The Westin Excelsior, Rome

A grand hotel in a great location. Within walking distance of all the main sites and the lovely Borghese Gardens. Our beautiful top floor room was extremely spacious and well furnished with a wrap round balcony. Service from staff at all levels was efficient, friendly yet professional and really enhanced our stay. We will definitely return!

The Hotel is run down and does not DESERVE the name WESTIN....!!! from torn and worn out rugs to worn out wooden doors and windows, and chipped and worn out bathroom tiles and very old plumbing fixtures. Was very disappointed in this so called WESTIN hotel. Our room #620 was backing into to court in the back and the very loud nightclub music and drunken guest screaming was on every night till 3:30 PM. After complaining to the management they just said they know about it and are very sorry!

Reasonably nice hotel with the modern comforts you need. The entire property, including the rooms, could do with some love and care. Worst part for me was falling in the pool area, due to the extremely slippery tiles they’ve put there. Hurt myself quite badly and the staff and manager were none too concerned about it.

Tired and worn out decor. Carpet in the room was filthy. Door to the shower did not close fully. Overall attention to detail was missed. It’s difficult to assess 5 stars considering the experience.

The hotel is in a great area close to attractions and is a wonderful old building. The overall property is very rundown and appears unclean because the carpets are old and stained. The staff are pleasant and helpful. The restaurant is not great for lunch or dinner.

Staff wasn’t very helpful, specifically the concierge when we asked for assistance in finding train schedule. Basically told us to figure it out. Beautiful room, though carpet was stained. Great location

Old hotel that definitely needs rooms renovated with staff that didn't speak English at what seemed like with almost exclusively American visitors. Housekeeping would knock and without waiting they would walk right in (even with do not disturb sign on). This happened multiple times. Are you kidding me? Then while I was in the room to feed my 5 month old baby, my husband offered to get me dessert and bring it to the room. Shockingly my husband got harassed (more like yelled at by the concierge guy who then tried to fight him, chased down the road by restaurant employees) for bringing me plated dessert from the hotel restaurant. That's it. All for taking dessert on the restaurant plate outside of the restaurant. It was paid for! Again, are you kidding me??? Would never stay here again after that experience even though front desk and doormen were all very nice.
