6 Best Shopping Experiences in Buleleng (North Bali)

Where to Shop and What to Buy in North Bali

מתנצלים, עמוד זה לא תורגם לשפה שלכם עדיין...

Even if the North Bali shopping scene may not be as colourful as on the island’s more popular south, you can still find a few interesting shopping options around. After all, the Buleleng regency offers one of Bali’s remote getaways, meant mostly for rest or exploration.

The items sold at the beach shops in popular areas like Lovina Beach lean more towards handicrafts and local commodities. For a traditional market scene, there’s the Pasar Anyar in North Bali’s capital of Singaraja, with a fascinating farmer’s market nearby. For more modern shopping options, the capital also has a few department stores where you can find anything from baked goods and groceries to affordable fashion items.

    Candi Kuning Market

Candi Kuning Market is one of 2 main markets in the Bedugul highland area. That's why locals refer to it more simply as Pasar Bedugul. The farmers' market mostly boasts local produce, such as flowers and a wide range of tropical fruits, including mangosteen, bananas, tamarillos, tangerines and, most importantly, strawberries – the prize produce of Bedugul.

You can also find some souvenir shops selling kitsch arts and crafts – all sold at affordable prices. The market is a nice place to enjoy a local market scene and test your bargaining skills. There are a variety of small warungs (stalls) that sell a wide range of local food.

    Alcovina Wine & Spirits

Alcovina Wine & Spirits is a wine shop near Lovina where you can head to for international-quality wines and alcoholic beverages. The shop is very much a one-of-a-kind in Lovina, where you can browse through a collection of New World wines as well as Bali’s own local labels – Bali’s own Hatten Wines, produced from French Alphonse-Lavallée table grapes grown in North Bali, is also available here.

They’re also a source for restaurants and bars in the area, thanks to the excellent selection of liqueurs, cognacs and brandies, whiskeys, tequilas, gins, rums and vodkas. You can find the wine shop along the Lovina main road.

    Pancasari Market

The Pancasari Market is one of Bali’s most traditional farmer’s markets, where you can experience a truly local open marketplace scene. The items on sale here include various fresh vegetables and fruits harvested from the nearby farms and plantations of the highland Pancasari community. The market is a common stopover on tours to Bali’s north, via the Bedugul-Singaraja main route.

Note that it’s a non-touristy market and comprises different small and down-to-earth stalls that offer a great variety of daily local necessities. It is also a good place to witness a bit of Balinese culture through dedicated stalls selling ornate ritual items and flower offerings, some of which weave and arrange them fresh on the spot.
