Avalon Hotel and Bungalows Palm Springs

I was a bit disappointed with our stay. I rented 2 Premium rooms. The room near the pool was much more updated, but the other room they gave us was an small, oddly sectioned bungalow that wasn't large enough for 2 adults and a 12 year old. The condition of our room was a bit outdated, in fact, I think it is all original to when it was built. The bathroom was tiny and there was no counter space and the shower was very dark. The original windows made for a drafty experience (it gets really cold at night in PS). The bed was comfortable, but the loveseat was not large enough for my son to sleep on. We would hear a strange, loud noise that sounded like a helicopter every so often that would shake the wall our bed was on. I guess there was a hot tub upstairs? Food was good but a bit pricey and salty. I just feel for the weekend rate we paid, the amenities weren't there to support it.

The Avalon property is very pretty- I've visited many times before for the Spa, Pool, and the delicious restaurant. I was very disappointed in their hotel rooms when I decided to treat myself and finally stay at the resort. The room was extremely outdated and lack luster with no amenities (not even robes). The doors within the room and the main door are paper thin so you can hear everything- including the noisy construction that no one warned us about. The staff on property was very courteous and helpful when they could be! I'd visit the spa or restaurant again, but there are much nicer and cuter hotels to stay at in Palm Springs... or maybe you just need to spend the most at this property to get a decent room?

1st off all of the staff was excellent. Helpful friendly and prompt. The food was very good and we could sit out on our patio and enjoy it. Our room, a 1 bedroom suite was very spacious and had 2 bathrooms. Within walking distance of the shops and restaurants. We would certainly return.

Emily at the front desk is a gem! She was very friendly and accommodating. The hotel was not at max capacity and the perfect amount of guests which made me more comfortable during these times of Covid. The hotel property is boutique style and grounds were well kept and beautiful. Room was nice and bright, very clean and the bed was one of the most comfortable I’ve ever slept in. I loved crawling in and didn’t want to get out in the morning! Slept like a baby and didn’t wake up once which hasn’t happened in a while due to stress. Wanted a get away to decompress and this was the perfect spot!

The property was in a great location. The valet parking made it easy. However you couldn’t sit by the pool and order drinks, you had to order food every time you wanted a drink. It took quit a bit to find people in the mornings to get coffee. It would be so much nicer if they gave you a small coffee pot in the room.

We were very disappointed with our stay, the reasons being the level of maintenance of rooms was poor.Chipped paint on the bathtubs and floors. The bathtub would not drain the first night. There was no room in the bathrooms to place your toiletries, just a tiny stand. I could make a list of all the items that would be simple fixes. I will say that all the staff where lovely and helpful, the beds were very comfortable and the grounds are pretty and well maintained . Would I recommend this hotel, NO, not at this price and when there are so many other options to choose from. Very disappointed

My husband and I have been coming to this hotel for over 10 years (when it was the Viceroy). We love it's charm and quintessential "Palm Springs" vibe which is definitely why we keep coming back. The property could use some work though... some updates, some thorough cleaning and upkeep could be done.. it's sort of loosing it's charm that we love so much about it, especially as there are so many more hotels that are being built currently that have the same sort of vibe. All in all though, we will continue to come back from time to time when we make trips out to the desert!

Extremely loud room. I was booked next to the utility closet and where the housekeeping was. For $350 a night I should not hear slamming and clinking and the house keepers rolling their carts. Also, the hotel is a bit run down as well. I know its Covid but it really needs an over haul. I would not stay here again. It was not worth the price.

The staff was amazing and the property was nice and fun. Great location. Will be back.

From the outside, it’s a cute boutique hotel. On the plus sides, location is great, the bed was surprisingly good and the pool is a “scene” if you are looking for that excitement. But that, unfortunately is where the positives end. The room felt like a poor attempt at LA glam. The room was all white and within minutes, outside dirt transformed the floors into dirty spots. Making our entire stay feel dirty. The bathroom shower felt like a tiny cave and the bathroom door couldn’t even shut with the floor rug they have in place. The structure is outdated and the updates that have been made were portly executed. It’s in need of a remodel.
