The Strathallan Rochester Hotel & Spa- A DoubleTree by Hilton

The shower was never hot and the water was warm enough, the bedside dresser did not close, there was only 1 trash bin in the room and that was in the bathroom, the mini fridge does not have a freezer, the tv remote did not work, there was no phone or brochures for the hotel, so even if I wanted room service I'd have to go online and figure that out. The wifi was terribly spotty and required the Hilton Honors sign-up as some customer buy it to have access, that made me uncomfortable. Overall, this experience was a 2/5 and this place was a recommendation, one that ends with me, this was an over $200 experience.

Staff was friendly and room was clean. I was placed in a handicap accessible room and I did not require one. Room should have been left available for someone that needs it, also the handicap accommodations make the shower difficult to use and enjoy when you are standing. Heater unit made a very loud noise, tv programming did not work, and light in the bathroom made a high pitched buzz that was surprisingly irritating. Nothing catastrophic, but you expect a little better when paying $200 a night. I’ve stayed multiple times at the Strath and typically enjoy it. This time was not the best.

Great location. Very nice. Overall great stay. Pool closed early would have been nice to know upon check in. Check in very rushed.

The location is great with respect to getting around Rochester. Unfortunately, the windows are old and even on the 6th floor I could hear street traffic. The property at the time of booking said it was pet friendly, and that is no longer the case so watch out if you are traveling with a pet. The furniture is a touch worn, and there are only standup showers and no bath tubs, which is not desirable when traveling with a child. In the future I'd probably opt to stay at the Hyatt downtown.

First time staying here

First, all staff we interacted with were great. The amenities were above average, and the restaurant itself is worth a trip. The negative experience was due to hotel guests, and not the hotel, so I'm going to consider it a one-off and not include details

Very pleasant

A condo feel hotel in a nice, convenient neighborhood. The entire staff were very friendly and helpful. It was worth the high room rate and we will return in the future.
