Hotel Royal

Great stay, perfect location, excellence service, nice room. Very soft beds, nice to have fridge in the room, and to be able to make tea & coffee in the room. We missed a free shelf or some hooks in the bathroom for toilet bags etc.The curtains could not be completely closed, so we were awakened early by the sunlight. Staff was very serviceminded and kind. All in all a great stay!

Great place to stay and very central

Hotel Royal has charm and character. The staff is top-notch, very friendly and knowledgeable (Lars and Jens). We loved the custom cocktails made for us in the Atrium lounge too. We will return when we visit Aarhus again.

Really amazing old hotel with tons of character and in an ideal location. Mattresses weren’t great and pillows were poor and issues with the WiFi. The property itself was in great condition and I will definitely stay there again.

the hotel is in major need of updates

fantastic location right next to the old town of Aarhus. Property is a bit dated, wi fi didn't work in the room and there was no in room coffee. But the staff was helpful and friendly and the rooms were clean and comfortable.

This is in many ways a beautiful hotel. The common areas are lavishly decorated with murals of scenes from Danish history and portraits of Danish kings from past centuries. The location on the square with Aarhus's great Gothic cathedral is unbeatable. Our junior suite was a single vary large room abundantly furnished in a traditional style and very clean. But there were problems. The room faced the afternoon sun and was quite hot when we got there. I couldn't get the air conditioning unit to function properly. It would run for a minute or two, then shut off. After about ten minutes, it would turn on for another 1-2 minute run. The next day the hotel handyman fixed it so it wouldn't keep shutting off, but it still seemed ineffective in cooling the room. We got better results by opening the windows to let in the cool night air. This also let in more noise from the square below, principally from university students carousing during their orientation week. The wi-fi didn't work in the room. When we left, the front desk assured us that these problems are being addressed.

This is a lovely old hotel with an excellent staff. Centrally located in a beautiful area. As an older hotel, things were not perfect, but the staff was so attentive to fixing any issue we might have and going above and beyond to help us. that it was not a problem. We loved staying there and found Aarhus a charming place to visit.
