Plantation on Crystal River, Ascend Hotel Collection

Was hoping to enjoy the ammenities over New Years but the condition of the hotel disappointed. Very pretty lobby but the carpeting beyond and on the stairs looked stained and 50 years old. Then the doors to the rooms did not close properly. You has to use your shoulder to push the door to the room open and then slam it to make it close. We heard this noise all night as people came and left their rooms. There were no hand towels provided in the room when we checked in at 8pm, only bath towels and wash cloths and when i called the front desk in the morning to ask for them was told they would be sent right up but didnt get them until 3pm. The staff was not very friendly including desk, bartender and gift shop.

The beautiful pictures have nothing to do with reality. Yes, architecture is nice but the hotel itself is very old and rundown. We ended up not staying. The room was filthy, a/c old and noisy, there were spiders in the room at plain sight on their webs, hallway carpets are being replaced, bc they are so old and stained. It was kind of a depressing experience. I yet need hotels.com to refund my money. Honestly, arriving to the hotel ruined Crystal River for my husband and daughter. They made us drive to Gainesville instead of staying in Crystal River.

Location near the Crystal River was great but the rooms need to be updated.

We booked our stay with a water view , the photos showed a deck bottom floor we arrived and did not get a deck or bottom floor and then had to pay a additional 20$ a night or have the room we thought we were first booking. And was also not able to keep that room only for two nights on a 3 night stay. While on the plantation We were also charged a additional 180$ for our third night (which was already paid for a month before ) and when asked why I was told I never booked for 3 nights yet I have a confirmation number and receipt for three nights. Also the charge was higher than the original amount paid. This was not a enjoyable experience.

We were 100% satisfied with our stay at the Plantation. Our room was clean and comfortable. The amenities were fabulous. We enjoyed sitting by the lovely pool/tiki bar area and listening to live music. The pool side food service was very prompt and delicious. In fact, the pool side food was so good (fried scallop basket could not have been any better) that we chose to eat there another night instead of going to our local favorite (Peck's). We rented a tandem kayak and paddled to 3 Sisters Spring one afternoon and had a great time. This place is a hidden gem and we will definitely be coming back. Highly recommend this resort.

Great hotel, very comfortable. Our room was next boat docking. Very convenient for boaters,and water sports. Kayaking was great . Area was accessible to three sisters springs. Staff was excellent.

A fantastic place to go to see manatee. Lots of amenities on site. Pleasant staff. What we didn’t like were the prices for food in their restaurant, and the loud hotel rooms. You can hear everything in the hallways, and everyone’s door has to slam to shut properly.
