Need a little adjustment.

Nice place just need better room inspection especially of door locks. We had like two that was acting funny and I found a bug in the tub which I feel they should use some type of bug spray to keep them out. Be side that great stay.

$300 deposit??? Crazy

Our stay was nice. Our biggest problem was the $300 deposit hold. Very few hotels even charge a deposit let alone a whole weeks pay for some people. Yes you may release the funds after 24 hours but most banks still hold it for another 72 hours. It feels like you don’t have any trust in your guests. We have stayed here multiple times in the past and the deposit was only $100 which we still felt was high. When you’re on vacation and on a budget a large deposit makes it hard to plan a stay at your resort. I know I don’t run your resort and you probably make plenty of money even with inflated deposits but as a guest I would like to suggest going back to the $100 deposit. First impressions are everything even when checking in.

Lovely resort needs some improvements

The resort is always nice. The room we were in is kind of confusing. It seemed as though the Master bedroom, which had the big master bathroom attached, had the queenor full size bed and the 2nd bedroom had the king bed. Not sure as to why? Also in the master bathroom there was no towel rack near the shower to hold the towel for when you get out. The towel racks were all the way across the bathroom. Had to stuff my towel over the shower curtain.

Long crowded check in line

The only problem was at check in. It was a very, very long line. Not so much a problem except - it just requires patience - except there were two people on the opposite side of the room at desks doing nothing. Also 50+ people crammed into a lobby during COVID was not smart. I haven’t been in a group like that since March. There has to be a better check in process like having people wait in their cars and calling them when it’s time to check in. Then you might no have so many people aggravated and the guy walking around selling timeshares may get more business.

Horrible cigarette smoke odor.

The Powhatan resort has done a very nice job at upgrading the condo-style units which we have stayed at several times in the past. My only complaint is that the unit stunk quite heavily of cigarette smoke. Not acceptable since the units are supposed to be smoke free. If I stay there again in the future, I would make sure that I get a preview of the unit before accepting.
