Hôtel Mercure Lyon Centre - Gare Part Dieu

Very clean, nice brunch, and Great service

This is a beautiful hotel and very handy for the station and for connections into the beautiful city of Lyon. Just one problem: the pillows in the room were so uncomfortable that neither of us slept well. This was the only let down - cheap and nasty pillows that offered no support. In the end, you need to sleep in a hotel - and we didn't. A slight economy that made a real difference to us.

Good position for public transport - about 15 minutes by metro from centre

The hotel is very close to the train station. Yet, the key attractions in Lyon are quite far from there and it took nearly 30mins by walking.

Location of the hotel is excellent. right next to the train station and 2 minutes from the Rhonexpress tram stop to the airport. The huge La Part Dieu shopping mall is 5 mins walk on the west side of the train station. Rooms are clean and tidy. Lighting in the room can be improve as it is very dim.

Excellent property, convenient location, and good value.

The location of the property is what attracted me book and I’m glad I did. If you go for the Lyon City card with the Rhone Express option, then this property will be perfect. Rhone Express again is about 2 mins walk. Part Dieu Viviere Merle meteo about 8 mins walk, across it is the Part Dieu Mall. The staff are very courteous and helpful. We didn’t try the breakfast as we opted to soak in the culture by having it outside the hotel. We will stay again if we go back to Lyon.

Decent value for the money, but avoid the restaurant at all costs! The restaurant food was very poor - being in Lyon means there are so many better choices for food (like anywhere else but here). Looks good now, but build quality suggests the hotel will look run down as it ages. The location is ideal for getting around the city, although the types of people hanging out near the train station take away from the overall feel of the hotel.
