Nice enough bit poor breakfast

Very good stay. Covid aware, with one way systems in place whenever possible. Breakfast was good.

A nice old country house hotel with a gym and a pool.

Not up to the Macdonald chain standards. The hotel is placed on beautiful grounds but is very dated and needs updating. The curtains were like from the 70s, stained carpets and lamps, and dust around corners (especially in the hallways). No vegan options for breakfast, so a negative for us. Also, we were told upon booking a spa treatment that we’d get Prosecco included and it would be 25 mins - we did not get the Prosecco and the treatment was 25mins including getting to the treatment room and the beautician asking what you want and filling in forms - so maybe 18 mins in total for the treatment itself. At least the bed was comfortable.

Hotel was nice but needs a update.i have stayed at this hotel on and off for 20 years don't think anything has changed since then staff were very helpful it's very peaceful and quiet I did enjoy my stay

Despite trying to contact the hotel to discuss our complaints this has been ignored, twice. Dirty room, stains on bedding, questions on how the hotel are complying with their covid secure 'safe and sound charter'. Cold check in/out. Very let dpwn

We stayed twice recently (a few days apart) and both times were different experience. Second time no tea cups in room or glasses and in room breakfast was terrible. My parents room had peeling wallpaper, wonky tables and curtains wouldn’t close as they were hanging off. Staff friendly and helpful throughout.

Stayed at this hotel via last minute deal. The hotel is set in beautiful grounds with lots of woodland, so we were a bit disappointed to be given room 105 which looks out over a roof with what looked like heating or aircon machinery. The room itself was clean but on a closer look there were many things in need of attention The toilet seat was hanging off, and the lid broke off during the night, There was a large highly visible crack in a tile in the bathroom. The safety handrail in the shower was loose. And to top it all there was a crack in the screen of the tv. The machinery outside hummed all night, which was a problem. Seemed like we were getting the worst room available for the good price we paid. Despite that, the bed was really comfortable and the pillows soft enveloping. The staff were really friendly and helpful and I can’t fault them at all. Supposed to be a 4* hotel, but the superficial damages were not what I expect from a hotel in this chain. Very disappointing

Upgraded to an exec room, which was a nice, decent room. Very friendly staff which was a big plus. The evening menu was a little limited and breakfast was served in the room due to lockdown, although when it arrived the bacon barm was cold, no ketchup or a spoon to retrieve a teabag out of the cup! Nothing major and all totally forgivable in challenging times. Overall a great hotel

Feels like they are really struggling to return from Covid. This is not a luxury hotel, not 4*. They should have been embarrassed by the breakfast they delivered. Litter around the grounds. Disappointing stay.
