Construction noise and wet paint throughout the building Only one bed side table ? I’ve never seen that anywhere The room was so tiny and was taken by the king bed Much attention needed to the details for this price

Balboa inn

Very clean. The staff was super friendly and helpful. Beautiful view and was very quiet at night. Convenient location for the fun zone and restaurants. The Italian restaurant was fantastic.

The hotel is old and the rooms are cold and sterile. There is only one place to sit. No rigs or carpet on a tile floor. I have no idea what the resort fee is for. Very expensive for what you get.

I was in town for training. I grew up in the O.C. The first room they gave me, faced a very loud and busy street. For the price of the room, it was very minimal, with an open sleeve for sugar and powder cream, powdered cream empty and opened. It sounded like the bus was going to drive through my room, even though I was on second floor. About 10 minutes into being in the room, the 3rd floor above me, I could hear every step. Yes, they did change my room upon requested, but it is over priced to stay in a motel. As far as safety, they leave the double glass breeze way unlocked, with direct access off the pedestrian and bike sidewalk, no security for elevator, anyone could go into elevator, access any floor, as well as staircases are left unlocked. If I look at the price, sure your right there at the beach, they do not offer enough safety and comfort for me to stay again. You can stay at VRBO or Marriot for the price, and experience real comfort and safety. Staff were friendly, but hard to identify who was staff.

The balboa inn is always a beautiful place to stay and you cannot beat the location. My one complaint would be the noise from the hallways. Having kids scream/run down the hallway at early hours or having a dog bark isn’t what I want to wake up to.
