Highly recommended!

An amazing stay! Staff friendly and location excellent. Room spacious and clean. Around a mile walk to the Royal Mile. Loved it that much we have booked again for August. First Class and free parking is bonus. Continental breakfast was lovely as well.

Great location. Fab hot shower. Lovely selection of fruit teas. Nice toiletries. Nice bedding & comfy bed. General areas dark & gloomy. Torn curtain hanging down in room - couldn’t close it and shutters were too stiff. Torn and frayed cushion on the bed. Bed cover had a large, unsightly stain on it. General decor a bit down at heel.

Weekend in Edinburgh

The Salisbury Hotel is in a central part of Edinburgh. Handy for sightseeing and Theatres etc. The rooms are comfortable. A bit annoying that you can't open a window. Breakfast wasn't a available because of covid😮 As it's usually continental, couldn't quite understand why! All in all enjoyed the stay😀

Despite what Hotels.com may say, it is NOT possible to get am additional rollaway child bed in the regular rooms. Fortunately I called the hotel in advance to confirm and they were very helpful, offering an extremely reasonable upgrade to a gigantic family room.

Could Have Been So Much Better.

The property was chosen for convenience returning home from a business trip. For the record the property is a guest house and not a hotel and there is no restaurant and bar associated directly with the guest house. There is a restaurant next door to the property and my perception of having a meal or drinks in the 'hotel restaurant and bar' were clarified during check in. Check in was efficient and it was explained that the only breakfast on offer was a continental breakfast by room service, because the guest house was not busy enough to open a dining room. I was directed to my ground floor room which was cold, with the radiator barely warm and i attempted to use a mini heater which gave up after a couple of minutes. I was given a replacement heater which was better. The bedroom window overlooked the neighbouring restaurant outdoor dining area / shish tent, and there was an instruction on the window seat not to close the curtains, as they were for effect only, but to use wooden window shutters to create darkness. These wooden shutters only covered 50% of the window and was impossible to create darkness unless all of the exterior lighting from the restaurant was turned off. The curtains were torn and hanging from the curtain track presumably damaged by guests trying to close them to create darkness. Breakfast was more than adequate, but i would have preferred a full Scottish fry up. Invest in curtains that close and make sure the room is warm to create a good first impression.

Room was lovely! Huge bed, clean room, friendly and caring staff. Only (minor) issue we had was the shower.. quite a bit of water managed to run out and soak the bathroom floor a bit.

the property was a true gem. Stayed for 1 night, large spacious room with wonderful view, short walk from the town centre and Holyrood. Lovely, welcoming & helpful staff would definitely recommend this place
