The Vermont Hotel

The communal areas are very well decorated. Room was a little dated but clean and comfortable. Very old heating system with no local control on the radiator so room was hot until they turned the heating off at night time! Evening meal in the Mavern restaurant was very good especially for the price. Breakfast was terrible unfortunately as it took a long time to come and every part of it was very dry!like it had been stood out for a long time, didn’t seem to be cooked to order which would of explained the long wait.

Great little mid Covid break with my wife... a great setting with a nice bar and restaurant. The staff were friendly and helpful ... will definitely return in the near future

Everything was great apart from the bed, it was extremely uncomfortable and so were the pillows. Myself and my partner both agreed on this

The rooms themselves were very dated, our bathroom door had holes in as if someone had punched the door?! The beds were very hard but were fine for one night. Bathrooms also dated. Probably wouldn’t stay here again for the price of it, I’d much rather spend my money somewhere much modern. They also asked how I would like to pay for my room on arrival and if we would like to pay for breakfast - I’d paid for the rom before staying and ensured breakfast was included. For a hotel that is meant to be 5*, this should be noted on the booking already.

Check in was fine but we later found out that the COVID 19 policy wasn’t explained. That is rooms are not cleaned on a daily basis. In our room there was a thick layer of dust on the table area so I would struggle to see how the room was thoroughly cleaned before our arrival. At this time obviously all breakfast items are served to order but there was no explanation of what was on offer other than the cooked breakfast menu. Service in the Redwood Bar was excellent and could not be faulted. Overall a pleasant stay in strange times.
