Key West Inn - Cookeville

My Wife and I live in Michigan and we Stayed in Cookeville Tennessee to visit her Aunt. The Key West Inn is a very affordable Hotel just south of Tennessee Tech College. Overall the Hotel has a nice curb appeal from outside. The (non-smoking)room we stayed in was clean but there was a slight cigarette smell and it was very dated. New paint, carpet and update faucets would be a relatively small investment to make it a really nice affordable Hotel.

Let me start by saying, don’t stay here. The staff are nice and helpful when necessary, but the condition of the room we stayed in was terrible. Dirty, paint peeling, holes in the walls, the fridge was incredibly loud, etc. My husband does contracting on the side and was horrified at the DIY workmanship in our room. The water damage in the bathroom alone affected his allergies; we suspected mold on the other side of all the walls in the bathroom. My husband and I would have black feet after showering almost immediately. My husband used black charcoal soap that sometimes left residue on the tub, after housekeeping came through it was still on the tub- so it was obvious the tub wasn’t scrubbed at all. We could also feel the carpets had not been vacuumed by housekeeping. The billboard in town is a lie- the rooms aren’t newly renovated and the internet isn’t high speed at all. The parking lot was dark and the layout of parking spots we weird, almost as if they were setting you up to unavoidably back into someone. Check in took quite a few minutes it seemed, the front clerk kept trying to put us in a smoking room which is not what I reserved or pre-paid for. We had to fight for a non- smoking room. And then to find the state of the room we got, staying here as long as we had booked for was honestly very difficult. If I could have gotten my money back I would have left here immediately. Pay the few extra dollars and stay at the Super 8 or something better.

Quaint place, very convenient location , easy check in, excellent service. I left something really important to me in a haste, was even hesitant to come back , as it had no apparent value and they had it wrapped and labeled for me. Thank you

It was clean, no one bothered me

Staff was very friendly, check-in was great. The room was a bit dated, seems like they're in the middle of improving various aspects in stages. There were still marks on the walls from the prior counter around the sink, there were plates on the walls where old light fixtures used to be, holes drilled in random areas, but really it was only aesthetic things. Everything functioned great, the bed was comfy, location was pretty quiet. We would stay again.

It was amazing. I can't wait til we can go back again.

The initial room I was in was not in good condition. The faucet in the tub leaked and the bathroom smelled like urine. I called the front desk to let them know and the front desk manager was so nice. She had excellent customer service and immediately put me in a new room and apologized profusely. I think the hotel overall is in good condition, I just got a bad room. I would probably stay here again.

They always feel like home. The staff is so wonderful..
