Great Location in a beautiful part of Lisbon

Great location , interesting building, very friendly and helpful staff, excellent breakfast. Noise from the Nightclub behind the building is a problem if you want to get fresh air.

Lovely Hotel, perfect location.

The room and bathroom were very large and spacious. The entire hotel was decorated very thoughtfully- it was very cute. Some of the furniture showed signs of wear and tear, but it seemed intention and fit in the decor. The bed was a little less than perfectly comfortable for my husband and I; however I have slept on worse hotel beds. The pillows also seemed to have a plastic cover on them under the pillowcase. This also contributed to a really warm (albeit sweaty) bed experience. The view was unreal. The location could not be beat. The street facing room had huge windows with a small little patio. Outside the windows were a lovely square as well as the tram line. Be aware that there is a lot of street noise; but with the windows and shutters closed, we slept soundly with my white noise app. The hotel also provides earplugs. The service was fantastic and the hostess at breakfast was a breath of fresh air. The breakfast was fresh and filling, and my husband appreciated the bottomless espresso.

The Only Problem was Hotels.com

The Independente is great! Fabulous location overlooking Lisbon. Impeccable washrooms, showers and common spaces. Friendly service, looking to go the extra mile. And of course very affordable. It made staying in Lisbon a joy. I arrived believing I was staying in a room with one 2-person bunkbed due, and found myself in a room with 2 3-person bunkbeds due to poor photograph and wording choices at Hotels.com. This would be wrong at the best of times: a global pandemic is not the best of times. Hotels.com, please make more appropriate choices in future!

Really good stay

The hostel is located in a beautiful old building, with high ceilings and so many beautiful details. The breakfast included is also good. Everything worked, and the staff was super friendly and went out of their way to help out. However, the dorms had triple bunk beds, which was quite surprising. They worked well and were comfortable, but aren't exactly my cup of tea. Otherwise, have nothing negative to say about the place. The location is great and within walking distance from most places. Overall, a good stay! :)

I highly recommend this place

Very unusual and beautiful place in a prime location. Excellent Continental breakfast with freshly squeezed orange juice.
