6/10 great staff but the gym let me down

I wanted to say thank you to the friendly staff at Hotel Zen. Negatives: - The bed I was given was two single beds which made it hard to sleep in as the booking was for a double bed. I asked if I could get it changed but was told that the majority of rooms looked like this (which they did not). - Massive insect infestation in my room. There was ants on the floors, flies and spiders in the room which was so unpleasant. I asked to be changed but was told that they didn’t have any rooms left. One of the staff did come with bug spray this was my second to last day. - power cuts - there had been three power cuts during my week long stay. - The gym - this let me down big time as it was one of the reasons I chose this hotel over another. Only two weights available; and the other machines are broken so you can only use the treadmill. - the social areas of the hotel were pretty much baron with the snooker table broken for much of my stay. It was hard to interact with other people there too. - Staff - most evenings the reception was busy with the bar and reception being manned by the same person leading to wait times and frustration. Positives - most of the staff were really happy to help with any issues. - shuttle bus was a good idea but only could be used at certain times. - cleaning staff did an amazing job but towards the end of my stay I noticed cleaning of tables not being done.

Could not sleep due to noisy pump.

We could not sleep due to pump noise in the ceiling. Complained twice in the night and night representative tried to help by turning the pump off. Offered another room at 4am but damage done by then. Slept from 04:30 whilst the pump off but woke up to the pump sound at 07:00. The representative changed to a female at 09:00 but she pretended not to understand. No response to email complaint. The night representative knew about the pump noise so if you are readying this and have the same problem then the pump has not been fixed. The hotel may be reasonable value if you could get a good nights sleep - did not like the single double pillow but that is a minor thing.

Easy option for early flights out of Malaga

Easy option if you have an early flight out of Malaga, with free 5am shuttle that was on time. Property is not near the beach but close enough if you feel like walking a little and exploring (they also have shuttle to the beach but I didn't use it). Nice looking pool and overall hassle-free stay.

The hotel was clean and friendly, perfect location for an early flight from Malaga airport. Check in was easy and the staff were very helpful. Will definitely stay there again. The free airport transfer was superb.

Pleasant stay

A pleasant surprise for a hotel airport, would stay there on a normal holiday. Very nice.

Cost effective clean hotel just near the airport for the night before our flight. Friendly staff and a free shuttle bus. Clean food and bar area. Would stay again.

Neither zen nor at the airport. Room was bare bones, smelled like smoke, A/C unit was extremely loud as was the air freshener dispenser. Waking up for our early flight was no problem since we never fell asleep. Pool was nice with views of the Mediterranean.

Great place to stay in terms of value and service. Airport shuttle was on time and easy to use. Rooms were clean and accessible. Highly recommend.

Great hotel for beach or airport access

Fabulous little place with great facilities and service. Much more than we expected and great value for money with a great breakfast and free shuttle to the beach/airport. Shower rooms could do with an update but everything else was spot on. Great breakfast with lots of options. Would definitely go there again and recommend to couples or families.
