Holiday Inn Toronto Downtown Centre, an IHG Hotel

Great Location, Good Breakfast Buffet..

The Front Desk are all accomodating, the staff in the breakfasr buffet are all welcoming and they have a good selection of foods. The location is great, very close to everything. Just a short walk to the nearest subway station. My room in 21st floor is just perfect for me and with a great view.

Almost missed this excellent hotel

I was one step away from missing this excellent down town golden location hotel, thanks for some less objective comments from some of the guests as I saw when I was booking this hotel. This hotel is just metres away from the College subway station and the location is wonderful especially for guests who want to visit Dundas and Yonge Streets. The staff was well trained, warm-hearted and very polite with serving guest and my room has a great view of the CN Tower, which was a positive surprise. Speaking of the room size, I think everyone has to make a wise choice between location, room size and price. As long as it is convenient and clean, what is the point of tripling your price for a larger room and choosing hotels that so away from downtown? The breakfast is good and it is so considered that guests do not have to look for places for breakfast outside of the hotel. The swimming pool in 6th floor is not big but it did give us some good father son time. I am very satisfied with this hotel after being a frequent business traveler for the last decade and only lodging in 5-star hotels under my company’s policy. I cannot think of anything that I am not satisfied. There are several names I would like to mention specifically, Ali and Marie. Great staff.

great!

it was a pretty good stay. Location was awesome, super close to subway station and a few blocks down from the "Times Square of Canada" also known as yonge-dundas. The food at breakfast was great and service was wonderful, just ensure you get there before 930 or there are lines. The room itself was clean, everything seemed to be clean and working. Theres no little kitchen area as theres no microwave and there isn't much counter space, but for the price I got, I found it to be totally worth it. The bed was super comfortable, sleeping was amazing. The noise from can be a lot at times, but I never found it too bothersome that it interrupted whatever I was doing. The pool and fitness room are pretty basic, but theres not much more to expect. Furthermore, the best thing I found about my stay was the staff. The staff there is all very kind, patient and positive. I was having trouble with my form of payment in check-in and the employee checking me in was very patient and helped me solve my issue. He showed much more kindness than I had expected to given the situation. Staff are friendly and helpful, hotel is at a great location with great amenities, I would definately stay here again.

IHG

Abysmal check in experience .. room was not as shown in photos on Hotel.com. We booked the Leisure room which clearly shows a relaxing comfy chair as well as the desk/chair. Our room did not have the comfy relaxing chair and was nor as large (ie would have not been enough space to accommodate). We complained within a few minutes of seeing the room - first by phone then with a visit to reception. We only spoke to the lady who had checked us in - she was very offhand - yeh, yeh, yeh attitude . She said we had the room we had booked. There was no room for compromise .. and she did not believe us when we repeated that we had booked a room with a comfy chair. I said that the hotel was not providing us what we had booked through hotel.com and that IHG should review photos on line. Another desk chair was added to the room - the only place it fit was next to the desk - the room was very cramped with the second chair. The room size and seating is very important - especially on a 6 night stay. As an older couple we take rest periods during the day and had booked a room which provided seating so that we would not have to rest on the bed during the day. The front desk lady said she would let the manager know -- but never got back to us .. never saw or heard from her again. I will never stay at that IHG again - in fact probably at no IHG again .. which is a shame as all the restaurant and housekeeping staff were very friendly and helpful - restaurant tables very cramped.

Terrible Service

The staff was unorganized and rude in all levels. They have no communication with each other. They don’t assess guests right away and some of them has a very condescending attitude. One of them talked sarcastically to us saying we book for 2 adults and 2 kids when we have 4 adults. That lady did not even ask for ID and easily assumed that our two younger siblings who are taller than us are adults. They are very much kids accompanied by us (two adults). Also, prior to checking in, the guy did not know what he was doing. We booked online and I actually called days before, confirming our booking. He even charged us the wrong amount and if we hadn’t noticed then he would’ve just went with it. My booking says that I have breakfast for 4 people which then again I also confirmed by calling the hotel but when I get there, they said only two adults are free for breakfast and the receptionist said its okay we can all go in, I handed him the ticket for our breakfast and he fixed it and put 4 people and said that we could just come back the next day and let them fix it but the next day came and there was a different receptionist which said im only allowed 2 adults for breakfast, now where is the communication within these people?? I mean if a problem was addressed, shouldn’t the others be informed of the situation? And last thing was we left our bags in the hotel since our flight was not till the evening and when we came back to get it, it took more than 30 mins for someone to help us.

Quick getaway with my son

My son and I had a quick getaway to explore Toronto. The Holiday Inn was a perfect location. Within walking distance of everything we did. All of the staff were very kind and helpful during our stay. The room was clean and the beds were very comfortable. The breakfast had lots of great options. We will definitely be back.

Great Location

This hotel is located in a great location, right by the subway and walking distance to the mall. The housekeeping team needs to pay detail attention to cleaning. Their is a change to use almost everything about this hotel. Breakfast was included in my rate which i was not offered and free parking which i was asked to pay for. I strongly believe this location is over priced.

No towel bar in bathroom to hang up used towel. Sink was very slow moving, any amount of water took forever to drain. Shades were difficult to operate and fastener was pulling out of wall. TV mount on wall would have been easier to watch and free up desk area.

Clean and kindly services, location is very good. but room was very small and parking fee($30 a day) little experience.

Would stay here again

Perfect place to stay for an event at Maple Leaf Garden. Staff was friendly and helpful. Breakfast was quite good. Far better than most hotels.
