HI San Francisco Downtown Hostel

I stayed at 4-bed female only dorm. Room is clean and nice. There is no bathroom inside the room so during rush hour the shared bathroom could get busy. Breakfast was better than the most of the hostels I've stayed at. Staff are friendly. Great location!

I enjoyed my stay at HI Downtown. HI has top notch amenities for a hostel. It's clean, beautifully decorated, features great events, and good breakfast in the morning. I would definitely stay again.

Great staff, comfortable rooms and a basic but very good breakfast! Ended up with a four bed dorm to myself which was a bonus!! Would definitely come back..

Free water and coffee/tea at the Lobby. Breakfast had also more then other Hostels I have been too.

The location is really good.

The front desk staff were amazing and so helpful, with lots of recommendations of things to do. The hostel was in nice condition, you can tell that it has been around for a while, but kept up nicely. The breakfast was good, but very busy! The beds were really comfy and I slept great! The only downside was that there were a lot of homeless people on the streets surrounding the hostel, which seemed to be an issue everywhere we went. Sometimes they were noisy at nighttime. We left the hostel around 8 PM one night to go to a restaurant which was 1/4 mile away, and I did feel unsafe on the walk.
