Scandic Valdres

This place is disgusting. I didn’t even want to walk barefoot in the room. When we arrived, our room had ZERO towels in the bathroom and an empty roll of toilet paper. The bed looked clean and freshly made so that was the only indication that a cleaning service had taken place at all. We got in late at night or else I probably would have considered other sleeping arrangements. The carpet is super gross, like has probably not been properly cleaned in years. There was hair on the bathroom floor and in the carpet. We had our (non-shedding) dog with us so I’m hoping that their non dog rooms are better cared for, but every other hotel we stayed at on this particular road trip (including another Scandic) was very clean, wood floors and well kept so not sure why this Scandic cannot do the same. You expect a certain standard at Scandic and this fell way below. At check out we were told we owed 200 NOK for our dog and after I told them our dog is way cleaner than their room, they thankfully waived the fee. (I happily paid the dog fee at every other hotel we were at but at this place I felt like my dog needed a bath after sleeping on their floor!) We would never stay here again.

The hotel needs some upgrade, especially the bathroom. Excellent service and very nice and friendly staff.

Room was musty, maybe hadn’t been opened in quite some time. Cobwebs on the ceiling as well. Fairly small room but I just needed a place to sleep so it was fine for one night.

This is a nice big hotel right on the lake. Even though there was a tour bus load of guests and a wedding on the same evening we stayed, it was quiet. The breakfast buffet was exceptional.

Well appointed and provided for. Centrally located and easy parking which is a bonus. Sumptuous breakfast Would heartily recommend the property.

Beautiful hotel, particularly the common areas. Rooms were clean as well, but it was very loud at night as it is next to a bar.

Beautiful hotel on the lake, just that the rooms feel dated. Service at the front desk and restaurant was impersonal. None of this issues would stop us from returning.

The hotel room we received was in this weird half-floor in a hidden corner of the hotel accessible only by going through a confusing path of stairs. It felt like we were in the maid section of the the hotel in Shining. The condition of the room, bathroom and room looked and felt that old and creepy.
