Good

Excellent staff. Good breakfast but not nasty chemically coffee from a machine. The corridors near our room were littered and sickly stale smell near lifts and room service trays left outside for hours. More attention to detail required. In some ways the hotel has a tired and dated feel.

Disappointed

Stayed here a few times, it didn’t feel as good as I was expecting, seating in reception area shoddy, need’s replacing. We stayed in an executive King suite, excellent views of the Castle and civic centre but very dreary looking rooms and cold looking! It needs more pictures and furnishings, the lounge area is sparse. Even though it wasn’t windy outside we had to block the bottom of the door to the bedroom from the lounge in order to stop the hideous humming noise from the draught coming under it. Went to a concert expecting the room to have been refreshed, it wasn’t and they can’t blame covid anymore as restrictions have been lifted, I had to find housekeeping in order to get fresh towels, shampoo and loo roll and take out out used crockery. We probably wouldn’t stay here again, if you add in the £60 for two nights parking it was an overpriced stay.

Not the standard expected.

I was disappointed with servicing ( or rather lack of it ) to our room . We stayed for 2 nights but our room was not visited by housekeeping . So tea , coffee and milk not replenished and bed not made . I expect better from Hilton. I did make these points when I checked out and notes were made . I was told I should have phoned the desk if I wanted more tea/coffee...... true , shouldn't have to really !

Hotel room was clean but a little tired. The lamp didn't work, the light was coming off the ceiling & the showrt doors didn'tshut properly. The towels were replaced everyday, which wasn't necessary normally you can have them changed only if you want to but this wasn't an option & the tea/coffe cups were never changed? Parking was very expensive so used the Justpark app to find somwhere else which worked well. Wouldn't stay here again prefered the hotel we previously stayed in at Cardiff Bay that had free parking & was a lot cheaper.

Not impressed

I paid extra for a view of Cardiff castle and I got a view of the castle through the scaffolding of the hotel sign, I was very disappointed, the carpet was stained, the desk lamp didn’t work, no milk with the tea and coffee, the staff were friendly but overall I was disappointed with the stay as I expected more from the Hilton and for the price I paid, I didn’t complain as we only stayed one night but I wouldn’t return.

In real need of an update

We stayed in an Executive Suite, which was dated, had broken aircon, a duvet too small for the bed and just in general need of a bit of care - paint was peeling in the bathroom, the floors were not cared for, the sofa in the room was falling apart, and plugs points were hard to come by. Phone calls and direct contact with the front desk didn't yield any answers to the issues, although someone did try and fix the aircon, but didn't and left an electric heater for the room. The other areas outlined weren't responded to at all, despite a second request. A call for room service wasn't answered on multiple occasions leading to us going out to find food at the time we would rather have eaten in. Breakfast was distinctly average, with everything self serve until this was changed mysteriously on Sunday morning. Overall, not a great place to stay, which really was a great shame as we were really looking forward to the stay and had booked a more special room for the occasion.

Cardiff marathon stay

Stayed for half marathon due to location. Secondary glazing insufficient to keep noise from outside out. Didn't get sleep till 4am up at 6.30. Not the best preparation! Everything else fine.

A massive disappointment

Such a shame as I had stayed in this hotel just after it had opened approx. 20 years ago for the year 2k millennium and it was fabulous! Sadly now it is massively due a spruce up, generally a tired looking hotel, the lounge seats have exposed foam showing through, if you look out of the lift you should notice the carpet below is horrendously stained. The view from the room was the hotels bin area with rubbish everywhere, no hot water in our room so cold showers were the only option. Water marks on the ceiling, USB point not working etc. On a positive note the food/breakfast was excellent and staff were really understanding and very friendly, they offered a £30.00 reduction off my bill. I probably won’t return until it gets some money spent on it, you really need the basics to be right when you are spending £200.00 a night.

Lovely stay

Lovely relaxing stay. Great breakfast and lovely friendly staff. The room was clean and lots of space. The swimming was a little cold and my room was next to lift so you could hear it moving up and down. Would stay again.
