The hotel we will keep coming back in the future

One of the best choices I had made was to book this hotel. The helpful staff and hotel transport drivers even brought us to the Jigokudani Monkey Park and Sora Terrace when they knew we did not know how to go there. On our visit to Sora Terrace, the driver drove to pick us up when we contacted the hotel to say that the place had closed for the day, it had turned dark (5.30 pm) and that we were stranded at the exit of the place. We are most grateful to the staff there. particularly the drivers and counter staff.

Incredible Onsen, dinner and staff

Truly great hotel. We got picked up from the station for no extra charge which is always nice. Staff were incredibly friendly from the very outset. English speaking was limited but really didn't matter as the staff went above and beyond in satisfying requests including a very special kids meal. The Onsen natural hot spring bath (indoors and outdoors) was very special. It was also open all night so I went in a few times in the middle of the night when jet lagged. Every course at dinner was delicious. Local area limited but free transfer to and from monkey park, which we were there to see. Accommodation like a traditional woman but very very reasonable price. Very satisfied customer, especially thanks to the amazing staff

Nice hotel and hospitality, thank you.

We had a great time staying in this hotel for one night as a great finale before we headed home after 10 days Japan and ski trip. The staff picked us up at Yudanaka station and shuffled us to the snow monkey park, and we satisfyingly saw many monkeys in bath. This hotel is not located at the busiest part of town so don't expect to do much in neighborhood. However, two spa (one inside and one outdoor) were clean and enjoyable. The traditional Japanese dinnner and the breakfast buffet both exceeded our expectation. Although the staffs can't speak much English, that was not a problem because they understand most and communicate well by excellent translation app. This is clearly a underrated hotel which got a perfect score in hospitality.

Restfull stay with nice Onsen

This hotel has comfortable futon beds, large room with Tatami and private restroom. The Onsen has both indoor and outdoor baths. Hotel is in proximity to the Snow monkeys, a recommended stay.

Winter stay

Amazing night at Yamadaka!!! Very kindness staff they provide us a free shuttle service from station to hotel and to snow monkey park. In addition, they also provide a short transport to Shibu onsen. Nice dinner and breakfast, It mostly valuable base on my experience with Ryokan in Japan

Amazing staff and facilities

Amazing stay, staffs are very friendly and helpful. They could pick you up from station and take you to snow monkey park. The room also has private onsen.

Hotel Housei is the PERFECT Japanese style hotel!

We wanted a traditional Japanese style hotel experience and Hotel Housei was PERFECT! Our room included tea service, kimono style robes and house shoes, and a private onsen with a sliding window open to the snow outside!! Breakfast was buffet style with both familiar and adventurous selections and we were even served traditional Japanese mochi soup (Ozoni) on New Year’s Day! The hotel provided free shuttle service to and from Snow Monkey Park, recommended sledding locations for beginners, and even helped us install the tire chains on our car. Some of the staff spoke English and those who did not patiently used the Google Translate app to communicate with us. We will DEFINITELY be returning to Hotel Housei!

Great traditional experience

What a sweet, traditional Japanese hotel, complete with futon and pillows to sit on. Much more comfortable that I though sleeping on a cushion would be. Very nice staff. Although they didn't speak English, they had printed sheets with all the information needed translated. Very nice onsen, especially the outdoor pool. Very clean and well maintained.
