Perfect for suntanning with a book, or playing with our son in the shallow end. We will book next year for sure. *if you are looking for a place to party and meet people, this is not for you. It's very quiet (but only a stone's throw from ALL South Beach attractions). If you want to feel like one of the privileged few who LIVE in South Beach, give it a try.

Extremely friendly staff....valet parking expensive

Conceptually the hotel/condo can be wonderful when it is finished being built. There isn't a restaurant or bar in the hotel. Restaurants and shops are not yet built. The street it's on is under construction. The parking lot doesn't belong to the hotel. Its advertised as a beach property but the beach is two blocks away. They do have loungers and umbrellas on the beach at Collins and 21St. You have to bring towel from your room to beach or rooftop pool. The towels are very small for beach towels. The rooms are small apartments with terraces or Patios. Loved the Patio and the extra half bath and washer/dryer.

Only downfall was the water wasn't hot enough

Overall, we loved our stay at this hotel - location was perfect: quick walk to beach, bars, and amazing restaurants. $5-10 cab ride to the hottest South Beach clubs. Stylish large rooms, amazing rooftop pool - warm and friendly staff. Felt like we were temporary residents of SOBE's coolest neighborhood as opposed to tourists. As such, this was the most enjoyable trip to Miami we've ever had. Our main complaint was that several things in the room didn't work. Never got the TV in the bedroom to turn on, the iPod docking station made a terrible screeching noise when we tried to use it, and the radio in the bedroom was also broken. Also we got there about 20 mins before checkin and our room wasn't ready. Not a huge deal but there really wasn't anywhere to sit and wait so we ended up walking to the beach. Expect near perfection given the rates that they charge.

Excellent location in what I think is the best part of south beach. Besides the hotel and the rooms are modern and beautifully designed. I will really considered with an average rate.

It was great, the only problem was that the phone system is completely not functional; if someone called the hotel to speak to my room, they could not transfer the call....and that's IF they actually answered the phone. Aside from that, beautiful Hotel, great location!

Check in 11/23 Check out 11/26 Number of people:4 - booked prepaid room with 4 people even though we were 3. - first room experience on 11/23 had sofa bed broken, no phone, no tv, no DVD player, no cushion on deck chairs - had to sleep on floor since management couldn't provide spare bed or alternate room for first night - Robert is an exceptionally rude and unprofessional manager, promised a change as we waited for 2 hours the next day for an alternate room. - Maintenance, house keeping and bell boy entered the room without permission when I was in the shower/changing. - Alternate room provided on 11/24 AGAIN had the same issue with the bed and was unusable. Had to wait another hour at 11:00pm so that we could get a room that had a working bed. Had to cancel plans for the night as we were waiting for a new room. When we pay a premium rate, we expect good service and a nice hotel experience.We travel very often and this is by far our worst experience in terms of management and service.However,Maria the manager there listened to us during check out and we were finally reimbursed half of the final amount.But overall,I am not sure if I will return to Boulan.

Needs a restaurant

I used to live in Miami and was not familiar with the hotel, but the location by the Setai and W hotel was great so I booked. At midnight 3 men were at the desk to check me in. It is condos with some rooms for the hotel. Men at the desk extremely nice and helpful. Internet is free, you get and actual door key (not card). I couldn't believe the room when I walked in. Not the average condo/hotel room. Amazing decor very similar to the W hotel. Half bath in entry &washer dryer! Long corridor to full modern kitchen with wine fridge &dining for 6! Living room:awesome silver tufted chairs &couch. Flat screen living room backs to flat screen bedroom. soft king bed with cool modern painting above. I wanted to steal all the furnishings to take home! Desk, huge walkin closets, huge bathroom w soaking tub &walking shower. Toilet in separate room. Layout a little odd in bathroom &some signs of disrepair but didnt bother me. terrace left something to be desired bc no view, side wall blocked out any view of busy Collins ave, but I wouldve liked to see. solo, I felt I couldn't use all the amenities offered, but for couple wanting to entertain &be near the hottest clubs, great! Its not on the beach but you can be there in 2 mins. More quiet ritzy area of Collins. More likely to see very wealthy locals &maybe celebs vs tourists &college kids further south (below 16th) on Collins. Def recommend

Overall the hotel was nice and convenient with excellent customer service, however 2 out of the 3 nights I stayed there was no AC and it was 86 degrees out which I didn't find to be acceptable after having paid what I did each night.

I booked this place out of desperation for a business trip when the entire island seemed to be booked - literally, I didn't even check out the Boulan website beforehand, because my only other options were of the 2 star variety. This ended up being an incredibly pleasant surprise, as my room was a full-on apartment-style suite, brand-new construction, with condo finishes and a wraparound balcony with a decent view of the ocean. I didn't have time to spend at the rooftop pool, but next time I'll build that into my plans. My main critique would be that this is still set up a bit more like a condo than a hotel - it would have been nice to have the complete appointments one has come to expect, for example a blow dryer or cotton swabs in the bathroom. And despite my room having its own individual wireless router, it didn't seem to get reception in all parts of the apartment. Also there was a hair on one of the pillows (thankfully there were five or six of them), which really grossed me out. In sum, this has the potential to be a five star place if they pick up the attention to detail.

I was woken up by Jack Hammers busting concrete at the lobby of the hotel, went to Manager and asked what's happening and said that they were remodeling the restaurant and that the noise will continue for at least 4 to 5 days. I had to check out and move accross the street with my 3 children and luggage.

Not a traditional hotel. It's more like a luxury apartment house. We had a very comfortable stay and will be sure to book there again.

Nice condo and great staff! Roof top pool off the hook sexy!

Boulan South Beach has beautiful and very very spacious rooms. The room decor was amazing and beyond words. Its about 10-15 mins walking from Lincoln Mall and Oceandrive which is not bad. The only negative was that when we got down for breakfast the breakfast was wiped out and they apologised for it and made some arrangments. You dont expect that from a 5 star but they were in their setting up stage and did apologise for it.

Despite a couple of initial hiccups on arrival which they were more than obliging to fix as these are very new apartments. Our experience overall was fabulous in every way. Fom the size, look and comfort of the apartment to the service and friendliness of all staff. This place is a winner and was by far the best accommodation we had in our 4 weeks of travel. I could quite happily settle there and make it home. Should I return to Miami it will be the place to return and have already recommended it to family at home. What a find!

We weren't originally going to stay at the Boulan. We only booked ourselves into this hotel after shifting from The Perry because of renovations. What a fantastic find it was aswell. When we checked in we were offered 3 different rooms and even giving a key to an apartment on the forth floor to see if we liked it. Sure enough it was great. The staff at the front desk were extremely efficient and superb. The rooftop pool and gym where great. As people have stated in other reviews this is more of an apartment building than a hotel. Or room didnt have a land line phone but in saying that we wernt holidaying in miami to call upon room service at all. The facilities in the room were good. Two 42" tvs, fully setup kitchen and big bathroom. We will be returning to the Boulan at the end of our trip in the USA because it was such a pleasant stay.

I absolutely love this hotel! I felt so at home there, and the staff couldn't be friendlier or more helpful. I had a couple very minor issues, not even worth mentioning, but the reason I do is because they handled it so beautifully and so quickly that my respect for them grew even more. The location was perfect for my needs and I will stay there again & again. The accommodations are beautiful and extremely roomy. Everything is brand new. Gorgeous patio area & beautiful pool on the roof. I highly recommend it!

Pros: The rooms were big and spacious. Cons: The room only had 1 key and allowed you to only go to that floor. We had problems going to another floor where our friends were on.

I enjoyed my stay. I loved my room!! I didn't get a chance to visit the pool area but I'm sure I'll be back again. The only thing I didnt like was the house keeping. They came to the room at 6:00 when we were showering and getting ready for dinner. They had an attitude and said "now or not al all". I thought that was rude. They could have at least given us clean towels, but they didn't. Other than that I enjoyed my stay!

Had the best time at this new and upcoming hotel, the staff was BEYOND accomodating, can't wait till my next stay! A must see if you plan on staying in Miami Beach!

The Boulan is a beautiful well thought out home from home for discerning travellers. Designer rooms, fully loaded kitchen, flat screen tvs, top end furniture. It comes though without the huge price tag! We stayed on the 3rd floor (rm 311). The rooms are immaculately clean and much larger than a normal hotel. The Boulan is really a set of condo's (high class) with an impressive and friendly staff at the front desk (Robert & Bruna) who answer all questions and seem to love what they do. The building has the most gorgeous rooftop pool with lounge chairs for sun worshippers to boot! You really have to see its design. Boulan is a 3 minute walk to South Beach and is located right next to Ocean Drive. We drove and valet parking is $32. Daily and you take your vehicle as many times as you like with no additional charges. My wife, six year old loved the place as did I. As Arnold Schwarzenegger may have said ' I will be back!'

The room/condo was large with a separate bedroom and livnig area (two TV's,). The staff was friendly and helpful. The beach is only a block away and made for a great sunset swim in the warm water. Superb dining is about 6 blocks away and it is safe to walk after dark if you stay on the main streets. There is a Walgreen's one block away. Cab ride from the airport is about $35-$40. My only complaint is the poor condition of the bed. The matress sagged so much we had to put a pillow in the center to fill the hole. There was a sliding door that separates the bedroom and bathroom that was off its track, but that didn't bother us. Overall, this is a great lower cost option if you want to be away from the craziness of SB but close enough to visit.

loveddd it !! :) we stayed in a beautiful room! the pool and hot tub is on the roof and at night it was very romantic :) The only problem was parking, everytime you valet your car and wanted to go back out you would have to pay 15$ everytime u wanted your car back and the guy behind the counter was not to pleasent at all! He was rude about the situation and when it came down to helping us understand how it works. We payed the valet guy also and he basically snatched the money out of my boyfriends hand as if we were going to take the car and not pay :S weird....

I loved everything about this place. Trust me, I am not an employee or know anyone who is an employee of this place, it really is great. I brought my wife and 2 small children for a long weekend of some work and play. The room we had didn't have a balcony, which is totally fine, but would have been the cherry on the top of a what was already a wonderful living space. The gorgeous modern space wasn't very child-proof, especially with the white leather seats and sofa, but wasn't a problem after all. Everything worked as listed in the description and I'd be dammed if we could even make a small issue out of anything here. The rooms were always air-conditioned adequately (you can adjust to your liking) and the kitchen, fridge, coffee maker, etc. all worked out swimmingly. The pool on the roof was outstanding, esp for the kids, as the pool had broad staggering steps that were not deep. What else? Walgreens is a couple of blocks up and had everything we needed as well as it's awesome proximity to restaurants and the beach. They had great folding chairs and umbrellas for guests of the Boulan, which worked out great for us, too. The internet and cable worked fine as well as the water. Gorgeous bath room and an overall awesome experience.

Enjoyed a lot and reconmrnd to all my friends

Excellent South Beach option for those who like 5-star surroundings (but not 5-star prices!) and do not need to be waited on 24/7 by hotel staff. The Boulan is a brand-new building that is not a full-scale hotel but more of a condo rental. Those who arrive expecting their every need to be catered to would be better off staying at the W or the Setai across the street. The Boulan offers daily housekeeping, a 24-hour front desk, basic continental breakfast, and beach chairs & umbrella, but no room service, bellhop, etc. The rooms are extremely spacious, clean, and are very nicely decorated with marble tile and modern furnishings. Our kitchen had a few plates, glasses, bowls, and silverware - perfect for heating up leftovers or having a bowl of cereal. There is a small market (Ocean Deli & Market) right around the corner, which sells basic food items and amazing sandwiches, which we took to the beach every day. The beach is a block away, and there are specially-marked Boulan umbrellas and chairs for guests. All you have to do is show the attendant your room key when they walk past. This "hotel" is also very conveniently located, as it is just a short walk (or bike ride on DecoBike!) to the main drag of South Beach. Overall we had an excellent time at the Boulan, and would definitely stay again next time we are in South Beach!

Listen, if you understand that it is a condo hotel and not full service you will not have a problem. I also noticed small complaints people had seem to have been fixed. You feel like you have a condo on the beach. It was awesome for inviting friends to spend some time with us. The only downside would be that it's not beachfront. Still a great stay. Will definetely be back!

It was exactly as I expected from a Condo-Hotel unit. The accommodations are not at Hotel level, for instance there is no pool attendant, no music at the pool and no drinks/food served at the pool. But the room is huge, has a full kitchen, separate living room and bedroom. Very comfortable for extended stays and very nicely decorated. Also since it's right across the street from the beach and close to Lincoln road, it really has a great location. I highly recommend this hotel:) The only reason I didn't give 5 stars all the way across was because the A/C was not working when I first checked in but they had that quickly repaired.

I booked 3 rooms at Boulan South Beach for a Bachelorette party/weekend, 1 Terrace Room and 2 Standard Rooms. The rooms were a great size for the 11 people total. The bachelorette stayed in the Terrace room, which had a full size bar and plenty of seating for the whole group to hang out in. In the other rooms we had 3 and 4 people and there was plenty of space for getting ready and sleeping. The rooms all included 1/2 baths in addition to the full baths, which was a nice bonus when you have more people involved. The rooftop pool was great, not very busy while we were there, so we had it to ourselves for the most part. The rooms only had one key and swipe card for elevator access per room, which was inconvenient with 3 to 4 people staying in each room. Also, the swipe card only allowed you access to the floor your room was on, which was frustrating since our 3 rooms were on 3 different floors based on people checking in at different times. They card was also supposed to allow you access to the top floor to get to the pool, and did not always work for that either. Luckily there were stairs. The only other complaint was that the A/C went out our second day there, and was still out that night. South Beach in June is very hot, so that was less than pleasant. However, the hotel was very apologetic and reimbursed us for that night. Overall, the hotel was great for the bachelorette party weekend.

Perfect standing and overall quality for Boulan Hotel. To be recommended
