A Relief For Mom Traveling With A Young Child

My daughter needed to have a procedure at the nearby children's hospital. This hotel was really close and I appreciated that a lot. The hotel seems a bit older but everything was clean and I was very happy to have a Starbucks in the lobby.

Bad Marriott experience

It was pretty bad. Do not stay at any of the Marriott properties in Salt Lake City. They are owned by franchisees who do not care about customers. This hotel oversold itself by 6 rooms on the day we arrived. Their best rooms were terrible. They are very poorly managed.

Was surprised there was no in room coffee service or microwave. Dog cost us $50, a bit steep. Attractive hotel.

There has been too little cleaning and it shows throughout. At times of covid this is worrisome. The staff is generally friendly and I appreciate the inclusiveness they represent. The location is fabulous with central access in the research park and many nature trails.

The room was clean and the beds were very comfortable. We thought it would be walkable to and from the hotel to the university but had to take Lyft s to get around due to limited sidewalks, distance and weather. Our flight out was late so I called the hotel before we left home to see if I could extend the room and was told I could pay half rate for an extra 5 hours, but I had to book at front desk upon arrival. So Once we arrived, I tried to do that, but was told I had to wait until the morning we were leaving to extend. Then I was told we could only book an extra full day, half wasn’t a thing. I’m not sure why 3 different people told me 3 different things. So that was a little frustrating. We ended up not extending, and the staff did store our bags, and it was easy to retrieve them. The hotel itself was nice.

Staff at this property were all very friendly, accomodating, and helpful. Traveling alone with my son, and not used to the cold temperatures, I was particularly anxious about how public transportation, and transport from and back to the airport would be like. Staff arranged a taxi for me and my son before I arrived, and the taxi secured was also run by very friendly and welcoming people. The University, which we were there to see, was walkable, even in the cold, and public transportation back was a breeze. Any question or request I had was handled efficiently and with friendliness. We enjoyed our short stay immensely and plan on more stays should my son decide to go to school here.
