DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel San Diego - Mission Valley

We have stay at the Doubletree Hotel and few months ago due to the location. We enjoyed that stay and we were not disappointed on this trip. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The hotel is well maintained and inviting. Our room was larger than many other large chain hotels and we had plenty of space even though we were not in it for long periods.

The site had a rotten egg smell our entire stay. We asked what the smell was and we were told plumbing was being worked on.

Very good location for nearby tourism and restaurants. Very close to old town San Diego and Balboa Park.

This is a 3 star hotel at best, if it was labeled as such I wouldn’t have as many complaints. The rug was burned and coming off. The heater gave off mist. The vibe was off. I left the very next day and went to the Mission Bay Resort & Spa hotel and felt much better. If your looking for somewhere to simply crash it’s fine but if the vibe and condition of the hotel is important I would choose somewhere else.

Our stay was average. The hotel looks also average and the carpet needs to be updated. But the location was fine. It was next to many shops and restaurants. I did not like how the parking is 30$ and I was charged 6.29 and 7.58$ for calling my phone to locate it in the room. I have NEVER been charged to use a phone in a hotel until today. And my phone number is an LA area code. It wasn’t out of the country. I wouldn’t stay here again.

The room was nice until... the next morning when we were getting ready to leave. While doing my hair at the vanity in the bathroom... water began spraying and shooting out of the bathroom vent on the wall. It ruined all of the towels and my husbands clothing. The upside is that Rosa, one of the housekeeping managers, knocked on the door to ask if we were checking out... When she saw the water, she immediately contacted the front desk (Kirk I think) and the accommodated our needs and tried to rectify the situation as best they could. We truly appreciate their great customer service. But our clothing was ruined and smelly from the mystery water coming from the vent.
