We also had access to the castle grounds during the day and after hours. Highly recommendable, great value for money. There was an event happening on New Years Eve and we were kept informed about the set up process, which didn’t impact our stay.

The medi-evil look is different, and we enjoyed staying there. The Queen Spa room was just okay. It was a little confined, and the spa was just a bath (with some tiles missing from the side of it). It is a very dark setting. We left early AM, and it was difficult to find our way out (both walking out to the entry area, then driving out to the street!).

NOISY letdown

The experience of staying in a 'castle' was eclipsed by the fact that that we had to put up with the noise from the neighboring rooms. Walls were thin enough that we could hear conversations, toilets, fans, KIDS, doors, jumping, wall bangs, etc. at all hours. (Crying kids at various times of the night). We were in a barracks that included bunk beds and a double bed but out of the 6 bunk beds, 2 were made up, leaving the double bed. It was assumed the two adults were sharing the double but I was looking forward to a bed on my own as I have recently suffered broken ribs---not to be!! The wife said on check-in that the bathroom bin hadn't been emptied and although our room was cleaned and restocked (coffee, milk, biscuits) on the first morning, it wasn't repeated. We stayed 3 nights. On a positive note, the access to the themed castle was great and the kids enjoyed the activities. I enjoyed the mead.

We had a issue with water supply like there weren’t water at all. Next day morning at the reception we got to know the pump was damaged. However, I believe been a 4 star accommodation they should have a back up system. Room amenities were damaged ex - sink. And dirty.

Room was not properly cleaned. This is especially disappointing when this is in the middle of a pandemic. The glasses still had previous drink stains in them, and there was not enough cutlery to use (1 fork for a queen bedroom).

Great place to stay

Great place to stay, quiet, clean and nicely appointed room. Up on a hill so we woke to fog and a really great medieval feeling. Had a walk around before we left.
