Mercure Oxford Eastgate Hotel

Comfortable and great location.

Mercure Oxford Eastgate hotel is right in the middle of the action. Situated between Merton College and Magdelene College it's a perfect spot for those hoping to walk to the best sights in Oxford. We were not on a high floor so did not have to deal with the stairs. The place was clean, quiet and comfortable and the staff friendly and helpful. We enjoyed the breakfast immensely. We will stay here again on our next Oxford trip. The 20 minute walk from the train station was not too bad (in good weather).

Logistical room location

A very enjoyable night. What we didn't realise was that there was no lift in the building & we were not advised or asked whether we would need a low floor to consider this.

Would definitely recommend

A great hotel. Our stay was very pleasant with a lovely room (and view). Staff were quick, helpful and very friendly. Minor points would be we only had one bath towel in the room rather than two. Ways to improve would be to have a recycle bin in the room and for staff to encourage recycling (i.e., in the reception we were told to place the room card in the bin).

Lovely hotel

Easy, quick check-in (and rapid check-out too) in a modern lobby. Staff were friendly and welcoming. Room was modern, spotless, and cosy. Comfy bed, spacious bathroom, mini fridge, safe... it had everything you need. My only complaint is that the room got a bit cold due to draught from windows and radiator not heating up fully. Hotel is located in a quiet side street off the high street opposite one of Oxford's beautiful colleges, so perfect location in terms of proximity to sites (less than 5 minutes from Radcliffe Camera!) and traffic noise (I heard very little). Overall a brilliant stay and I will definitely be coming back!

Room wasn’t clean and wasn’t cleaned during stay . Hotel is tired and run down . Centrally located though

The hotel itself was lovely, stylish and great location. Unfortunately the heating in the room made an annoying siren sound when switched on, when raised to reception they just advised us to leave the heating off - not a great solution for a cold February. Later we were woken up by a fire alarm in the early hours and had to evacuate, staff immediately blamed it on another guest which was rather unprofessional.

Situated very well and surrounded by beautiful buildings. Lots to do in the area. Nice, clean room with one of the most comfortable beds I have ever slept on. We’ve had a great stay.

Hygiene issue

Room had a used plaster and used false eyelashes in. Had to request we were moved. The hotel obliged and the second room was much better and cleaner.
