Novum Hotel Continental Hamburg Hauptbahnhof

I was stayed on 11th February 2020. Location is in central train station. Busy Road. No hotel parking. Rooms are small but worthy. Breakfast is simple but fine. Staff are good.

The old lady at reception is extremely rude and racist. Instead of saying, “Can I please have your ID” she just yelled saying “ID!”. To the German people behind us she was super nice. Absolutely rude and racist, never met a person like that ever, extremely arrogant, she needs to realize it’s 2019 and colored people can travel too! Plus our nationality is Australian. There was only one pillow person which was flat as a piece of paper. The towels smelled, the toilet smelled really bad and a light in the room didn’t work. Only good think was the location, and other staff were nice and helpful expect for the that old, rude and racist lady at the front desk with short white hair who worked the mornings.

Very convenient right across from the railway station. Excellent reception staff, good choice of meats and cheeses etc at breakfast. Room was a good size, bathroom very spacious, view not so good. Very hot at night with no air conditioning. Provision of a room safe at no extra charge was great.

this is an old hotel opposit the main railway station what is handy I got room 44 (level 4 out of six), looking into the inner courtyard with 10 meter high walls - it was not pretty no airconditioning on a 29°C evening with no air coming through the windows. the breakfast was ok - small room - small selection the people at reception and at the breakfast area were nice next time I would rather stay somewhere else - more modern - with windows or aircon - even if that is further away

Convenience and Breakfast met expectations!

The convenience of being opposite Main Railway station was ideal, convenient to cafes and supermarkets. The room was small with very little space on the side of the bed and did get rather warm and stuffy, made worse by closing the window to avoid outside noise. Most of the staff were pleasant and having chosen breakfast to be included, was a bonus. Lots of choice for a continental breakfast. Having lifts, (although small) was a real bonus to get luggage up to 3rd floor. Would definitely consider staying there again. I would have appreciated a little more effort to locate an item believed to be left in the room, but overall a good experience.
